Chapter 75: Kaido Sets Off After Receiving The News
The phone bug rang in front of Doflamingo at the Dressrosa Palace. He had been waiting there for ten hours since the early morning, leading to faint dark circles forming under his eyes. He was determined to complete Kaido's task perfectly so that he could be the first to hear any news about the Straw Hat Crew. This level of dedication caused his family members to worry that their young master was too subservient to Kaido, losing his Haki and the aura of a king. However, Doflamingo paid no mind to what they thought. Though he considered them his family, he saw them as short-sighted, weak-willed, and ordinary when it came to talent. He believed he needed to remain obedient and controllable in front of Kaido to gain his favor. Then, the aspirations like acquiring the One Piece or even challenging the Five Elders could be within reach.
The phone clicked as it connected. Doflamingo's spirit lifted, he sat up straight, and looking seriously at the phone worm, he spoke, "Speak!"
"Yes! Young master!" The person on the other end was taken aback by Doflamingo's sharp tone but quickly conveyed the message. "The real Straw Hat Luffy has appeared! He's currently being hunted by the Marines and pacifists! Our informants at the harbor have also seen his crew members arriving one by one! Shichibukai Bartholomew Kuma, who was monitoring their ship days ago, has left following the arrival of the opposing crew!"
"The moment has finally arrived! Oh hey~" Doflamingo, excited and joyful, covered his face, his forehead and the veins on the back of his hands bulging. "The show has begun! 17."
"Uh? Young master?"
"Go, evacuate all of Don Quixote's personnel from Sabaody except for those at the auction!"
"But... what about our business on the island?"
"Forget it, we're abandoning it!"
"...Yes!"
The line went dead as the other party rushed to follow Doflamingo's directions, wondering how they could just give up a business worth billions each year. They set about busily evacuating Don Quixote's staff, as instructed.
After hanging up the phone, Doflamingo laughed uncontrollably, sensing that this situation was extraordinary. He didn't want an overwhelming number of casualties among those affiliated with Straw Hat Luffy, including Pirates, Marines, Shichibukai, and the Revolutionary Army. Considering Luffy's connection with Ace and the Whitebeard Pirates, many would not want him to die so easily, especially after the news of the Mera-Mera Fruit auction spread. Doflamingo knew that many prominent individuals were converging on Sabaody to attend the auction.
Trying to contain his excitement, Doflamingo promptly made his way to Kaido to report the news immediately. He couldn't afford any delay, as it could mean facing Kaido's wrath instead of the straw hat. Upon finding Kaido, who was enjoying Dressrosa's signature wine alongside King Neptune, Doflamingo approached and bowed slightly.
"Governor Kaido, the Straw Hat Kid has appeared on Sabaody Archipelago. With Rayleigh, they will likely board soon."
"However, as long as the Mera-mera Fruit is in our hands, he will definitely not leave," sighed Doflamingo.
Kaido seemed not to hear him. He simply set down the oversized wine bottle, stared at the empty glass in his hand, and praised, "The wine you make here is really good, Joker."
Doflamingo was taken aback, unsure of Kaido's thoughts, and could only respond with a smile, "If you like it, I'll increase production at all costs."
Kaido looked up with a grin and then said, "Then save this wine and we'll drink it when I'm done to celebrate my return!"
"Of course, no problem, it is my great honor to fulfill your request," Doflamingo flattered.
"How's it going over there?" Kaido asked with indifference.
"The newspaper was fully booked the moment it was released."
"Of course, after all, this is the fruit of Logia, the ability of Whitebeard's second team captain, far more famous and valuable than other abilities," came the reply, tinged with frustration, "But then, the people who came to reserve a spot forced me to remove some unknown guys to make room."
"This thing is more attractive than I thought," said Doflamingo truthfully.
"I want you to pay attention to certain people," Kaido instructed, glancing at him.
"They haven't shown up, but I guess they've gone to the island too, and hiding their identities is their strong suit," Doflamingo continued.
Neptune, next to the two, was still dazed but silent. Judging from the serious expressions on Doflamingo and Kaido's faces, he could tell it was a serious matter. As an outsider, he thought it best not to draw attention to himself.
Kaido then stood up and looked at Yamato and Shirahoshi, who were chatting happily in the distance. One had lost most of their memories, and the other had lost theirs in a hardshell tower. Feeling a mutual understanding, their friendship had grown quickly. Yamato's adventures at sea, following Kaido to beautiful and magical islands, captivated Shirahoshi's big, sapphire-like eyes, and she longed to be there herself.
As the two lovely women laughed and chatted, Kaido called out, "Yamato, it's time to get down to business."
Yamato's eyes sparkled, fearing her story was almost over. Now there was a new island to visit, and she couldn't wait. She walked up to Kaido with a sunny smile and said, "Daddy, I'm ready! It's not easy to finally be able to help you."
"I will give you more opportunities in the future," Kaido replied affectionately.
Then, a transformation occurred, and in an instant, Kaido became a huge black dragon, crouching in front of himself and Yamato.
Shirahoshi looked on with longing, thinking how wonderful it would be to ride a dragon and see islands across the world. She felt frustrated by her weakness and timidity but resolved to be stronger next time so she could join Kaido on his adventures. Recalling her father Neptune's words about her power of Poseidon, Shirahoshi quietly wondered whether mastering that power would be enough.
