Chapter 44: Atomic Samurai

Normally, to graduate from the training camp, one must undergo a graduation assessment.

Then Zephyr proceeded to commission Quake and Fergus. They were granted the rank of Marine Lieutenant Commander.

Even if they had stayed in the Marne training camp for the full three years before graduating, at most, they would have received the rank of Marine Captain. 

But now, after only half a year, they were being granted the rank of Lieutenant Commander, which could be considered a rapid promotion.

Perhaps this was Sengoku's small consolation to comfort Byakuya for not becoming a Marine Vice Admiral.

Three days ago, after being promoted to Rear Admiral, Byakuya needed to guard a territory like any other Marine officer, to deter pirate activities.

Typically, newly graduated Marines like Byakuya would be stationed at the Main Base of one of the Four Blues. 

Such as Loguetown in the East Blue, to gain experience in weaker seas before being considered for transfer to Grand Line bases. 

However, placing Byakuya in the Four Blues was deemed wasteful due to his exceptional strength.

Therefore, Sengoku arranged for Byakuya to be stationed at the Sabaody Archipelago, closer to the Marine Headquarters and convenient for meetings with Zephyr. 

If anything happened due to Byakuya's lack of experience, they could respond more quickly. 

It could be said that Sengoku's arrangement took both Zephyr and Byakuya into consideration. 

Byakuya also received World Source Power rewards for graduating early and being promoted to Rear Admiral.
