"Oh, and when I say within reason I mean no asking to become a god and none of the three big O's."
[Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotence]
I stood there stunned for a good long while. The words Fagrah spoke resonated with me as if awakening a need I didn't know I had. Not a greedy, lust filled need, no this is a pure and childlike one.
I never once thought that this was a dream or some kind of trick. It felt too real and Fagrah's presence was enough to soothe my thoughts and calm my mind, which further allowed me to think clearer than ever before.
Just as I was about to make my first wish I heard his voice cut me off as a small golden hand was raised in my direction.
"Take your time and think it over. I am in no rush. There is no monkey's paw with me, no trick or game. If it is within my power, I will grant you what it is you desire. Of that I promise you. So don't rush into this without thinking. It's not something you want to regret later on."
He's right. I almost blew a wish just to get rich quickly so I would never have to worry about money again.
But that's thinking WAY too small and FAR too simple.
"I'll tell you this now since you may not know. As a descendent of one of Arthur's Knights you and your family have a natural gift for the art of war as well as an instinctual ability to handle all forms of weaponry to a certain degree. Not to mention your resistance to sickness and disease and your families rather impressive stamina. Your kin also tend to have a longer lifespan and remain in their prime for a greater duration than most humans.
However, once I grant your wishes, regardless of what they are, you will have been bathed in my power and therefore every part of you will be strengthened. In some places you may even be considered a Demi God. This will allow you to live longer than any other in your ancestral line. You won't be super human, but you will stand above what humanity can achieve through physical feats alone."
When Fagrah paused to let me take in his words a smile bloomed on my face and I nodded for him to continue. My excitement growing with every passing second.
"Adding this to the natural gifts granted by Merlin to those in your lineage means you won't be able to die of old age until your no less than 150 years old. During this time you will retain your strength and stay at your prime until the final few decades of your life. You will also be immune to ALL forms of illness, toxins and infection once my power flows into you.
I thought it best you know of those factors before making your wishes. Just in case you were to make one that gave you something similar to what you would already gain."
Once the voice had finally ceased all I could think about was what had been said. The words revolved around my mind like lightning as I began to understand all the things in my life I never noticed before.
Like how I could pick up any form of weapon and use it better than most beginners without proper training, or how my body hardly went out of shape, even when I didn't exercise for long periods of time.
The biggest one was the explanation for why the people in my family have always looked so young. I used to attribute it to good genetics. I never would have guessed it literally comes from the magic in our blood.
'I wonder if it's also the reason for my eidetic memory, faster reflexes and seemingly enhanced senses.'
Once I pieced everything together I started to ponder on what I could possibly ask for from a literal God.
It took nearly an hour, but I deeply thought it through and now I'm finally ready. Or at least as ready as I'll ever be.
Fagrah had stayed in the kitchen, levitating over the sink while seemly in deep thought himself.
"So you've made up your mind have you? Well then, go on Micheal, name your wishes and I shall grant them."
After a brief moment of hesitation I spoke up with a clear and firm voice.
"For my first wish, I want the ability to travel through time to any moment I wan't to. No matter what universe I'm in I want to be able to go both forward and backward in time as well as the ability to stop time completely if I so choose. I also don't want to be effected by anything I change if I go back in time or create an alternate reality."
Fagrah nodded for me to continue with my next wish so I did.
"For my second wish, I would like a complementary power, the ability to willingly travel to any point in any and every conceivable universe and possible reality in existence with only a thought. Even those from fiction and fantasy."
Once more the featureless figure nodded at me and I moved on to my last wish.
"As for my third and final request, I wish to be given the power of Omnikinesis. The ability to control anything and everything around me with the power of my mind."
Fagrah once more seemed to be deep in thought when I finally finished speaking. He stayed that way for around 10 minutes of deafening silence before finally responding.
"Hmm, the only thing I can't give you is the ability to warp reality through Omnikinesis. Meaning you cannot create matter, only control its shape and form. Other than that minor limitation I see no problem in your wishes.
I would however advise you not to abuse your power. Especially time travel. If you mess about with the flow of time not only can you adversely effect those around you as well as those you've never met, but you could also bring the notice of whatever god from the universe you happen to be in at the time. I can tell you now, very few of them enjoy hosting planewalkers such as yourself. And It will be even worse if you mess around too much with the flow of time in their domain.
You should also be weary of appearing anywhere you already exist. That's an easy way to draw unwanted attention from the God or Gods governing the dimension your in."
When the small glowing entity finished speaking I saw the same golden glow that had drawn me to the kitchen shine from deep within it's small eyes as the light fell upon me, enveloping me in its radiance.
I could immediately feel the difference, as if every cell in my body was being invigorated and empowered, altered and reformed.
It was intoxicating.
I could feel the powers becoming one with me as if they had always been there.
My mind felt clearer than ever before and my body felt lighter yet somehow more powerful. Though my bodies changes were minor compared to the ones I couldn't see, I could still feel them.
When the feeling finally faded It took me awhile to calm down.
Looking up once I finally did I immediately noticed the lack of light. It was then I realized I had been left alone in an empty room. With the power still out.
Fagrah was nowhere to be seen.
The only sign the god was ever here is the cracked and broken sphere that held him prisoner for nearly two thousand years.
Just as I thought about where he might go I heard that ancient and wise voice echo into my mind.
"Goodbye Micheal Richardson, we will likely never meet again. May you live a long and happy life with your newfound gifts."
