Zusammenfassung

At 24 years old, Yang Yujia is an unemployed art major, living off heavy debt and instant noodles. During a high-school reunion, Yujia gets drunk, does stupid things, and when she wakes up again, Yujia is no longer in the correct world, time-period, or body. Unfortunately, as a transmigrator, Yujia does not seem to have much luck either— instead of transmigrating with a set of stunning martial arts skills, knowledge that would aid her in troubling situations, or a position of royalty that would make her life much easier, Yujia is the fourth (illegitimate) daughter of a small merchant. And what skills does she have to help her survive this world? A pretty face, witty mouth, and useless artistic talent? Good enough. ... Chapter 1Starry Nights, Dreamy Alcohol, and Lovely Paint

It was during her first high school reunion that Yang Yujia realized the true patheticness of her life.

The reunion was nothing special. Not many old classmates attended, and out of that sparse crowd, only a few individuals that Yujia could recognize were mixed inside. People seemed to think of these reunions as pointless and a waste of time— they had better things to do with their life— but for Yujia, it was a different matter.

The restaurant that the reunion was set to take place didn't have the best food, but they offered an "unlimited drinks" deal that sounded good to Yujia. In fact, anything alcoholic sounded good these days.

With one of her hands propped up against the bar and the other holding an almost empty bottle of beer, Yujia scanned the crowd with bored eyes.

There was Lu Xiaocheng on the opposite side of the room, a feminine man who was the youngest among all her classmates. Yujia faintly remembered him being picked on by all the other classmates back when they were in high school. But now he was popular with the girls for his weak, "flower boy" appearance. He was even a trainee under MS Entertainment, supposedly planning to debut in an upcoming boy group.

Huang Liyao was near Lu Xiaocheng, and Yujia didn't have to think much to remember her. Liyao was among the most annoying classmates Yujia had, as far as she could remember. The girl was always showing off and getting on Yujia's nerves. Such a diva queen. Yet now, Liyao was supposedly a teacher, her personality becoming humble and polite.

Across from both of them, stuck on his phone, was Wu Hao. What was he doing here?

Staring at him for a few moments, Yujia recalled that she used to be extremely infatuated with him, much like all the other girls in their grade. He was the prince of their high school, having a good family background as well as being tall and handsome. And now, look at him. The CEO of a large technology company. Yujia had seen an interview with him on the news the other day. To think that she used to believe that the two of them had a possibility together in the future…

Foolish teenage thoughts.

Glancing away from the crowd, Yujia grabbed the bottle of beer and tilted it upwards, draining what was left in the bottle. While she set it down on the table and asked for another one, she carelessly pulled out her phone, hearing the familiar buzz of a notification.

'[Miss Yang], thank you for applying to the position of [Associate Art Director].

However, we are sad to inform you that the position has been taken by someone else, and there is no need for you to come to the interview on [Monday].

ZYX Marketing Co.'

Staring at the automated email, Yujia winced, muttering a profanity.

She applied for tens of positions last week, believing that her art degree and talent could win her at least a few jobs to consider. However, everything turned out like usual— she couldn't even advance to the beginning interview stage for any of them.

Grabbing the bottle of beer that the nearby server just brought her, Yujia slumped against the bar and cautiously placed her phone face down. She had to suffer the consequences of breaking the phone screen the last time she received one of these rejection emails and slammed the phone down in anger. Without a stable job, she had no money. With no money, she couldn't replace or fix the smartphone. So now, Yujia was left with a broken phone screen that she didn't want to break even more.

While popping the cap of the bottle open, Yujia cursed herself for choosing to take an art major in college instead of a more sensible and logical one like an engineering degree. She hated the thought of any engineering back then, but thinking about it now, being an electrical or civil engineer seemed much better than someone mostly unemployed for two years in a row because a certain someone decided to go after an art degree.

Why was she so stupid as a high schooler?

If it weren't for her idiotic decisions and dreams back then, she wouldn't be attending this high school reunion just to get a few cheap drinks at a bar because she couldn't afford them otherwise.

Pathetic, truly pathetic. Her name would come up in the dictionary right under "pathetic" as the definition.

Taking one last look at the handsome Wu Hao standing in the corner, Yujia couldn't help but feel jealous of him. Except, truthfully, she was jealous of everyone here.

Lu Xiaocheng was about to debut as an idol anytime now. Huang Liyao was an elementary teacher, a financially stable job that would provide for her. Wu Hao— oh, Wu Hao— was a full blown CEO, constantly mentioned as a young and successful executive in countless business magazines.

And then, there was Yang Yujia. Twenty-four, unemployed, with an art major, and having instant noodles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Yujia took another sip from her new bottle of beer, finding that it was, like the previous one, empty. How much did she drink from this hour of staying at the reunion? How long did she sit there, wallowing in self-pity and self-hatred, with alcohol as her only friend?

She couldn't remember, but perhaps it was better that way.

…

The digital clock hung on the wall of Yujia's kitchen read '12:00' when Yujia stumbled in the room, holding a plastic bag filled with freebie takeout that she received from the restaurant when she asked for some. She didn't bother to turn on the light, fumbling as she reached the refrigerator. She pulled it open, throwing the box of takeout into it without much thought.

Her other hand was holding another bottle of beer, the last one that the restaurant was willing to give to her. Although the workers there certainly said that they wouldn't serve her anymore alcohol because they were afraid of her getting into trouble if she became too drunk, Yujia knew the true reason why.

The "unlimited drinks" were definitely a lie.

Continuing on with her slow, sloppy movements, Yujia dragged herself out of the kitchen, in the direction of the living room of her small rented apartment that she converted into an art studio. The wooden floors were covered with newspaper to prevent paint from spilling on them, and the papers crinkled under her feet as Yujia walked through. She ended up slumping in front of one of the canvases, staring at it from the dim lighting of a small lamp that Yujia turned on when she walked in.

The canvas had a simple, unfinished portrait of a bird, the feathers lifelike and almost jumping off the page. Looking at it, Yujia brushed her fingers across the canvas, her face twisting into a snarl.

Why wouldn't anyone buy her work?

She was talented!

The picture on the canvas was pure talent! Pure skill!

She was the top in her college, the favorite of every professor!

Yet, now…

Filled with rage, Yujia reached over, pulling open a bottle of black acrylic and splashing the paint forward at the canvas. The paint satisfyingly leapt out of the bottle, dripping over the colorful bird and masking it with the thick darkness of the acrylic. It didn't take long for the entire canvas to be invaded by the splash of sloppy, messy paint.

If Yujia was sane and sober at the moment, she would've likely regretted her decisions in less than a second. Acrylic was expensive for an unemployed artist like her. Dumping most of the bottle on the canvas was a stupid mistake that she'd be upset over later, but for now, as drunk as she was, Yujia couldn't care less.

Her hands fumbled for a bottle of beer, but Yujia found that she couldn't locate it. Perhaps she dropped it on the floor during her rage with the bird and the black acrylic.

Yujia didn't bother to search the floor for long. Instead, to fill her desire to drink more and more and more alcohol to flood all her emotions away, Yujia reached over to the next best thing— the bottles of acrylic she had by her side.

With her hazy, unfocused vision, Yujia glanced at the acrylic. Some vague part of her brain told her that the bottle was paint, not beer, but another part told her that she ran out of paint months ago, and there was only beautiful, beautiful alcohol resting inside each of the bottles.

The second part of her thoughts didn't make much sense, but at the same time, it did. Why wouldn't she use paint bottles as containers for beer? It was only sensible. It saved money.

At the thought of money, Yujia remembered that her rent was coming up again. Despair and anger rose up inside her once more, taking over all her senses. Without another thought, Yujia leaned over and pulled a bottle of orange acrylic to her.

She uncapped the bottle.

Return of the General's Daughter

This is the story of Lara, a young woman from modern times, raised with one purpose: to exact revenge on the family of the general who destroyed her own. But fate had other plans. On her way to carry out her mission of vengeance, a twist in the plan led to disaster. Lara was struck by a military truck escorting the very general she intended to assassinate. When she awoke, she found herself in an entirely different world—one where her identity and purpose were starkly different from the life she had known and how she had been molded to be. Abducted by human traffickers, she outsmarted them and escaped. Then, she encountered a mysterious martial arts master whose ancient skills far surpassed her own. For two years, she trained with him in the remote mountains.  One fateful day, while staying deep in the jungle of Mount Ourea, Lara stumbled upon the Prince of Northem, disguised as an ordinary commander. He was gravely injured while pursuing a notorious group of bandits. Lara saved him and found herself entangled in the war that raged for two years. Lara, disguised as a soldier, volunteered to deliver a very important message to the generals of the Northem army, embroiled in a fierce battle against the bandits, the rebels, and soldiers of Estalis in the Alta-Sierra mountain range. Amid the chaos, Lara was swept onto the battlefield. During the battle, fate played another cruel hand. Lara came face to face with General Odin and his sons—only to discover that General Odin was the spitting image of the general she had been trained to assassinate. Could the man from her world be a descendant of this brave general? Torn between her mission and her newfound reality, Lara faced an impossible question: How could she kill her biological father? Her internal conflict deepened when she uncovered an elaborate plot to frame General Odin and his sons as traitors. The true culprits? His subordinates and trusted allies. In an ironic twist of fate, Lara found herself becoming the 'protector' of the family that, in modern times, she was supposed to ruin. After the war, Lara returned as a hero, ready to reveal her identity to General Odin, but she learned of another betrayal. Her cousin, Mira—the orchestrator of her abduction—had taken over her identity. Mira lived in her home under the guise of comforting Lara's grief-stricken mother because of the death of her only daughter. Not only that, she also did a lot of scheming and eventually claimed Lara's betrothal to Prince Alaric. With her identity stolen and her mission turned upside down, Lara faced a new challenge: reclaiming her life and honor and protecting her new family.

Venomous Empress Reborn

# scumtorturing # rebirth She was a daughter of the general’s family and a gentle woman. She fell for Prince Ding and offered to be his wife. After supporting him for six years, she became his empress. After risking being a hostage in a foreign country, she returned five years later to find that she no longer had a place in his imperial harem. Lying in his arms, the new consort said with a sneer, “Sis, now that the country is stable, it’s time for you to die.” Her daughter died a tragic death and her son was removed as crown prince. The Shen family had been loyal, but they ended up being slaughtered. Shen Miao never thought that their marriage and mutual support all this while would end up being just an act Prince Ding put on! Prince Ding said, “On account that you’ve been with me for twenty years, I’ll allow you to die with your entire body intact. Now you may thank me and hang yourself to death.” Before she hung herself, Shen Miao made a resentful oath, “When I perish, I will haunt you day and night!” She was reborn as her fourteen year old self when the tragedies had yet to occur and her family was still intact. She was still the delicate and elegant daughter of a general’s family. Her relatives were evil, her cousin sisters were vicious and ruthless, and her aunties were eyeing her possessions. She had to protect her family, take revenge, and get back what belonged to her. In this life, she would be the last one standing! However, the Xie family’s young marquis, an unruly youth, pushed her up against the wall and said arrogantly, “Remember, the world belongs to you, and you belong to me!” The thirteen cities of You State… belong to you. The city of Dingyuan in Mobei… belongs to you. Yuzhou by the Yangtze River, the East Sea of Dingxi, the Green Lake of Lin’an, and Luoyang City… they all belong to you. If they all belong to me, what will you take, Xie Jingxing? Hmm… you. At first, he said impassively, “There has always been a clear distinction between the Shen and Xie family. For the Shen family’s daughter to suddenly show us goodwill, she must have ill intentions!” Then, he said calmly, “We're all on the same boat. Shen Miao, behave yourself. Who would have the audacity to force you into a marriage while I’m around?” After that, he said proudly, “Overthrowing an empire isn’t that hard. My dear, how shall we divide this great piece of land?” Finally, he waved his hand domineeringly. “Sweetheart, dividing them is too much work. Forget it! They’re all yours, and you are mine!” Shen Miao yelled, “Get out!” A domineering empress who was reborn and a young delinquent marquis. Both leads are righteous and they dote on each other.

The Princess and Her Rough-Rider Khan

Petite Princess VS Rough Khan On their wedding day, Yelu Yan told Li Xianyun that apart from affection, he could provide her with endless wealth and honor. After the marriage, he indeed kept his promise, cherishing her in the palm of his hand. Little did he know, the more he cherished her, the deeper she burrowed into his heart, right to the very top. Not long after the political marriage with the Khitans, Li Xianyun gradually noticed earth-shattering changes around her: Initially, the commoners who disliked her began to worship her as a deity... The court officials accusing her of bewitching their lord were now pleading with her to consummate the marriage with the Khan... The most perplexing of all was her husband in name; wasn’t he the one who said he wouldn't give her emotional affection? Why was he always following her around? Little theater scene 1: One day, Yelu Yan cornered Li Xianyun against the wall. “Why are you avoiding this Khan?” “They say you might have taken a liking to your servant.” “Remove ‘might’, isn’t it obvious enough from how this Khan acts?” “But you said you wouldn’t give your servant emotional affection.” Yelu Yan held his forehead; he had indeed said too many foolish things. “The Han people always say that one should start a family and then establish a career; clearly, the two are not in conflict.” Little theater scene 2: The sun had risen high, yet Yelu Yan was still clinging to Li Xianyun. “Get up quickly, I have to leave. There are patients on the street waiting for my consultation, the good fields to the west need irrigation, the homestead plots in the east need measuring, and I have to oversee the silk reeling and dyeing... Uh...” “Your husband is a patient, don’t you care for him?” Li Xianyun looked at the man tough enough to rival ten bulls and was utterly speechless.

Author review 3.0 b/c my old one was outdated yet again! Things that will be in this story... 1) Late romance. Romance plays a big deal later on in the story, but for the first 100, it'll be somewhat minimum. 2) No OP MC! Yujia is very flawed. She makes mistakes and she learns from them, like everyone else in life. Wrong things that she does at one point doesn't mean that she'll keep doing that b/c she's not dumb. She's just learning. 3) Drama/face slapping will all be kept to the minimum. You won't find a lot of it here, but there might be a few occasional moments where it does happen. 4) Friendship amongst female characters. This is kind of rare in Webnovel, so I wanted to make sure that I included it. Not every female character other than the FL is an antagonistic character. 5) Lots of art scenes. This is the story of an artist, at it's very root, so you can definitely expect lots of painting. 6) Royalty! 7) Lots & lots of character development, for everyone, not just the FL or ML(s). Side characters all have their own backstories. 8) Slice-of-life, but not filler chapters. I don't think that filler chapters should exist & is a sign of bad writing. You might think that one or two chapters aren't necessary to the story, but I promise that it's all evidence of the FL's progression of character. 9) Slightly slow paced story. It's not slow to the point where it drags, but the first 50 chapters or so aren't super fast paced b/c I'm still working on developing the world. The chapters later on should be much, much faster paced & exciting! 10) Decent writing. I'm not saying that it's 100% perfect, & I'm still working on editing, but in Webnovel standards, I think I have fairly good grammar & vocabulary choice! Generally, chapters should be between 700-2.5k words, which is a huge range, but sometimes, some chapters just need to be shorter, and others need to be longer. I don't know how exactly long this novel should be, but it should be 300+ chapters. That's my current prediction! Beware of the plot twists. :) That's about all I can think of for now! Hope you all enjoy reading this novel, & please do leave a review/comment if you did <3 --Yueyi

Writing Quality: 5 stars. This novel has some good grammar (not perfect) but far above webnovel standards. Author draws the line before the writing becomes over descriptive (though I have no problem with that). In a nutshell, the writing isn't verbose and anyone can enjoy this writing with immense satisfaction. Oh, Grammar Nazis can jump in without any fears. Story Development: A solid five stars. This is a slow paced story. When I say slow, it's extremely slow. And I like it. There is enough room for slow burn romance, mystery and sad flashbacks of past too. Notable points: 1. Since the author is an artist, and the story is about a troubled artist, you'll find lots of art and principles of art. You can see the author's love for art in here. Though I can barely draw a stick man, I enjoyed reading everything...from art principles to struggles of artists. 2. This story does not fall in 'the boy and girl meet and they fall in love' category. It's more like the boy and girl meet...and meet...then talk, fight, talk, maybe flirt a little...and this goes on till the day one of them has a sudden enlightenment. There is beauty in slow romance. Watching two flawed characters beginning to trust and love is more believable and memorable. We're 200 chapters in and there are barely a few hints of the upcoming romance. So, don't expect a kissing scene any time soon. You're bound to be disappointed. However, if you happen to enjoy slow burn romances, then this is the one for you. Character Design: 5 stars. There's a great character development going on...and you're not going to find any cardboard cut characters here. They make mistakes, they learn...and you'll feel as if you're invading their minds. Author does a beautiful job with her characters and you'll see each leaving their unique mark on the story. World Background: 5 stars. The setting is a fictional dynasty forged with elements of ancient China. Author did her research and her enthusiasm is reflected when she writes about antiques and relics. Stability of Updates: 4 stars. Given the solid work, I think author is doing a good job with her update schedule.

dear_KingLv5

Writing Quality: Excellent! The humor is there and despite not seeing much of it, it does make an impact in my mind even after reading to the current chapter. Updating: Don’t know quite well since I read the whole book in just under 12 hours to the current chapter. Story Development: I rated this a five though I don’t think there is a story development besides her slowly making progress to achieve her first goal. *Ahem* Not giving any spoilers. But anyway, it deserves a higher score. Character Design: I feel like the characters have a mind of their own rather than the regular prideful characters that are one sided. As Yujia progresses in the story, she shows a sign of change after transmigration. Not just change but her mindset also does in a good way. I’m surprised that this story has a good impact towards promoting Chinese webnovels since most Chinese webnovels tend to lean to the extreme version of flat characters even if there is no romance in the plot ie. racism, pride, arrogance, narrow-mindedness. I hope I’m not wrong about Yujia though. She’s a good character. World Background: I still don’t have a grasp on this kind of category but I do realize that the story does explain the setting of Yujia’s current life in a short explicit manner. It’s a good story and just mentioning what period of time Yujia is roughly living in is a good sign for readers to catch on to the traits of why things happen the way it happens. Note: This deserves a 5 star because it’s well written. Though I may have overlooked some errors (even if there was little to none), it’s a great book. I recommend reading this to pass time.

As of this review, 200 chapters have been posted. The quality of the writing is definitely on the higher spectrum as compared to other originals. I have no complaints about the grammar or the vocab. It definitely deserves its spot on the power ranking. The story itself is very fun. Each chapter makes you look forward to the next one. The author has such a knack in storytelling that you’d end up wanting to know more. If you’re here for romance, you might need to get comfortable. 200 chapters in and the most romance we’ve seen is the characters possibly crushing on one another. This shows that the author wants to stay true to the [Slow Romance] tag as it is indeed very slow. I daresay that the focus of the novel leans more towards character development and self-actualisation, or slice-of-life, rather than romance. The protagonist, Yang Yujia, transmigrated into the body of a young miss from a small merchant family from a different time period, and while she had difficulties adapting, she slowly begins to find her place in the world while learning more about herself and the person she became. My favourite thing about this story is the protagonist’s growth. She started as an egotistical and stubborn loner who refused to accept criticism, and slowly she opens herself up and changes her way of thinking, becoming more accepting and less stubborn, which allowed her to foster positive relationships with other people. The progress or the plot might not be as dynamic or bombastic as other transmigration stories, but this novel has its own irresistible charm. The peacefulness of the story mixed with a little bit of comedy and a pinch of seriousness makes PUAY a unique piece compared to other stories. Great Work, Author Yao!
