Chapter 22: She Is Ji-Won

While Chief was on the phone with Headquarters, receiving instructions on what they needed to do, the nurse who had left earlier returned and informed them, "Sir, the operation was successful."

Upon hearing this, everyone's spirits lifted, as they knew that everything would become clear once they saw the injured woman's face to determine if she was Ji-Won or not.

By hearing this, everyone regained their spirit because everything would come to light if they saw the face of the injured woman to know if she is Ji-Won or not.

Chief and all the team members followed the nurse to go and wait for the opening of the gate of the operation room, and started waiting there impatiently.

The tension in the room reached its peak as the stretcher emerged from the operation room. The rhythmic beeping of the medical equipment echoed in the corridor, creating an uneasy backdrop to the moment. Chief and the team members leaned forward, their eyes fixed on the figure lying on the stretcher.

As the medical professionals maneuvered the stretcher into the waiting area, the patient's face gradually came into view. A collective hush fell over the group, and time seemed to slow. Chief's heart pounded in his chest as he focused on the face, searching for any sign that would confirm or deny the identity of the injured woman.

The room held its breath, and then, there it was – the face of the patient became visible to everyone. Chief's eyes widened, and a mix of emotions flickered across his face. It was Ji-Won, battered and bruised, but unmistakably her. The relief that washed over the team was palpable.

"Sir, She is Ji-Won" Detective Kim said this happily while looking at the face of the Chief.

A wave of emotions swept through the group – relief, joy, and a renewed sense of determination. Ji-Won's condition, while serious, was now under the care of the hospital staff. The team surrounded the stretcher, their concern etched on their faces as they observed the medical professionals attending to Ji-Won.

Chief, despite his relief, remained focused. He knew that their mission was far from over. They needed to find out who had orchestrated Ji-Won's abduction and why. Turning to the nurse who had provided the initial update, Chief inquired about Ji-Won's overall condition and the details of the operation.

"What about her condition?" Chief asked, and all the team members also looked toward the doctor, wanting to get the answer.

The doctor who was standing near her explained her condition, saying, "She is perfectly fine and the operation was successful, but she will have to take rest for a few weeks to recover from the injury because she has experienced heavy blood loss. It is impossible for her to rejoin her duty before 1 or 2 months."

Hearing this, everyone also became relaxed.

"Doctor, do you know how much time it will take for her to regain consciousness?" Chief Lee asked the doctor.

"She might regain consciousness either before tonight or possibly tomorrow morning," the doctor truthfully answered.

The doctor moved from there and they started to take her to the recovery room. Chief and all the team members started to follow her, and then Chief asked the nurse or doctor.

"Can you please change her room to the VIP ward room?" Chief asked the nurse, wanting to provide a good place for his daughter to be in a peaceful environment, which might help her recover more quickly.

"She is already assigned to a room and her payment is also done," the nurse said, facing Chief Lee as she verified from her document.

"I know that her fees are already paid, but I want her to be in a private room where she can recover in peace," Chief said to the nurse. He also knew everything because he read it on the document.

"That's what I am saying to you, sir. The room assigned to her is a private VIP room, and the payment has been made for the whole half year," the nurse said, hearing the thoughts of the Chief. She made a weird face, not understanding what the other party wanted to say.
