Conversation about the baby

Oliver observed Ava's every action, the way she was interacting with the child he could tell she loved children. He thought their son would be really lucky to have a such loving mother.

The little boy put his arms around Ava's neck and said in a sweet voice: "Sister, is this man your boyfriend?"

Ava was speechless, he was just 4 or 5 years old, how could he know the word 'boyfriend'? However before she could reply Oliver said in a cold tone, "No I am not her boyfriend, I am her husband. You little thing, let go of my wife."

As Ava was holding the boy protectively, he became a little brave and made a face at Oliver then he said, "You are a bad uncle, how could this beautiful sister like you?"

Ava was so amused by the child that she couldn't close her mouth, she kept laughing. However, Oliver's face was completely dark, he wished he could throw the boy into the garbage can right now.

Fortunately, the little boy's mother was done at the counter by then and when she looked around she saw her son was with a young couple and he was in the woman's arm. She quickly came to them and said angrily to her son, "Johan, didn't I tell you not to run around like this?"

Ava looked at the woman and said softly, "Mam, your son is really cute, he wasn't running around, he was just talking to us. I hope you don't mind."

"I'm sorry to trouble you. He is actually very naughty."

"No, it's OK," Ava said politely.

"Johan, say goodbye to the uncle and auntie." The woman held the little boy's hand and said with a smile.

"Goodbye beautiful sister, Goodbye uncle." Until he left, he addressed Ava as sister and Oliver as Uncle.

Oliver hugged Ava and walked to the counter. He asked unhappily, "Why did that little thing call me uncle? Do I look that old?"

Ava chuckled and thought how childish he was to be worried about what that little boy called him.

"Mr. Knight, aren't you afraid of becoming a joke that you are asking that question? He was just a child." Ava said and shook her head helplessly, her face was full of smiles.

"If he calls you sister then, it's only fair he will call me brother, isn't it?"

"Hello, what can I get for you?" The server asked warmly at the counter.

"A family bucket please," Ava said quickly.

"It will be ready in 5 minutes. Please wait."

Oliver paid the money and took Ava toward an empty seat. Ava looked at Oliver and smiled then she suddenly asked, "Oliver, don't you like children?"

"I don't like other people's children, but if you give birth to me, I will love that child." Oliver looked at Ava and said quietly with a ruffian smile.

It's a perfect answer and Oliver's meaning was obvious. He wanted to get her pregnant since they moved in together and now that he was madly in love with her he wanted it even more.

"Why don't you like other people's children? I think children are so cute just like the little boy we met now. I love them." Ava shrugged.

"Where was he cute? He was so annoying and ugly." Oliver said sarcastically.

Ava's mouth twitched and she said unhappily, "How can you call a child ugly? They all are innocent little things."

"Baby come on, do you think he could compete against the child we will give birth to? Our child will be a hundred times better than him." Oliver said arrogantly.

Ava rolled her eyes at his narcissism but she had to agree that if their child really looked like Oliver then he will kill a hundred children just like his father. However, she just wished he wouldn't be a narcissist like Oliver.

"So when are you giving me a son?" Oliver's quiet voice was full of joy, although it was hard to notice by others, but Ava still noticed it.

"Not now. First, we need to get married than maybe after a few years. I don't want to have a baby right away." Ava thought for a while then answered.

Just then, their family bucket was ready. Ava took it and they head toward the car as they continue on the topic.

"Why don't you want a baby right away? Didn't you say you love children?"

"Yes, I do but I have too much pressure at the hospital right now. Moreover, I just became the director. I need to make my position stable before I have a child." Ava said thoughtfully.

"Well, you don't need to wait for that. If you want I can help you get another promotion and make you the dean of the hospital." Oliver said seriously as he looked forward on the street and drove the car.

Ava stared at him speechlessly, how could he think of misuse his power like that? "No thank you. I'm satisfied to be the director. I don't want to be the dean of the hospital. That's a big responsibility I won't be able to handle that."

"OK, no matter what you want to do, I'll always support you." Oliver smiled and dropped the topics.

The car went silent for a while and they were enjoying the quiet atmosphere.

Ava suddenly asked, "Oliver, what do you like?"

"I like you," Oliver replied showing his neat white teeth.

"I meant for a present," Ava said quickly.

"Present? Do you want to give me a present?" Oliver raised one of his eyebrows and asked with a playful smile.

"I'll tell you what I want. Tell me what you like." Ava said softly in a coquettish tone.

"As long as it's from you, I will like anything. Of course, I like you the most."

Ava smiled but didn't say anything else.
