18. Devil Fruit Training

Darren woke up at sunrise as he stretched and ate some fruits, picking up his mask he put it on as he travelled to the end of the little island.

Arriving at the shore, Darren got straight to work, closing his eyes, Darren's mind sparked again with an idea.

Extending his arms out towards the sea, he activated his devil fruit powers as frost spread across the surface forming a solid layer over the sea.

Drawing upon his imagination, Darren visualised a series of interconnected ice mirrors, as he continued the snow turned into solid ice mirrors in half the time he needed to create them out of thin air.

Looking at the mirrors, Darren stepped forward, he reached out and his hand passed through the surface of one mirror, only to emerge from another, seemingly teleporting to a different location.

"It actually worked!!" Darren laughed as this would enable him to make riskier moves in the future.

As excitement coursed through him, Darren tested the abilities of the new technique. He placed mirrors in different places and manipulated their angles, this would definitely confuse his opponents he thought.

As he continued to play around with the ice mirrors, his mastery over them grew. He experimented different battle tactics along with throwing snow blocks inside to see if they would get trapped.

And indeed they would, he also shot attacks at the mirrors and to his pleasant surprise, they reflected and also redirected his attacks.

"Let's me see if I can use two of my ultimates along with these ice mirrors, effectively combining them".

Darren the locked his middle finger and index finger in his left, his right hand did the one hand Buddha tricycle.

"Eternal Blizzard".

"True Glacier Way".

As both his ultimates formed and terrible winds exploded, he directed them into his ice mirrors, however he saw cracks starting to form on them.

"It seems that using the full power of both my ultimates puts a toll on the ice mirrors"

It looked like the Ice mirror could fully support the full power of one of his ultimates, but two was not possible.

Darren without delay shot his ultimates out of the ice mirrors as they both accelerated towards the sea.

Along the way the Hand of snow slowly combined with his Eternal blizzard as a big explosion occurred.

*BOOOOOM*

Heavy winds blasted towards Darren as he lost his balance, "oh shit!", after a few minutes he looked into the distance, seeing ice and snow everywhere along with the climate change due to the explosion Darren realised he created a bit of a mistake.

Although an island hadn't formed due to the hand breaking the solid ice the was formed from the explosion, there were still some parts of the sea that were frozen and it was a pretty big area.

Darren realised that his two ultimates had combined and he knew that if he used this attack, it'd be deadly.

Looking at his cracked ice mirrors, Darren had another thought.

'What if instead of using my ultimates after the ice mirrors appear, why don't I see if it can hold them'.

He then created a new set of ice mirrors as he used his ultimate, the Eternal Blizzard and sent it once again inside the Ice mirrors.

He waited a few seconds without anything happening, "good! It can actually trap my ultimate that opens up a whole new world of attacks".

Darren had this idea come to him after realising it could trap things, to further test it he made the ice mirror's disappear.

Then after a while he remade them, an to his surprise his ultimate was still trapped in there.

"This is game changing" Darren said holding his mouth as he looked at the Ice mirror's, "after I strengthen my Ice Mirror's, it'll be able to hold my other two ultimates".

"And without even needing to uses them myself, they can come out of the ice mirror's and attack my enemies!, and I can also attack along with them!".

Darren had wanted to see if it would drain his powers, but when the ice mirrors disappeared, the draining would stop, it was only when they were released that the energy draining would begin.

With that out of the way Darren continued to utilise and bring out other attacks.

He then lifted up his right hand focusing on it, going as low as he could his hand Frosted as cold air escaped it, he then punch the sea below as it froze the area of impact.

"I'll also call this Frostbite Strike, this has the capabilities of immobilising my opponents with just a punch".

Darren then stuck his hand out, snow hardened into spears formed in the 100s, waving his hand down, he sent them piercing the through the sea "this is a wide range attack, it'll be really useful soon".

"I'll call this Snow Rain".

After training for hours, Darren sat down on the shore as he ate the cooked deer he brought, watching the sea move and the birds chirping Darren had a tranquil mind.

He watched as the birds flew freely in the sky and the occasional sea monsters that came up to see the new ice/snow that formed.

Finishing up, he got up and before he decided to leave, he looked at the log he was sitting on.

"Hmm, the log froze over".

"It seems like without even knowing, I subconsciously released ice to the surroundings".

Then another idea popped into his brain. Without wasting time, he stood in place as he felt his aura.

Intensifying his control over the devil fruit, Darren created a frigid aura around him, opening his eyes he looked at the surrounding area.

The sand froze and the temperature dropped by a few degrees, the crabs and animals on the shore felt the movements slow down and some of them could barely move.

Darren witnessing this knew how affective it'd become so he named it "Absolute Zero Aura".

He wouldn't output it this much as it'd be inconvenient for him and his friends, but he'd have it surround him enough to where if he was attacked and they entered the vicinity of the aura, the attacker would have his move slowed down allowing Darren to react even more effectively.

He had more ideas, but seeing the sun setting, Darren decided it was enough for today.

"I've created more ways to use my fruit which has allowed me to have more moves in my arsenal".

Going back to the camp, Darren saw Evan training the Void Strike and The Blade Dance, he commended his pursuit for improvement.

"Yo Evan, you're still training, but it's good to take a breather sometimes, come let's eat some rabbits I caught along the way".

"Ok Darren!" Evan smiled as he got out of his training mode and sat down having a nice chat with Darren.

"Darren tomorrow you're boat should be ready right?".

"Yeah, if you want you can come along with me to go get it".

"Yeah that's no problem, as you said I'll treat it as my little break since I trained nonstop for the last week".

"Ok the plan for tomorrow is set then", they then continued to chat, Evan even explained what the revolutionary army were up to before he came across Darren.

Darren listened on as this would be some information he could use to asses the current revolutionary army.

"Hmm, their pretty decent".
