Chapter 5

Two weeks flew by. Barry and I trained at night so no one would see us. It's now the night before the wedding and I'm running in circles forcing myself to go faster. Barry stops in front of me forcing me to stop. "Hey!" I exclaimed

He shook his head. "Stop."

I glared. "Why?"

"You can't keep pushing yourself, Tin."

"I have to. How am I supposed to..."

"Your mom will be fine. Got it?"

I looked away as my eyes filled with tears. "I'm not sure, Barry. I don't know if she'll be fine," I whispered.

He moved so he was in front of me again and hugged me. "She will, okay? We can handle these two."

I shook my head. "I'm not so sure." I was crying.

"Tina," he said quietly.

I lifted my head. "What?"

"You can't think less of yourself. Our speed can't help us outrun our feelings and I know that's what you were trying to do."

"I'm going to hurt my mom again. That's all I can think about."

"How did you hurt her the first time?"

I shook my head. "I hurt her when I left. She didn't want me to go but I was determined."

"Are you still?"

I groaned. "I don't know," I whispered.

He looked at me. "Tina, don't doubt yourself." He smiled. "Zoom isn't going to get revenge on himself."

I chuckled wetly. "I know."

He stepped back. "I won't leave your side in this, okay? We work together."

I nodded. "Yeah. I think I'm going to train..."

"No."

I frowned. "Why?"

"Tina, you need rest. You've been training every night for the last two weeks. Get some sleep so you can be well-rested for the fight."

I bit my lip. "Just a little longer?"

He shook his head. "You're impossible. No, go get some sleep."

I rolled my eyes. "Fine, Dad."

He laughed. "I'm glad we're still on the fact that you aren't a fan of me."

I snorted. "Didn't I already tell you you are my favorite hero?"

He smiled. "Yes, but you still like calling me names."

"It's fun," I replied.

He shook his head." You're easy to read."

"Thanks." I zipped away and went to bed. In the morning, I woke up and helped my mom get ready. I got into my dress that really wasn't going to help me in my fights but whatever. I can work with it. I went downstairs and saw Barry in the living room. He was wearing a tux.

He looked up. "You look beautiful."

I wrinkled my nose. "It's going to be a pain fighting in this thing."

He chuckled. "Oh, I'm sure you can do it."

"So am I," I muttered.

He smiled. "Yes."

"Is Charles gone already?"

He turned serious and nodded. "He drove off a little while ago."

I groaned. "Bet he's going to meet Zoom."

"When do you think the fighting will start?" Caitlyn asked as she came into the room.

"Probably after they say 'I do'," I muttered.

"Probably," Barry agreed.

Mom came downstairs. "Are you ready to go, Tina?"

"We all are," I replied motioning to Caitlyn and Barry.

"Good. You're driving." She walked out leaving me scowling at her back.

I looked at the others. "Well, you heard her."

Barry nodded and we all headed off. When we got to the church Mom told us to get to our seats. We did but my eyes landed on Zoom. I glared and he smirked. I felt Barry grab my hand to hold me back. I forced myself to look away. Charles was waiting at the altar. "I don't know how long I'll last, Barry," I whispered to him.

"You'll have to last a little while," Barry muttered.

"I know and I'm trying. But it's hard."

"I'll stop you from doing anything. Let him make the first move."

I bit my lip and nodded. "Can't we do this before my mom ties herself to him?"

"No."

"Fine." Charles and Mom said their vows. They walked down the aisle and Zoom made his move. He snatched up my mother and zipped away. I ran after her and I could tell Barry was following me. It wasn't long until he caught up. He is as fast as I am. We both weren't as fast as Zoom though. I ground my teeth together and tried to force myself to go faster. Didn't work. I took a turn because I knew it was a shortcut. I got in front of him and tripped him.

He fell and Mom went flying. Barry caught her. "Nice," I told him.

He snorted. "Thanks. Could have told me that was a shortcut."

I grinned. "You followed me so what are you complaining about?"

"Nothing."

"Sure."

He sighed. "Couldn't wait, could you, Zoom?"

"Wait for what? Her to leave?" Zoom snapped.

I snorted. "I was in Central City. Why did you have to go after my mom?"

"It was the only way I could get to you." He zipped and grabbed my mom from Barry and zipped back to where he was. "I'll kill her if you don't give me your powers."

I glared. "Need I remind you that you would have to kill me to get it?"

He smiled. "I'd enjoy that."

I ground my teeth together. "I'm sure you would."

"What's going on?" Mom asked.

I rolled my eyes. "Exactly what I told you would happen. Zoom is evil. He is the same person who kidnapped me."

Her eyes widened. "You could have warned me."

I threw my hand into that air in exasperation. "I did! You didn't believe me." Barry snorted. "Shut up," I snapped at him.

He shook his head. "I'm not laughing at you. It's her I'm laughing at."

I raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really?"

"Yes."

I sighed. "Fine."

Zoom laughed. "So? You for her. Deal?"

I ground my teeth together again. "How about I work for you instead of you killing me?" I was gambling but I had to. I couldn't let my mom suffer through that again.

"No," Barry said.

Zoom thought about it. "Deal."

I started walking towards him but Barry grabbed my wrist. "Don't," he said.

I shook my head at him sadly. "I have to. I can't let my mom mourn again."

"Do you think that isn't going to happen if you turn evil? She'll be unset and blame herself for you doing this. You can't, Tina. Please."

My eyes widened. He was practically begging me. "I'm sorry," I murmured. "But I have to do this. I can't lose my mom too. You would do it if someone you cared about was over there."

He let go. "The person I care about is going over there."
