The Recruitement

Knight International

Oliver was about to go for the recruitment interview to check how things were progressing but suddenly he received a call from Ava. Oliver was surprised because he knew today Ava was going to see outpatients and whenever she does, she becomes so busy that she hardly could talk to him. So Oliver wondered how did she found time today to call him. With a broad smile, Oliver picked up the call, "Hey, baby!"

"Oliver, are you busy?" Ava was sitting in her office and rubbing her temple. She was feeling very tired.

"For you, I am always free baby, What's up?" Oliver smiled.

At this moment Uncle Joe came to call Oliver. "CEO Knight, are you ready to go to the recruitment center to see the progress?"

Normally every year Oliver would pay a visit to the recruitment center but since Ava called him he didn't want to go. His presence was not required there, he just did it to encourage the newcomers.

Oliver covered his phone with his hand and whispered, "Later, you go ahead."

Uncle Joe shook his head thinking where was there cold CEO? This Oliver looked like a man who was head over heels in love with his beloved.

Although Oliver covered his mouthpiece but Ava clearly heard the conversation between him and Uncle Joe. She frowned and asked, "Oliver, do you have something important to do? If you do then hurry back to work."

"It's nothing important, I asked Uncle Joe to handle it."

"It won't affect your work?" Ava still asked uncertainly.

"No, my sweet sweet Ava it won't. Now tell me what made you call me at this hour today?"

"Actually, I called you to let you know that my mother called today and she asked me to go home so I will be going home after work today and you don't have to come to pick me up. I'll stay there for a couple of days, OK?" Ava said nervously, she was not good at lying. Fortunately, Oliver was not in front of her otherwise he would definitely catch her lies.

Oliver heard Ava, he fell silent for a moment then said softly, "OK." He didn't like to live without Ava. Their life was like a married couple and he was so used to Ava being around that staying away from her would be difficult for him, even if it was only for a couple of days only.

"I'll pick you up whenever you want to come back," Oliver said lightly.

Suddenly, he was feeling like they were newlyweds and his wife wanted to go back to her parent's place but as a husband, he was reluctant to let her go.

Ava wanted to talk to Oliver some more but for some reason, she found herself distracted, probably she was still bothered by what Liam had said in the morning so She said lightly, "Oliver, a patient is waiting for me, I'll talk to you later."

"Mmm...OK, bye."

After hanging up the phone, Oliver was in a bad mood. He won't be able to see Ava for the next two days and his heart was already feeling lost. So he didn't attend the recruitment interview at all.

In the interview room, when Uncle Joe went to check, Melody's interview was already over, but Melody's performance, education, and appearance were all outstanding, so the HR manager decided to hire her.

In the evening,

Now that it was autumn, the wind was very cold, especially at night. Ava was walking on the sunset street with Lilly holding her arm. It was one of the busiest commercial streets in the whole city. She went home after work and after dinner, Ava asked her mother to accompany her to sunset street to buy some and weaving materials.

The night was getting darker but the whole city was bright with the neon lights. Ava was holding a paper bag in one hand as the mother and daughter walked forward side by side. Lilly has been peeking glances at Ava for a while but Ava was walking quietly. Since she was not talking, Lilly decided to ask her how she was doing. She was always worried that Ava will be wronged by Oliver. Although, she knew with Oliver, her daughter will be able to live a good life but she still didn't want her to be with Oliver. The gap between their status always bugs her.

"Ava, how did you suddenly think of coming home?" Lilly asked softly.

"Mom, actually, Oliver's birthday is in two days and I wanted to buy something for him but I couldn't find anything that was suitable for him so I decided to weave a scarf for him since the winter was coming it will be helpful. I completely forgot how to weave and was hoping you could help me with it." Ava said with a smile. She knew her mother was worried about her but no matter how many times she told her that she was happy with Oliver and she didn't need to worry, Lilly wouldn't listen, so Ava gave up.

"Silly girl, I didn't see you so attentive when you were with Jacob." Lilly turned her head and looked at Ava a little surprised. In this fast-paced age, who would bother to weave a scarf for someone. Normally it takes two to three days to weave a scarf and someone can easily buy one from the market as it's very cheap so no one really bothers to weave these days.

"Maybe with different people the feelings are also different," Ava said lightly with a smile.

"Ava..." Lilly suddenly stopped on her track and looked at Ava then said sincerely, "If you ever suffer any grievances, you must always remember that your parents are still here for you, ok! Don't try to be brave and bear everything alone. I know I have been very strict with you all the time but that's only because I wanted you to grow up as an excellent woman. Now I'm happy to see my daughter become so outstanding every day."

"Mom, I know. Thank you." Ava suddenly hugged her mother tightly.

"You must learn to protect yourself, you know?"

Ava nodded hard. Her nose turned sour, she said in a choking voice, "Mom, don't worry. Oliver is very good to me, he has been protecting me very well."
