Plundering Across the Cosmos

*Upload speed is unspecified, I will upload whenever I have free time.* *DISCLAIMER* This is NOT my original novel. I found it on an MTL website and found it fun and interesting so I decided to go down the rabbit hole and edit it with proper English (to the best of my abilities) so that others could enjoy it too. I changed the names for a lot of things, rewrote many others, and tried to make this story read as fluently as possible. If I'm being honest, the whole novel may have been exciting in its original language, but it isn't in English. So like I said before, I'm pretty much rewriting this novel to my liking, still following the original plot and story, but adding A LOT to it. So it technically is a fanfic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. If you guys want to go read the original MTL, its original author was "banana too dog" under the original title of "I Plunder Endlessly In the Interstellar Age" *END OF DISCLAIMER* In the interstellar era, gangs and predators run rampant across the galaxy. Ajax, a skilled artisan crafting energy blocks, finds himself at the bottom of society, subjected to relentless bullying. He plunges into the shadows to ensure his survival, ultimately joining a notorious gang. Ajax stumbles upon a remarkable discovery along his journey – a super warship capable of upgrading limitlessly, given the availability of resources. With this newfound power, he establishes the infamous bandit gang "Reapers." This marks the beginning of an era characterized by endless plundering and ruthless exploits.

Chapter 44

Monkey tried to cover Lily's eyes and prevent her from seeing such a gruesome sight, but Lily slipped from his grasp and watched the scene unfold with shining eyes.

Although Alex looked miserable, no one felt any empathy or pity for him, instead they felt that it was a shame to stay in the same camp with such an excuse for a human being. Bomen wasn't blind to the sentiment toward his cousin, but he ignored it, objectively believing that as long as Alex remained within the organization, the people in the Lazoole Society would be disheartened.

Without taking much time to think, Bomen gave Alex an ultimatum: "You have fucked up. Big time, this isn't something I can just overlook anymore because we're family. You have a few days to pack your shit and skip town, I can't guarantee your safety for much longer than that."

Hearing Bomen's words and the expulsion of Alex, the crowd of onlookers quickly dispersed.

Bomen then gave Ajax a look and motioned for him to tag along and go get the eddies for Lily and her mother, leaving Alex alone on the ground.

He stared at his mangled ear at a loss. It was covered in sand and had been turned to paste, and his severed finger was nowhere to be found, making his heart ache. Alex looked viciously in the direction that Ajax and Bomen had left, no one knew what he was thinking.

Bomen stayed true to his promise from earlier, he took out 200,000 eddies from the safe and handed them to Ajax. He didn't want to involve himself in this matter any further and he didn't want Ajax to have a problem with him because of it. Bomen then told Ajax that he was needed in the mining area as soon as possible before leaving in a hurry with his men. There is still much work awaiting for him in the business district.

Ajax walked to Lily, who was standing next to Monkey, and handed her the stack of eddies, "Here, take this back to your mother, and remember to say that Uncle Bomen gave it to you, don't mention me."

"Wow, so much?" Lily looked from the eddies to Ajax and back at the eddies, with her mouth agape the entire time.

"Your father fought valiantly to gain it. Let your mother take you out of here and go live a normal life in one of the cities." Ajax said with a grin.

Although he had no idea of how much it was that Lily and her family owed, there was no way it would be more than 200,000 eddies, it should be enough.

"Don't you want to keep some? You were the one who got these." Lily looked at the eddies and raised her head again.

"No, it's alright, I didn't earn this." Ajax squatted down, patted Lily's head, and put the zombie knife in her hand, "Remember not to let anyone bully you in the future. If you don't resist the first time you're bullied, then you will be bullied for the rest of your life."

This is the bitter truth of life that it took Ajax more than ten years to grasp.

"Okay." Lily took the eddies from Ajax's hand, and also the zombie knife and attempted to look serious and intimidating, but her immature face just made her look like a pouting child.

"Brother Ajax, the boss was standing right next to you and you still decided to chop Alex's ear off right in front of him. What if this becomes a point of conflict in the future, for your lack of respect towards him..." Monkey asked in a low voice when he saw no one around.

"Bomen is not a man to hold grudges over such trivial things, he'll ignore it as long as I do the right thing." Ajax grinned.

"If you say so." Monkey nodded with a shrug.

"Okay, accompany her back home, and watch over them for me for a few days." Ajax looked at the dark sky and pointed to Lily. Although the matter had been resolved, Ajax was worried that Alex would wait for an opportunity to retaliate, so he had to guard against it.

He was kind of angry about not being able to kill Alex, it would have been great if Bomen had intervened just a couple of seconds later...

Watching the disappearing silhouettes of Monkey and Lily as they walked into the night, Ajax breathed a sigh of relief. When they were no longer visible, he walked back towards his residence.

If he had the ability to help the man's family, then he should also be able to settle his own worries and have a clear conscience.

The Hell's League had been eerily quiet for the next few days. They had made no movements and nothing happened in the camp. Bomen was recruiting new operators aggressively, and the Viper Mercenaries had also gained two or three hundred new operators, stepping up training.

Taking advantage of his spare time, Ajax has been tinkering with the destroyed mechs, extracted a large number of intact parts, and repaired three mechs with minor damage, including two Knight-Level mechs and one Rakshasa-Level mech.

Ajax let Monkey take the two Knight-Level mechs to the trading area and sold them at a low price. Together with some unnecessary accessories and weapons, they made a profit of 240,000 eddies.

As for the Rakshasa-Level mech, Ajax had no intention of selling it at a low price. If he could not find someone who could offer him a good price for it, he would choose to keep it by his side as a spare mech.

In addition to what he got from Charles before, and deducting the eddies he spent recently, Ajax currently had about 300,000 eddies on him. It was inconvenient to keep so many eddies around, so Ajax also bought a Vox for 3,000 eddies, opened an account in its Skynet, and deposited all of his eddies in it.

Skynet eddies were much more convenient to use, no matter which star system, galaxy, shit maybe even a whole other universe, as long as the Vox was in use, he could use his eddies.

Looking at the Vox in his hand, Ajax wanted to contact Alana, wondering how she was doing, and whether she was troubled for her connection to him. But after thinking about it, Ajax held back, mainly because he was afraid that Alana would ask him what he was doing. He couldn't say that he was fighting at the border? That he had killed a lot of people? That he had become a ruthless killer with a fitting mech named the Reaper? Right?

Lily and her mother had the eddies given by Ajax, which was more than enough to repay all of their debts. They were packing their luggage and were planning to return to the Blauth Empire and live a normal life in the near future.

Every day Lily would arrive early at Ajax's residence, watch Ajax disassemble accessories, repair mechs, learn related knowledge, memorize the name and effect of each accessory, learn quickly, eat nearly twenty chicken thighs.....then go back home at night

One day, Lily took advantage of Ajax's lack of attention, snuck into the Rakshasa-Level mech, forcibly connected with it, and successfully activated it. Ajax was startled when he saw the mech making its way towards him and quickly dragged Lily out.

It was common sense that children under the age of sixteen should not be allowed to connect to a mech due to the large number of studies that have shown that their brain power cannot withstand the impact of connecting to the mech and were prone to sudden death. The younger the child, the greater the probability.

For example, the famous Apollo Academy only recruits students around sixteen years old. In the first year, they learn mech-related knowledge, and in the second they train their brains. Then come years of learning accessories and various weapons, participating in confrontations, and finally graduating.

Lily was around ten years old, yet she still connected to the Rakshasa-Level mech which gave Ajax a panic attack thinking that she would die here. However, Lily was fine, although she did suffer a nosebleed, she was still smiling.

Now it was Ajax's turn to be shocked. He was fourteen years old when he secretly activated a mech for the first time, something that would be considered a miracle. Lily was talented. She had not been trained to pilot a mech at this young age, she would give everyone heart attack if she ever spoke a word of today's events.

Ajax strictly prohibited Lily from doing this ever again. However, Lily obviously heeded no mind to his rules and if Ajax wasn't pay attention, she would sneak into the mech. Each time she did so, the connection time was getting longer and longer.

After finally giving in and confirming that Lily could bear the load, Ajax let Lily mess around in the Rakshasa-Level mech, a genius couldn't be stopped...
