Chapter 43: A Secret Lab

Ben tapped on the section of the wall again. "How do we open this?" Ben questioned.

"Maybe the card has something to do with this?" Kaya replied.

Ben took the card from his pocket and swiped near the wall.

"Beep." A sound was heard. The wall next to the section of the wall which Ben was there opened. A white lift door could be seen. The doors opened. The body of the lift was made of steel or aluminum, and it was painted a pristine white.

Ben and the girls walked inside the lift. It smelled fresh and not old or dirty. The panel inside the lift had two buttons. One of them was "G" and the other was "D." "You know which button, I want to press my love," Alvida teased.

"Pervert," Kaya said.

"Should we trust going inside this?" Belo Betty asked.

"It could be dangerous, Captain." Kaya said with concern in her voice.

"Let's see where this goes. We are strong enough for any threats," Ben said. He pressed the "D" button. The lift slowly moved downwards. It then stopped after about two minutes and the door opened.

They saw a lab. The lab was abandoned, but it looked like it had been closed down just yesterday. The equipment was still set up, and the tables were still covered in papers. The only sign that anyone had been there in a long time was the thick layer of dust that covered everything. In the center of the lab was a large table, on which was a variety of scientific equipment.

Ben walked towards the computer. It had the same loading screen as the computer at the lab at Clockwork Island. He thought that one of his quests had satellite blueprints as a reward, maybe this has something to do with it.

"What is this?" Kaya asked.

"It looks like an abandoned lab but what is it doing here in the middle of nowhere? Clockwork island had a population but this is just here," Alvida replied.

They walked around the lab and saw another room to the right. Ben walked into the room. This was a viewing platform. His jaw dropped. They were inside a cave, the walls were made of smooth, gray rock.

In the cave there was a giant mech with scaffolding around it. The mech was enormous, standing over 200 feet tall. It was a massive, humanoid machine. The head of the mech is a large, dome-shaped structure. It had a body, two long arms and legs.

Alvida, Belo Betty entered the room and saw the mech out the window.

"What is that monster?" Belo Betty said.

"It's a mech, a giant robot, capable of war and able to be controlled." Ben replied.

"Who could create such a thing, Vegapunk?" Belo Betty said in confusion and added, "His technology is meant to be years ahead of our time."

"The World Government`s scientist, it is not him. This goes further and older," Ben said.

"Belo Betty, remember as your Captain. You must not disclose this to anyone, even your leader Dragon. I have an alliance with his son," Ben added.

Bel Betty thought, this is frustrating. This weapon could be useful in our fight and Lindbergh maybe able to do something more but. "What did you say son?" Belo Betty asked in confusion.

"Yeah Monkey D Luffy who formed the Strawhat Pirates. We have an alliance," Ben casually dropped.

Interesting so Dragon's son is also against the World Government. If he is with us then maybe I can get Ben to join us as well, Belo Betty thought. She smiled. "Okay I won't tell anyone," Belo Betty said.

At this moment, Kaya came into the room and saw the giant mech. "What is the big thing there?" she said in shock.

"There is more than one," Alvida pointed out.

They looked out to the windows and saw four others at various forms of development. The second one was missing its arms. The third one had no heads. The fourth one only had its frame while the fifth one only had its skeleton from. They could see large robotic hands and welders on some of the mechs.

"They look like those arms can be controlled to complete the mechs. I think I know a person who can help out," said Ben.

"Who?" Belo Betty questioned. She thought if Ben didn't know the person she could offer her scientist.

"A brilliant scientist who I met on my journey," Ben replied.

"This lab is very advanced," Kaya said.

"Yes, who knows what else is here and what the computers have like at Clockwork Island my love," Alvida said to Ben.

"That 's why we are going to call her here and see if she can find more about this facility. She has already been familiar with a similar software, I think," Ben said.

"Sounds like a plan my love," Alvida said.

"Okay girls. I think we have seen a lot here. We need to get to Cocoyasi Village," Ben said.

The girls nodded. Even though it was exciting here, they had to carry on and save Cocoyasi Village.
