Plundering Across the Cosmos

*Upload speed is unspecified, I will upload whenever I have free time.* *DISCLAIMER* This is NOT my original novel. I found it on an MTL website and found it fun and interesting so I decided to go down the rabbit hole and edit it with proper English (to the best of my abilities) so that others could enjoy it too. I changed the names for a lot of things, rewrote many others, and tried to make this story read as fluently as possible. If I'm being honest, the whole novel may have been exciting in its original language, but it isn't in English. So like I said before, I'm pretty much rewriting this novel to my liking, still following the original plot and story, but adding A LOT to it. So it technically is a fanfic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. If you guys want to go read the original MTL, its original author was "banana too dog" under the original title of "I Plunder Endlessly In the Interstellar Age" *END OF DISCLAIMER* In the interstellar era, gangs and predators run rampant across the galaxy. Ajax, a skilled artisan crafting energy blocks, finds himself at the bottom of society, subjected to relentless bullying. He plunges into the shadows to ensure his survival, ultimately joining a notorious gang. Ajax stumbles upon a remarkable discovery along his journey – a super warship capable of upgrading limitlessly, given the availability of resources. With this newfound power, he establishes the infamous bandit gang "Reapers." This marks the beginning of an era characterized by endless plundering and ruthless exploits.

Chapter 30

Hopping on the transport truck, he patted the roof, and Monkey started driving to the battlefield.

After leaving the camp, they drove for nearly 30 minutes and arrived in an area Ajax didn't recognize at all. There were no buildings surrounding them, and the vegetation was scarce. The landscape was dominated mostly by rocks as far as the eye could see—an ideal location for an ambush.

Ajax could already hear explosions in the distance, and black smoke still lingered in the air.

"Monkey, stop." Ajax tapped the roof of the transport truck and spoke through the mech's external speakers.

"What's the matter? We need to drive ahead to get there." Monkey's face turned pale as he was also afraid. The news of many operators being ambushed and killed in the morning had already spread.

"No need, I'll go on foot from here on out. Find a place to hide." Ajax maneuvered the Reaper and jumped off of the transport truck.

The terrain was rough, and the limited field of vision made mech armor much more convenient.

"But..." Monkey wanted to say something else, but Ajax had already used his thrusters to boost himself onto a four-meter-high boulder.

Since his budget system couldn't provide him with any auxiliary functions like terrain detection and enemy warnings, Ajax had to rely on his own vigilance to move forward. As he got closer to the battlefield, the gunfire and explosions grew louder.

His current position offered a high vantage point, overlooking the battlefield directly below, so Ajax pulled out the beam rifle from behind the Reaper, maintaining all other weapons on standby.

About 20 meters ahead, a group of armed men could be seen shooting down. Ajax noticed the unfamiliar attire and realized that they did not belong to the Lazoole Society,

Ajax kept Alex's reminder in mind. After two seconds of observation, the Vulcan on the Reaper's neck and the shoulder cannon were simultaneously activated, emitting a series of red and blue laser beams.

The Hell's League members focused on the battlefield below and failed to realize that an enemy had come from behind them. Ajax's attack caught them off guard and they were turned to red mist and chunks of meat.

The scene surprised even Ajax. In just a second, a dozen lives turned into chunks of carnage, the sight of which made him somewhat uncomfortable.

A week ago, he was a law-abiding citizen commuting to work on time every day. Now, a week later, he was fighting on the border battlefield, taking multiple lives in one breath, it was surreal. But the still painful wound on his face reminded Ajax of all he had gone through and done in the past couple of days.

Killing and burning the midnight oil, a far cry from his previously mundane life. If the world was unfair, then he would make his own justice.

With the sound of a huge explosion, Ajax's thoughts were pulled back to the battlefield.

No longer paying attention to the carnage he had just caused, he walked to the edge of the hillside and carefully observed the scene below.

The Hell's League was engaged in a firefight with the rescue team.

Enemies occupied the surrounding high points and passes, forcing the second and third waves of rescue teams to gather amidst the wreckage of destroyed vehicles and corpses. Although the rescue team had nearly 70 people, the Hell's League outnumbered them.

The most prominent were the four mechs of the Hell's League, three Knight-Level and one Parallax-Level, forming an intense firepower network like a battlefield meat grinder.

Initially, there were three mechs on Lazoole Society's side too, but at this point, one had been blown up, and the other two were badly damaged, struggling to support themselves against the onslaught. These two mechs were the hope of the rescue team. If they fell, the rest would be helpless.

After assessing the balance of power, Ajax quickly formulated a plan. The Hell's League had advantages in position and mechs. Ajax remained undetected, a key factor in turning the tide. However, while contemplating, another mech from the rescue team was hit and put out of commission, putting the rescue team in jeopardy.

The next second, Ajax activated the Particle Compression Cannon that came with the Reaper. The chest armor separated, and blue light gathered into a line, targeting the strongest mech among them, the Parallax-Level mech.

Two seconds later, the Particle Compression Cannon was fully charged. A red laser beam shot out and hit the Parallax-Level Mech on the side and rear. But just a moment before, the Hell's League pilot, a veteran, instinctively rolled over went he felt something was off, barely avoiding a fatal hit. Although he was hit, the damage was severe but not lethal.

"There's someone up there!" The pilot shouted, and instantly, over a dozen rifles aimed at Ajax's position.

At this point, Ajax had no intention of hiding anymore. The beam rifle in his hand, the Vulcan cannon on his neck, and the shoulder cannon started firing salvos, focusing on the wounded Parallax-Level mech.

"Cover me!" The pilot being targeted felt the imminent threat of death and immediately asked his teammates for help. The remaining three mechs responded swiftly. Two Roscoe-type mechs aimed their muzzles left and right to block Ajax's position, while a Trailblazer-type mech started ascending.

However, it was too late. Ajax had already initiated his attack and within three seconds, at least fifty lasers from various weapons were fired at the Parallax-Level mech with impaired mobility.

This time, the Parallax-Level mech wasn't as lucky and its cockpit was shredded to pieces before a round hit its core, causing it to explode.

Ajax quickly retreated as the Lazoole Society's rescue team noticed his actions and understood that reinforcements had arrived. Their spirits were revitalized and they began to counterattack.

The Hell's League was in disarray, torn between dealing with Ajax or suppressing the rescue team. However, they were all elite members of the Hell's League and quickly recovered, reorganizing their formation. Two mechs pursued Ajax, while the other maintained suppression of the rescue team.

At this time, the Trailblazer-type mech finally reached a higher position, charging toward Ajax brandishing an ax-shaped energy weapon.

Another Roscoe-type mech locked onto Ajax and opened fire to cover his teammate.

Ajax continued his retreat, returning fire as he reached a crevice on the hillside.

This gave the Trailblazer-type mech an opportunity. The crevice was over 30 meters high, with people from Hell's League below. Ajax had to make a choice as soon as the Trailblazer-type mech gained on him.

When it was about 5 meters away from Ajax, he made a daring leap.
