don't betray me {edited}

While Ziyan plotted in the bedroom, Vesna was not sitting idle either. She was back in her apartment, sitting before her computer. Her fingers were flying across the keyboard with such speed that they seemed to blur. On the screen before her, the traffic footage from earlier played, capturing the chase.

Vesna zoomed in on each of the pursuing vehicles, her advanced facial recognition software scanning and identifying every visible face. Within seconds, dossiers began populating her screen - names, backgrounds, criminal records, and more importantly, connections.

For nearly half an hour, Vesna's hands never stopped moving. She dug deeper, following digital breadcrumbs, connecting dots that others would have missed. Financial transactions, phone records, and encrypted messages all appeared before her.

Finally, her fingers stilled as she leaned back, taking in the full scope of what she had uncovered. Her eyes scanned the faces now arrayed before her on the screen. A small, knowing smile played at the corners of her mouth.

"The Luo family is a bigger mess than the Xiao," she mused, amusement flickering in her eyes.

But as she stared at the faces of those who had dared to attack them, Vesna felt a surge of something she hadn't expected - protectiveness.

Her eyes hardened, and her voice took on a dangerous edge as she spoke to the empty room, "They should better get ready, for they have messed with my man."

The possessive pronoun surprised even her. When had she started thinking of Ziyan as 'hers'? but she didn't dwell on it. Instead, she focused on the task at hand. If the Lyo family that they could use her to mess with Ziyan, they were up for a big surprise.

Once Vesna was done, she took a bath and changed into her pajamas before going back into Ziyan's apartment. She will bring her stuff here tomorrow. She went into the bedroom and Ziyan was fast asleep. She stood at the end of the bed and stared at her man with a raised eyebrow.

'Look at him, sleeping so peacefully as if someone isn't out there trying to harm him'

She shook her head and went to the left side of the bed.

'Whatever, he can enjoy his peace while it lasts.'

She lay down next to him and turned to face him.

'Such a handsome man'

Vesna could not help but marvel at how handsome he was. No matter how many times she had seen him, she couldn't seem to get used to it. His sharp features, strong jawline, and the mysterious air that surrounded him made it impossible to look away.

Vesna reached out, her fingers lightly brushing a stray lock of hair from his forehead. Her touch was gentle, almost tender, as if she were afraid of waking him or disturbing the fragile peace of the night. She leaned closer, her breath warm against his skin.

"You better not betray me, Ziyan," she whispered, her voice trembling with an emotion she wasn't used to showing. "I don't want to hurt you."

She stared at him for a few more seconds. Then, with a sigh, she turned around, her back facing him as she settled into the bed beside him. The moment she did so, Ziyan's eyes fluttered open.

The next morning when Vesna woke up, she found herself alone in the room. She sat up and looked at Ziyan's side of the bed. She slipped out of bed and was about to leave the room to go to her apartment to change when she saw a dress draped neatly over the couch.

Vesna walked over to the couch and picked up the red dress. The design was classic—a fitted bodice with a flared skirt. A bemused smile touched Vesna's lip as held the red dress up to her body.

"Why the red though?" she asked out loud but still decided to wear the dress.

She went to the bathroom to freshen up and was momentarily surprised to find all the nearly bought female products there. At this rate, she wouldn't need to bring anything here from her apartment.

She took a bath before changing into the dress. Once she was done getting ready, she walked out of the room to find Ziyan already present at the dining table eating his breakfast. There was an older woman moving around the kitchen.

"Good morning," Vesna took a seat at the table while she stared at the woman.

"Morning," Ziyan answered.

"Good morning, young madam Luo," the woman appeared before her with steaming breakfast and placed it before Vesna. Once she was done, she walked back into the kitchen as if she did not want to disturb the newly wedded couple.

Vesna leaned closer towards Ziyan and whispered, "Who is she?"

"That is Nanny Hong. She used to look after me since I was a child."

"Oh," Vesna nodded her head before asking further, "but what is she doing here now? I don't remember seeing her here before."

"Nainai sent her," was all Ziyan said and for Vesna to understand everything.

Vesna started to eat her breakfast before she suddenly remembered something, "thanks for the dress. I like it a lot."

'Me too', Ziyan thought as he looked at her frame through the glasses.

"By the way, later I will bring some of my things into your room from my apartment. I hope you won't mind," Vesna told him.

"There won't be any need for that," Ziyan said as he put his fork on the table. "I have a mansion in the city and Nainai wants us to move there."

"Why?" Vesna asked, sounding confused.

"Because now that we're married, it's time to return to return home," he repeated the same thing his Nainai had said to him in the phone call earlier.

Vesna's brow furrowed. "But isn't your home in the capital city?"

"That place would never be his home," Ziyan replied, his voice cold.

Vesna stared at him for a couple of seconds before she resumed her breakfast. "Understood."
