78. Ugly Man

A smooth, velvety voice broke the silence of the night, "That was a good move."

RuQian lifted her head to stare into the shadows where she could now see the silhouette of a tall man. She always thought she was tall but she would only reach this man's jaw if they stood beside each other and this was when she was wearing her high heels.

"I don't really like talking to strangers and I most certainly don't talk to people who are scared of showing themselves." The man didn't react and just stood quietly listening to her. 'Dumb RuQian why are you trying to piss off a dangerous man?' She asked herself but she just couldn't control her mouth. "You must be really ugly if you're this afraid and are staying in the dark, huh?" She smirked, cocking her head to the side when she heard the man let out a dark chuckle which made her gulp nervously. 'What the freaking hell is wrong with me? I really lost my mind after touching that rat bastard if not why would I be this rude to a man that I feel is clearly very dangerous. Maybe this is the side effect of touching that rat.'

The man took a step forward coming out of the shadows, "Darkness is an old friend sweetheart. Don't you think so?" RuQian's alert mind and her tightly strung body relaxed at once when it recognized the familiar face. Her lips parted slightly, her eyes widened the slightest bit gazing at that familiar handsome face. She had been haunted by those gray eyes ever since she remembered her childhood.

There was a barely held mischief in those shining gray eyes. Those thin lips were pulled up in a slight smirk. He was wearing a dark blue, almost a black suit. Mu Chen chuckled when he saw her awestruck expression. She was so gorgeous, he didn't even have words to describe how beautiful she was. Looking at her through a screen and seeing her directly was so different. She was so much more alluring in person.

He had arrived before the cake cutting. He was mesmerised when he first saw her. She seemed different in a dress, she was beautiful either way but there was something different. Maybe it was just the fact that she didn't look like a teenager when she wore a gown. He shook himself out of his reverie when he remembered she was just a teenager. 'What the heck is wrong with you man. She's just a kid. Shame on you!' He chided himself quickly.

But it was nice seeing her kick that douchebag away, she did not really harm him much but Mu Chen was happy to see with his own eyes that she did not have any feelings for that sleazebag. He chuckled again when he saw how she was staring openly at him. He felt how she was on alert but had relaxed slightly after seeing his face. He just did not know whether it was because she knew of him or just thought he was good looking.

"Still think I'm ugly?" Mu Chen smiled slightly enjoying her leering expression.

"Uh uh.." RuQian shook her head on reflex. Mu Chen chuckled at her honesty. RuQian sucked in a sharp breath staring at that handsome smile on Mu Chen's face. He usually had a calm face but he was way more handsome when he laughed and this was just a small laugh. She suddenly had the urge to see how handsome he would be when he laughed openly without any restraints.

"So I'm handsome huh?" He questioned once again with a quirked brow and a calm face.

"Yes." RuQian calmly replied schooling her features. She saw his eyes visibly darken at her admission. 'Is he angry? I am just being honest dude, don't get mad at me.' She saw how he took a few deep breaths to calm himself down with half lidded eyes and then another realization dawned on her. 'Don't tell me he is turned on? He isn't, is he? He's got way too many options of women, he wouldn't want a kid like me, even if I'm a woman in my soul, he doesn't know that. Ah it's just my imagination.'

"You should be careful with what you say to men, kitten, and that too when you are alone in the dark with one." He warned her.

"Hah! You don't have to tell me how to talk and more importantly I can take care of myself mister." RuQian calmly replied with a raised eyebrow. On the inside, her inner slutty woman was jumping around, 'Gosh, he was turned on. He is attracted to me. Shit, calm down RuQian, you can't show your true feelings to him.'

He let out a sigh, "What are you doing out here kitten? It's your party isn't it?" He questioned coming to stand beside her looking down at the bustling city.

RuQian turned around to stare at the citylights and let out a sigh herself, "It felt stifling in there. Who are you by the way?" She questioned him, taking another sip of her delicious drink. 'Did he just call me kitten? Why am I a kitten? How did I become a kitten?'

He took some time to reply to her, she could understand why he was taking his time. He couldn't tell her who he was and he didn't know whether she remembered him. RuQian was very good at reading micro expressions. She had seen how he had been trying to check and analyze if she knew him when he had first revealed his face. She did not show anything on her face apart from the admiration she held for him, so there was no way he could tell her his real name.

"Just another guest in your huge party. I am no one important really." He avoided telling her his name.

RuQian snickered inside, he was no one important? Hah. What a joke. "So the not an important one doesn't have a name?" She pressed on playing with him. 'What else will you say now?'

"I am surprised you are not kicking me out of here like you did with the other guy. You didn't ask for his name either." Mu Chen tried to say the gibberish that came to his mind to distract her. He shoved his hands in his pockets, his jacket covered arm touching her bare one. The contact caused goosebumps on her arm, but she made no move to break the slight contact.

"I know his name, I didn't have to ask for it."

"Oh really?"

"Uh huh, his name's rat bastard."

Mu Chen choked on his next words, his eyes widening slightly as he turned his head to stare at her face. "You're telling me that his name is rat bastard?"

"Uh huh." RuQian smirked very slightly, happy to have gotten a reaction out of this composed man.

"His given name?"

"That I don't know and frankly I don't care. He looked and behaved like a rat bastard, so he is one."

Mu Chen was really impressed by her. She really acted as if she did not know who that Chang guy was.

"You still didn't tell me your name."

Mu Chen really wanted to tell her his name and then see her reaction but he had a niggling feeling that she already knew who he was. So he was stuck at a cross road not knowing what to do. "Just an acquaintance of your grandfather, if he feels there's a need for you to know of me he will introduce us."
