Familiar voice

The City Hospital

Ava came out of the OT after one of the most complicated heart surgery she had performed. This was the 3rd surgery that she performed by herself but this one was not the kind she should perform without an experienced surgeon by her side. In fact, director brown was supposed to be the surgeon for this surgery but for some other important surgery, he couldn't attend it. So the Dean had no other choice but to put someone capable of this surgery. He called Ava last minute and asked her to prepare for this surgery, he was confident she would be able to do it based on her last few performances. Ava was happy but also very stressed, she has confidence in herself but surgery could go wrong at any point. Fortunately, the surgery was successful.

Ava walked toward the changing room to change her clothes when Susan came from behind and said, "Congratulations, Dr. Green! The surgery was successful again."

Susan was the head nurse, she was in her early 40s with a kind and soft nature. However, she was very experienced and good at her job. Everyone like her for her good nature and friendly personality. She had a very good relationship with Ava.

Ava smiled and said lightly, "Thank you, Susan. But I can't take all the credit here, the whole team including you did a good job there.

"Dr. Green, you are really talented among all the young doctors at the hospital. It has only been six months since you joined but you already proved yourself as a valuable asset to the hospital. The way you confidently perform surgery and take measures so decisively, It's really amazing. I have been working along with many doctors at the OT, even the most experienced doctors hesitate to make decisions during surgery, but you make it seem like an easy job." There was admiration in Susan's eyes.

"Thank you, Susan, it actually feels great to be able to save a life. so I try my best to do what's good for my patient." Ava said with a humble smile.

"It's good that your residency is almost finished, Do you know what Director Devis said to Director Brown? He said he wants to offer you a permanent position in the cardiology department when you finish your residency next month." Susan said proudly with a smile.

Director Brown was the director of their Interventional Cardiology department. He was very well known and respected in the cardiology department in the whole city. When Ava first joined the hospital he would often make things difficult for her for no reason. It was clear from his attitude that he didn't like her and that's probably why he would often assign her to assist on high-risk and difficult operations. Ava didn't mind though, she has always been up for a challenge. She thought the more difficult the case is, there's more to learn. Besides, it felt very satisfying for her to be able to save a life.

"Well, when I get the offer, I'll treat you and Mia," Ava said in a sweet voice.

Susan and another intern nurse Mia have been helping her since she entered the hospital. Ava really appreciated that, although she was not weak to get bullied by anyone, but sometimes it's difficult to keep a harmonious interpersonal relationship between colleagues.

Susan's eyes lit up and she said with a smile, "I'll hold you onto that then, Dr. Green."

Ava changed her surgical suit and head toward the 24th floor of the inpatient department. Lunchtime was over a while back, she was hungry but for some reason, she didn't feel like eating instead she went to the quiet corner of the inpatient department to think. Whenever she was upset or needed a minute for herself, she would come here, the silence helped her to think clearly.

It's been 2 days since Ava and Lilly moved out of their family home. She has been trying to find a lawyer for her father's case but has yet to find one. It's been four days since James was arrested she was very anxious for her father's wellbeing. She has talked to the officer and they granted her to see her father tomorrow. Ava was excited and terrified at the same time. She didn't know how her father was doing but she would feel at ease if she could see him with her own eyes. On the other hand, as a daughter seeing her father behind the bar for a crime he didn't commit was also difficult for her, she didn't know what she would see, and more importantly, now that the house was gone and she couldn't arrange the money, how she was going to tell her father?

Ava's mind was very unstable at the moment, she was feeling sad, angry, wronged, worried, and frustrated at the same time. For 24 years, her parents treated her like a princess but just in a blink of an eye, her life changed dramatically. The betrayal of her boyfriend shook her severely, she loved Jacob very much but just in one night, all love turned into hate. She felt helpless that she couldn't even help her father when he needed it the most. Ava closed her eyes and leaned against the wall, lost in her own thoughts when suddenly she heard a familiar voice.
