Once again, another conversation with August had left him thoughtful and his mood somber. Thinking back to this most recent one, Hade let out a stifled mirthless chuckle.
While he was certainly no stranger to the system of quid pro co due to his dealings with Darla and several interactions with Luck, he had absolutely zero intentions of becoming anyone's lackey.
In fact, the mere thought of it irked him almost as much as the prospect of turning into a mindless vessel of a prehistoric fiend... if not even more so.
