The opening ceremony

Oliver almost dragged Ava toward the auditorium and all the way, Ava's thoughts were a little complicated. How could Oliver do this? He even called Daniel a bastard. Ava felt very bad for Daniel, his life was already so pathetic why Oliver had to treat him like this?

"Oliver, why do you always have to use mean words to hurt people?" Oliver was walking very fast, Ava almost had to run to keep up with him. She couldn't do that so she pulled her hand back and said to Oliver angrily.

"Oh! is it? Or you are just angry because I treated your dear Daniel badly?" Oliver gave Ava a sarcastic smile and said coldly.

Ava stared at him but didn't say anything. She was really mad at him.

"What? You are feeling that bad for the bastard? Oliver kept smiling but it was terrible making one feel chill to the bone.

"Will you stop calling him that? Who wants to be an illegitimate child? It's not like he had a choice. Daniel's life is already pitiful enough, on top of that his mother had died unexpectedly. Why do you have to talk to him like that?" Ava clenched her fist, she was now trembling in anger. She wouldn't allow anyone to insult her piano teacher like that, not even Oliver.

Oliver's cold eyes were staring at the angry woman in front of him. He was too calm, it's the kind of calm before the storm, which makes people shiver in fear.

"If you care about him so much then why don't you go back to him?" Oliver said coldly with an indifferent face.

Ava couldn't stand Oliver's arrogant attitude anymore, she didn't know what got into her she just turned and left. She was really tired of Oliver's mood swings, one second he was all sunshine, and the next second, dark clouds. Ava was walking down the cobbled path behind the teaching building, the osmanthus garden was at the end of it. She looked around but couldn't see Daniel there, so she decided to go into the garden to have a look. However, suddenly two strong hands came from behind and scooped Ava into the arm, and started to walk toward the auditorium.

"Ava, if you don't want Daniel to die, just leave him alone. You know me." Oliver said lightly in a low voice but his anger was apparent.

How dare this woman turn and leave to find that bastard? She was so headstrong, Oliver really wanted to punish her right now. Looks like he has spoiled her too much these days but he knew how to calm her down.

Ava was in a daze for a while held by Oliver like that and didn't say a single word to him. When they reached the auditorium, Oliver put Ava down and said with an evil smile, "Now put that beautiful smile of yours and let the world see it."

Ava clenched her teeth in anger but hearing Oliver's commanding tone, she gave him a bright smile and said through gritted teeth, "Yes, CEO Knight."

Oliver knew she was mad but he didn't say anything he just smiled took her hand and walked inside the auditorium dominatingly.

The auditorium was almost full with the guests. Liam, Arvin, Erika, Kiara, and Jessica all were present there but they were seated in the back row. As Oliver was the guest of honor, his and Ava's seat was at the first row beside the school principal.

The moment Ava and Oliver entered the auditorium holding hands, all the people in the auditorium started to boil in excitement. Obviously, Oliver's present was livelier than a superstar's. All the eyes were on them.

Ava didn't know they would enter in a such high profile way, she was so embarrassed that she immediately lowered her head. Ava cursed herself in her mind for coming here today. She was already famous because of her and Jacob's relationship and now the whole school will know she was with Oliver and she will become even more famous.

"God, Mr. Knight is so handsome."

"Is this girl his girlfriend? Wow, they look cute together. "

"What are you talking about, that woman is too plain, doesn't suit our CEO Knight at all."

"I think she looks pure and innocent. She seems to have a very good figure. Do you think she tamed CEO Knight with that figure of her?"

"I don't believe Mr. Knight will marry her. She's not any celebrity after all."

The auditorium was bustling with different kinds of opinions and whispers. Ava speechlessly heard the comments. Fortunately, the opening ceremony started immediately after she and Oliver took their seats.

The curtain opened and two figures came onto the stage with a smiley face. One was Sarah who was wearing a pink princess skirt and the other was a handsome young man in a black suit, who was Daniel's younger brother, Ben. They both were looking beautiful together. Many people from the back seat started to compliment the pair.

"Dear honorable guests, leaders, and students welcome to the 50th anniversary of Beijing No. 4 High School." Sarah's sweet voice echoed through the whole auditorium and the audience became silent.

"Today, we gathered here to celebrate this special day with all the former and present students of the school. For 50 years, we have been in the same boat through thick and thin. I hope that we can look forward to a better future together." Ben took the microphone and said with a smile. He was very confident at the stage and kept talking about many things.

After the introduction, Ben and Sarah invited the principal to the stage to give the opening speech, which took a while as he was reading through the full three pages of his draft. After he was done the vice president, the director of the teaching department and the teacher's representative came onto the stage one by one to give their speeches. Finally, several outstanding graduates were invited onto the stage to say a few words about their experiences at the school. It took about an hour to finish all the speeches. The audience patiently listened and when they were done they gave thunderous applause.

The cultural program began with cheerleading. A bunch of young girls started to jump up and down on the stage which attracted many male guest's attention.

Ava took a quick look at Oliver and saw he was staring at the stage indifferently but it looked like he was in pain.

Oliver noticed that he turned and asked, "Why are you looking at me like that? Don't worry, I'm not a pervert like those men. I am not interested in kids."

"Yeah keep bragging. But you are the guest of honor, why you were not invited to the stage to give a speech?" Ava asked lightly, pretending to be indifferent.

"Because I didn't want to give any speech. It's such a waste of my time and energy." Oliver said indifferently.

Actually, He was invited to give the opening speech but he refused and said he will just attend the ceremony. In fact, it was his idea to invite the scholarly student on the stage to say some words.

"You are so overbearing!" Ava said with a disdainful face.

Ava and Oliver didn't pay much attention to the rest of the program. It went in a daze, they kept chatting among themselves. Around twelve o'clock the program announced the closing ceremony and both Oliver and Ava were relieved.
