Chapter 39.1 : Umit!!

Umit fidgeted uneasily as he stepped onto the deck, gazing out at the distant coastline.

He couldn't stop rubbing his hands together, beginning to regret whether he had been too adventurous.

He was a renowned shipping magnate in the New World, known as the Deep Ocean Current.

His business had been thriving, but two years ago, a world economic news report suddenly published a story claiming that Sea Prism Stones could emit waves that mimic the ocean. 

If these stones were embedded in the bottom of a ship, they could deceive Sea Kings and thus allow for a smooth crossing of the Calm Belt.

The Calm Belt, which once isolated the Four Seas from the Grand Line, was no longer an obstacle. The Four Seas and the Grand Line would be connected like never before.

Many competitors risked everything to acquire Sea Prism Stones and began assembling fleets to travel directly between the New World and the North and West Seas—something that had previously been a major hassle.

Umit was no exception. He invested a fortune to quickly assemble a fleet capable of crossing the Calm Belt and soon made a substantial profit from this trade.

However, Umit was not satisfied.

He wanted to build an even larger fleet to earn more profit.

There was just one problem.

Sea Prism Stones were incredibly rare.

It was nearly impossible to buy enough Sea Prism Stones on the open sea. To assemble his small fleet, Umit had already exhausted all his resources, and he couldn't gather more Sea Prism Stones.

So, Umit made a risky decision.

He decided to travel to the source of the Sea Prism Stones to purchase them!

And now he found himself here, in Wano Country.

Anyone slightly well-informed in the New World knew that Wano Country was the world's largest source of Sea Prism Stones, or rather, that this country was the only one capable of continuously supplying Sea Prism Stones.

However, this country was now occupied by the Beasts Pirates, and to purchase Sea Prism Stones from there, one had to deal with the Beasts Pirates.

Resolute, Umit contacted the Beasts Pirates.

It turned out to be much easier than he had imagined. The Beasts Pirates agreed to his request quite readily, and thus, Umit arrived in Wano Country.

Although he had arrived with great ambition, once he disembarked at the port and all his guards were required to stay behind, Umit began to regret his decision.

The Beasts Pirates had a notorious reputation in the New World.

But it was too late to turn back. The pirates stationed at the port eyed him warily.

Umit had no choice but to steel himself as he used a massive elevator to step onto Wano Country's land. From there, he took a boat from Habu Port to enter the inland sea and was now on his way to the Beasts Pirates' stronghold, Onigashima.

Umit clenched his hands tightly, feeling the sweat dampening his palms as he gazed at the coastline.

Along the shore, he could spot a factory now and then, with smoke gently rising from its chimneys. Though it was not close, Umit could still see the workers coming and going inside the factory.

In the past two years, the Beast Pirates had been thriving in the weapon trade. Those weapons must be coming from these factories.

This once-great Golden Country, which had been shunned by all the ambitious souls of the sea, had now completely turned into a factory for the Beast Pirates.

Soon, Onigashima came into view.

The large skull with its prominent horns was clearly visible even from a distance.

Umit's anxiety, which had already been heightened, now felt like it was rising to his throat.

Was he about to face the legendary Kaido of the Hundred Beasts?

The large ship docked at the harbor of Onigashima. Umit straightened his clothes, preparing to disembark.

No matter what, he was here now, right?

But just as he steadied himself on the dock, a group of furious individuals jumped down from the ship's railing behind him.

"Traitor to Heaven! Swear to kill Ian!"

They wielded knives and daggers, shouting such slogans as they charged straight into the skull.

Huh?

Umit was utterly confused.

What?

Who is Ian?

Who are these people?

What's going on?

Nearby, a furious Beast Pirates crew member on the dock shouted, "Another bunch of clueless idiots sneaking in! Stop them! Don't let them disturb Lord Ian!"

He immediately turned and yelled at the ship, "What are you all doing now? How many times has this happened?"

The pirates on the ship were also fuming, "These bastards have been working in the port for over a year! How was I supposed to know they could hide for so long!"
