Exposing Mia

Mia was sitting in the nurse's station preparing for her day to start. She saw the door of the elevator open and Ava came out, a smile showed up on her face however the smile dropped as soon as she saw the woman behind Ava. Mia's face instantly turned ghostly white, she had a bad feeling seeing this woman here.

Kiara looked at Mia's panicked face and smiled with satisfaction. She turned her head and followed Ava into her office.

"Kiara, what are you doing in here?" Ava looked at Kiara and asked calmly.

"I have something to tell you." Kiara entered Ava's office and sat down on the chair as if it was her own office. She didn't even care about the doctors and nurses around her.

"Well, you will have to wait until I finish my work then, it's time for me to clock in," Ava said thinking Kiara will leave if she said that.

However, Kiara once again surprised Ava with her shamelessness, when she said she will wait and got comfortable in her seat. Ava didn't waste any more words on her instead she put on her white coat, took the patient's reports and her stethoscope in hand before walking out of the office.

Ava first finished her morning meeting and started her rounds, Mia followed her but she was very anxious in her heart. She knew if Ava finds out what she had done to her, she might never forgive her. At that thought she felt pain in her heart, she shouldn't have trusted Kiara. Maybe that's what she gets to betray her best friend.

After Ava finished her rounds it was around 9.15 am. She didn't have any OT in the morning but at that moment she was very eager to do an operation or attend an emergency case. She really didn't want to talk to Kiara and one part of her wanted Kiara to wait all day and suffer in the office. Ava sighed and slowly walked back into her office.

When Ava entered her office she saw Kiara was sitting very comfortably on the chair and brushing her microblog. Ava looked around and saw Sylvia was there, she didn't want to talk to Kiara in front of Sylvia so she said, "Miss Anderson please come with me."

Kiara stood up and followed Ava towards the stairway.

Mia saw Ava and Kiara came out of the office and was heading toward the stairway, she immediately followed them, she needed to know why Kiara was here.

Ava led Kiara to a secluded corridor and said impatiently, "Yes Miss Anderson, say what you have come to say here."

"Well before I say it to you, I want you to listen to something," Kiara said with a mysterious smile on her face then took out her unique pen that had a recorder in it and was about to play the recording.

Ava rolled her eyes on her dramatic attitude then said, "If it's about Mia then please let me stop you there, I have no desire to listen to your conversations."

Ava was not stupid though Mia's behavior since yesterday she could tell Mia might break her deal with Kiara, and today Kiara's appearance only confirmed her doubts. So she already guessed Kiara must have come here to expose Mia today.

Kiara was stunned for a second before her face turned ugly, she looked at Ava and asked, "You know that?"

"Of course Kiara. You think so highly of yourself if you think you could turn my friend against me just like that." Ava raised her head and said in a domineering voice.

Kiara stared at Ava for a while, her eyes were full of discontent. Damn it! She came here to hurt Ava by telling her about the betrayal of her friend but it turns out she already knew about it long ago. This woman is not as simple as she thought. However Kiara was not ready to give up yet, if she could poison Ava's heart a little with her words then she could stir up trouble between her and Mia and it would still be a success.

"But it's true that your friend did betray you. Didn't she?" Kiara said with a proud smile.

"I am sorry Kiara but I don't see it as a betrayal, besides who are you to judge my friend? Do you think you are qualified? You don't need to tell me what kind of person Mia is, I know her far better than you do." Ava said with a calm smile, and there was no sadness or despair on her beautiful face, which actually made Kiara a bit surprised.

It was beyond Kiara's expectation for Ava to react like that so she could see her plan to create discord between friends have failed miserably. Naturally, she was very unhappy about it.

Mia who was standing at the corner heard the whole conversation between Ava and Kiara. All kind of emotion was surging through her making her cry, she felt ashamed of herself for believing Kara over Ava and after hearing her today she knew how vicious Kiara was. Mia was relieved thinking she had broken the contacts with her but what was making her heartache that Ava already knew about her betrayal, yet she never asked a single question or treated her differently. In fact, just now she was even defending her in front of Kiara, which actually made her feel grateful as well very guilty toward Ava.

"Ava, are you that confident?" Kiara said coldly she was very upset.

"Are you done? Please leave I have work to do." Ava had no desire to continue this conversation with Kiara.

Ava's calm and collective attitude made Kiara even angrier. She stamped her feet turned and left with quick steps.

After Kiara left Ava decided to go back to her work but when she turned the corner she was surprised to see Mia standing there with tears in her eyes. She didn't say anything, she just threw herself into Ava's arm and hugged her tightly.

"Mia, calm down, it's alright. It's over. We will always be best friends." Ava also hugged her back and comforted her. She knew if Mia found out that she already knew everything, she would be embarrassed and feel guilty.

"Ava, thank you for forgiving me, I am really really sorry..." Mia said in her choking voice, tears were still rushing through her eyes.

Ava understood Mia's character well. She was very pure and simple-minded, so it was easy to manipulate her with soft words. If Ava didn't know Kiara's way of poisoning people with her words then she probably wouldn't be able to forgive Mia, but Ava knew it was not Mia's fault. In fact, it was because of her Mia was dragged into this situation, so how could she be angry with her?

"Fool, it's OK. You are the first friend I made in this hospital and I hope our friendship can last forever. Don't blame yourself for what happened, it was not your fault." Ava patted Mia and tried to comfort her.

"Ava, I really don't know what to say." Mia was moved by Ava's kind words and her heart filled with warmth. She made a vow to herself at that moment, that she would never let Ava down again.

"You don't need to say anything. Let's just forget everything and put it behind us." Ava wiped her tears and said with a bright smile.

Sometimes, friendship is simple like that. Everyone makes mistakes but giving a chance to those who wanted to turn back was the best thing one could do.
