Standing between them

Oliver's Villa.

Ava insisted on bringing Orion back home. She was away from him for far too long, she didn't want to stay away from her son even for a second now. Although Oliver wanted to have some lonely time with his wife first, but he was helpless in front of his wife's pleading. In the end, the three of them came back home and since it was already bedtime, Ava took Orion to give him a bath. Although Oliver didn't get alone time with Ava but he was still over the moon, he lay there on the bed staring at the bathroom door and smiling unknowingly at the sound of the splashing water and laughter of the mother and son. His heart was content at the moment as if he didn't need anything else in the world.

Oliver suddenly heard Ava's phone ringing, he picked it up to check who was calling and saw someone named "James (Danny's assistant)" on the screen. Instantly his good mood was ruined. Why was Daniel's assistant calling Ava at this hour? Oliver narrowed his eyes and rejected the call decisively then turned off her phone. Since she divorced Daniel, there was no need to have any contact with him or his assistant.

Ava came out of the bedroom holding the naughty boy wrapped in a towel who got her completely wet. She started to wipe him and help him put on his night suit afraid he will catch a cold. The whole time her full concentration was on the little boy. unbeknownst to her, another full-grown child was looking at her and Orion with a jealous look in his eyes.

Oliver felt abandoned by Ava's so much attention toward their son. The moment she came back from the bathroom Oliver has been staring at her with an open mouth. Ava was completely soaked in water which made her already fitted dress to stuck with her body making her body shape fully visible to him. Oliver traced his eyes from Ava's head to feet and suddenly felt his throat and mouth very dry, he looked at her eyes full of lust but she didn't even spare a glance at him as if he wasn't even there which made him feel upset and jealous. He was wondering if he made a mistake by telling her about Orion this soon. Maybe he should have spent some time with her alone and then tell her about their son.

After Ava helped Orion put on his clothes, she looked at herself and finally realized her clothes were all wet because Orion was splashing water on her. Ava quickly went to the closet and got a set of pajamas and a towel. She needed to get a shower, however, the moment she opened the bathroom door Oliver came from behind and held her.

Ava was embarrassed, "Oliver what are you doing? Orion is still here, let go of me."

Oliver paused and thought he definitely made a mistake by letting Ava bring Orion back tonight. He hadn't been with his wife for more than three years, seeing her like this how he was going to control his desire for her? He wanted her right here and right now but looks like his own son became an obstacle between him and his wife. Oliver gave her a sly look and said in a low and sexy voice, "I need to take a shower too. How about we do it together?"

Ava's eyes widen in realization about what he was trying to indicate, her heartbeat picked up as she tried to push him away. "Oliver stop messing around. Please put Orion to bed, it's already passed his bedtime. He won't be able to wake up early to go to school tomorrow."

Oliver understood her dilemma he smiled and said lightly, "Orion is a big boy, he doesn't need me to coax him to sleep, do you, Orion?" Oliver looked at Orion for him to say no so that he could take Ava to the bathroom.

However, Orion looked at his father and said with disdain, "Dad, there are so many bathrooms at home. Why do you need to take a shower with mom?"

Ava chuckled pushed Oliver away and quickly went to the bathroom and locked the door.

Oliver stood there speechlessly, it was official, he was the dumbest person in the world. Why did he bring his son back home tonight? This little traitor seems to change sides the moment he found his mom. When he thought he got Ava back and there was nobody who could come between them, his own son seems to stand between them. Oliver felt bitter. The sudden click sound brought him back and he turned his head to see that the cunning woman has already locked the bathroom door. He sighed and went to the bed, he needs to find a solution to this problem.

Oliver looked at his son who was lying there with an innocent face and said without any expression on his face, "Orion, your grandparents were asking me to send you to them for a few days, they said they are missing you very much."

Orion looked at Oliver and pouted. "But I don't want to go, I want to be with mom. Can mom come with me too?" Orion asked excitedly.

"No! Mom can't come with you, she has to stay home with dad."

"Then I won't go either." Orion refused decisively without even thinking.

"Why? Didn't you like to spend time with your grandparents before? "

"That was before mom came back, now that I have mom to spend time with why would I want to go to my grandparents?" Orion asked innocently.

Oliver was speechless, this stingy brat! But he knew how to handle him, he said with a cunning smile. "Well, if you don't want to go to your grandparents then I'll send you to your class teacher Miss Yu. She is taking a special class for naughty children like you who don't like to listen to their parents."

Orion immediately become scared to hear that, he said with watery eyes, "Dad, I don't want to go there!"

"So will you go to your grandparents?" Oliver asked with a straight face.

Orion rolled his lips and said dejectedly, "OK! But for how many days? "

"A month," Oliver said resolutely.

Orion's eyes watered again as he looked at Oliver with his big eyes and said in a blaming tone, "Dad, you love me anymore!"

"What are you talking about, of course, I love you. Dad will come and see you every day ok, and I will also bring mom with me." Oliver coaxed the child.

"But I just met mom I don't want to stay away from her for that long. Dad, please don't make little Orion stay at Granma's that long." Orion said pleadingly.

Oliver sighed, his heart soften but he still said in a cold tone, "Fine, but you will have to stay there at least for a week, no less than that, ok!"

"OK! "Orion smiled happily and kissed Oliver on the cheek then went to the bed.

Oliver shook his head helplessly then handed him his milk glass. After Orion finished his milk, Oliver tucked him in and went to the guest room to take a shower.

Ava came out of the bathroom trying to make no noise at all. She looked around and didn't see Oliver anywhere, she let out a sigh of relief and went to the bed. Orion was sleeping peacefully, looking at his innocent face, Ava's eyes watered. She lay down on the side and held Orion close to her, she still couldn't believe her son was alive and well, she didn't know how to thank God for this happiness. Oliver gave her the most precious gift and she wanted to cherish it. Suddenly Ava had the hope that she, Oliver, and Orion will have a happy life in the future. With that thought, she closed her eyes and fall asleep peacefully.

Oliver came out of the guest room and saw the most beautiful scene, Ava and Orion both were sleeping holding each other. A smile showed up on his cold face, he went to the bed and lay down beside Ava, and spooned her tightly. For the first time in 3 years, Oliver's mind was at peace. He kissed the back of her hair and said in a low voice, 'Good night, my love'. Oliver closed his eyes and slept peacefully.
