Near the polar circle in the North Sea, a streak of lightning rapidly flashed through the overcast sky. Behind it, tens of thousands of meters away, a humanoid figure tore through the sky, clearly targeting the lightning ahead.
"Why are you chasing me? Why don't you go after Roger!?" Nicholas, flying in front, shouted desperately at the figure closing in behind him. He didn't want to confront the opponent whose abilities seemed nearly invincible. If he made even one mistake against this boss behind the Celestial Dragons, it would be over for him.
Imu did not respond to Nicholas's question. For her, dealing with Nicholas had come at a significant cost. Having already paid this price, she was determined to see it through to the end, which meant claiming Nicholas's life. For Imu, Joyboy was her archenemy. With the new Joyboy soon to emerge, she had no time to play with Nicholas, an anomaly outside fate. To prepare for the battle against Joyboy, she couldn't afford to waste time on Nicholas.
Seeing Imu unmoved, Nicholas accelerated again. Fortunately, with the Goro Goro no Mi (Rumble-Rumble Fruit), his escape speed was among the best in the world of pirates. If Im were chasing Roger instead, Nicholas might already be offering incense for his fallen comrade.
New World.
A large ship was sailing through the stormy seas.
"What!? Captain, you said we're heading to Elbaf!?" A red-nosed boy exclaimed in disbelief, almost popping his eyes out as he looked at the man standing at the bow.
"That's right, Buggy! We're heading to the Giant Kingdom of Elbaf! Surprised? Excited?" Gaban laughed, slinging an arm around Buggy's neck. He knew all about Buggy's courage.
Thinking about the terrifying strength of the giants and the savagery of the Elbaf giants, Buggy's face stiffened.
"Don't worry, Buggy. I'll protect you," Shanks said confidently, standing beside Buggy. Shanks's strength had been advancing by leaps and bounds, and he could easily defeat the giants, who were formidable to ordinary people.
"Damn it, Shanks! Don't underestimate me! I'm strong! I'll cut off the Giant King's beard as a trophy!" Buggy couldn't stand Shanks offering to protect him and forgot his fear of giants in his outrage.
Seeing Buggy so agitated, Shanks waved his hand. "Alright, alright, Buggy."
"No way! Shanks, your disbelief is written all over your face!" Buggy grabbed Shanks's collar and shouted to the fishman Sunbell steering the ship, "Uncle Sunbell, speed up to Elbaf! I need to prove to Shanks that I'm strong!"
At that moment, a familiar voice echoed. Buggy stiffly turned his head and saw Vice-Captain Rayleigh smiling at him and Shanks, tossing an audio dial up and down, with Buggy's voice coming from it.
"Uncle Rayleigh, what are you doing?" Buggy asked with an awkward smile, his eyes fixed on the audio dial in Rayleigh's hand.
"Oh, I just thought Jarul should hear what you said. The giants are very particular about their beards," Rayleigh replied.
Hearing this, and imagining the fierce faces of the giants, Buggy felt dizzy, his legs turning to jelly.
"Alright, Rayleigh, stop teasing them. We're about to enter Elbaf's waters. Stay alert; those Sea Kings love attacking large ships like ours," Roger said, turning to Rayleigh. Clearly, his earlier unease felt like a warning to him.
"The land of giants... I wonder how it's different from human kingdoms," Shanks said, his eyes full of anticipation. "What will it look like? The strongest nation in the world!"
"If it's the strongest nation, then why are they confined to Elbaf and can't appear in human territories?" Buggy asked, puzzled. He couldn't understand why the world's strongest nation was limited to just one island.
"That's because there's a power even they can't resist, keeping them confined to this island," Roger said, looking towards Elbaf. Having visited before, he knew it was undoubtedly the strongest nation, with the Giant King's power rivaling the emperors of the sea, not to mention the terrifying strength of adult giants.
A day later, a massive island appeared before Roger and his crew.
"No matter how many times I see it, it's always astonishing!" Rayleigh said, standing beside Roger, marveling at the gigantic island with its enormous trees and landscape magnified hundreds of times compared to other places.
Buggy stared wide-eyed at the giants hunting by the coast and the towering trees around them. Each giant was at least twenty meters tall, a massive presence to ordinary people. But even these giants seemed normal against the backdrop of those enormous trees.
"Ha ha, hello there! Is Jarul home?" Roger called out with a laugh as their ship docked.
…
"What is the government thinking!?" In the Marine Headquarters, the Fleet Admiral's office, Sengoku slammed his fist on the desk, nearly shouting. "To question an Admiral for the sake of the Shichibukai system? How ridiculous!"
He wanted to scream that the brains of the Five Elders were filled with crap, but held back, seeing the World Government official standing before him.
"Sengoku, watch your attitude!" the official reprimanded, frowning at Sengoku's reaction.
"Attitude my ass! Who do you think you are? I'm the Fleet Admiral appointed by the World Government itself. In terms of rank, you're nothing to me. Who are you to teach me how to do my job? Do you think your superiors would dare speak to me like this?" Sengoku shot back at the official.
"Alright, I got the message. Now get out!" Sengoku ordered, dismissing the official.
Faced with Sengoku's attitude, the World Government official had nothing more to say. In terms of administrative rank, Sengoku undoubtedly outranked him.
After the officials left, Sengoku sighed deeply. "Looks like I'll need to have a serious talk with the Five Elders."
He needed to take action. The world was becoming increasingly chaotic, and he couldn't allow the Marines to fall into disarray at such a critical time.
