"Since there are two challengers let's start our gym battle" Norman suggested to Evan and Ash.

"Alright" ×2 responded Evan and Ash together with full of determination.

At the arena,

"So who is coming first" Asked Norman.

Before Ash was going to speak Evan step forward to the ring and Ash decided to let Evan challenge first.

Seeing this Kenny who is a referee started announcing the rules of an official match "The 3 on 3 gym challenge of Petalburg gym between the challenger,Evan and gym leader, Norman will now begin. If all three pokémon of one side looses the ability to fight, the other side will be deemed victory. And only the challenger is allowed to substitute it's pokémon."

"Okay come out, Slakoth" Norman sent gus first pokémon, slakoth.

"Then the first battle is yours, Kirlia, I choose you" "Kirlia~" Evan also calmly send out his first pokémon.

Slakoth was standing on the arena with a sleepy face, shaking his body slightly in the field.

Evan raised his eyebrows looking at the Slakoth.

"Kirlia, start with charm" Evan started unceremoniously.

Charm worked instantly on slakoth.

"No slakoth get up" Norman shouted.

"Now Kirlia, psybeam" "Kirlia~" Psybeam hit Slakoth but the effects of charm wore off.

"Slakoth, use shadow ball" Norman didn't panic chose to attack with a shadow ball.Slakoth clasped his hand and a pitch black shadow ball formed and launched it at Kirlia.

"Kirlia dodge it with teleport, followed by double team" Evan ordered confidently.

Kirlia dodged the shadow ball smoothly, "now attack with psybeam" Evan was determined to win the battle.

At this time, slakoth has already taken a lot of damages.

"Slakoth, use shadow ball again" Norman had no choice but to counter with a long range attack.

This was the first time Evan met a pokémon who was over level 62 and wondered how even Ash won his match in the anime but decided to shrug it off as he was a protagonist or maybe Norman used another slaking.

"Salamence, dragon breath" Evan launched a quick attack on Slaking.

"Roarr~~" Salamence immediately sprayed out a dragon breath.

But Slaking directly took it head on with his huge hands.

"Salamence continue to use dragon breath" Evan didn't panic and gave his order immediately.

And Slaking repeated the same trick again blocking the powerful dragon with its huge hands but the power of dragon breath was strong which also brought a damage on his hands.

Seeing this Norman gave out his next order "It's not that easy, slaking use earthquake." Slaking not only has a ridiculously high defense but also an offensive attack which cannot be underestimate.

But Evan was also not going to stand there doing nothing "Salamence, use fly to avoid earthquake"

Still Norman was calm and sent his next move "Slaking use blizzard" As a dragon and flying type pokémon it gave Salamence a great damage.

Evan couldn't help but frowned, he has to end this match as quickly as possible.

"Slaking, use grab" Norman seized the opportunity and slammed it hard.

"Salamence, let's wrap it up use the strongest dragon claw" Evan gave out his next move.

"Slaking take it head on with focus punch" Boom after the collision of dragon claw and focus punch, the two pokémon stood there for a second and bang Slaking fell down.

"Slaking is unable to battle, Salamence wins"

"Evan and that salamence is so strong" Max was whimpering seeing his father loose.

"Evan you are indeed a strong challenger to think you could defeat my slaking, still let's continue or official match, come out Vigoroth" After commenting Norman sent out his last pokémon.

"Salamence return, Blaziken, I choose you" Evan took salamence back as he was injured.

"Blazikenn~" Blaziken showed a fighting intent.

"Quick attack" Evan said calmly.

Blaziken didn't hesitate, with it's long legs, he rushed straight towards vigoroth.

The moment the two pokémon were about to collide Evan's gave out his order "use double kick, and then sky uppercut."

Blaziken suddenly disappeared in front of Vigoroth which made him stunned.

"Behind you! " Norman reminded loudly but it was already too late.

Blaziken used double kick from behind and used sky uppercut directly which made Vigoroth flew in the air.

"Now end it with, Blaze kick" Blaziken spun around and the flames wrapped it's legs, then he suddenly jumped up, and the gorgeous flame in it's leg kicked Vigoroth hard and sent directly flying out of the arena, slammed on the wall.

Evan didn't have any trouble with Vigoroth as much as he had with slaking and was easily taken down by Blaziken.

"Evan it was an astounding battle, this is the Balance badge you earned, which proves that you have defeated me" After giving an honest evaluation on Evan's battle, Norman handed the Balance Badge to Evan. "I got the Balance Badge" said Evan excitedly.

After shaking hands, Norman exchanged his pokéball and was ready start the gym match with Ash.

"Good luck" Evan walked to the place where Ash was sitting and gave him his best wishes.

"Leave it to me" After bumping fist with Evan,Ash stepped onto the battle arena.

After fighting hard, Ash managed to defeat Norman with an unexpected move overgrow with his Grovyle.

The exciting gym challenge came to an end, Evan and Ash managed to earn their fifth badge.

On the other hand although Max was whimpering that Norman lost he still accepted the fact in a tangled mood.

After earning the balance badge,Evan and Ash only needs three more badges in order to participate in Hoenn league.

And the next destination have been decided,In order to get their sixth badge they decided to head to Fortree city.
