[Rei's POV]
So turns out that while I do have a talent for "creating new forms of taijutsu" as my dad previously said, memorizing forms is a totally different ballpark.
Sure I can increase the amount of thought streams present in order to increase my comprehension but why increase the quantity when you can increase the quality.
So in order to render such a trivial nuisance obsolete. I decided that I was somehow going to emulate Taskmaster a character from DC's Photographic Reflexes.
Now Eidetic Kinesthesia, sometimes called "Muscle Memory" or "Photographic Reflexes", is the ability to instantly mimic any physical skill including various fighting techniques, acrobatics, or weapon skills.
The mind counterpart of such a technique I already possess due to the mindscape is called Eidetic Memory also known as Photographic Memory, which is the ability to mentally recall anything and everything a character has ever been allowed to remember over the course of their entire lives.
Now using my Eidetic memory and Dōkeshi (Kurama clan Kekkei Genkai term I have coined in the prior chapter) I aim to emulate this ability.
But in order to emulate this ability I needed the help of a test subject who is proficient in martial arts.
Luckily my very willing slavedriver of a sensei was more than happy to help me explore with my Kekkai Genkai as he himself also wanted to see how my Genjutsu could augment my Taijutsu.
The essence of this technique is to place my target into a Genjutusu which monitors their whole body for example Muscle twitches, placements, etc., and record all this information in the form of an anatomically perfect golem at the floor of the ocean in my mindscape.
This technique was heavily inspired by my own mental golem which was created in order for me to learn how to control my own body.
Anyways after recording this information, I will then use multiple thought streams to convert this information into info packets that have been modified to suit my own body by simulating the information through numerous mental golems of myself trying to adapt to the information.
Now the more thought streams present in the simulation the faster the learning process. The more yin chakra supplied to the technique the faster the progress as the simulations experience a form of time dilation based on the amount of chakra supplied.
Now this technique requires my Dōkeshi due to the fact that I realized that I can gain tactile information about the subjects under my Genjutsu through it. Therefore I sadly can't share this technique with Gai (not that I was going to in the first place as currently I am not really sure whether or not to trust the Hokage which is the reason I have not shared my Total Concentration breathing with anyone yet).
Now another stipulation of my 2-bit Eidetic Kinesthesia is the fact that due to the level of complexity of the jutsu at least 10 thought streams and so far a third of my reserves must be diverted to it and the subject of the technique should not resist the technique.
This sadly makes it so that I can't copy the way Sharingan users steal taijutsu forms while fighting their opponent.
Though my Eidetic Kinesthesia is a wonderful learning tool as my mastery of Strong Fist is second only to Gai as it does not give the same amount of mastery of the technique as I have to simulate the memory packets in order to suit my body. The order simulations the closer I approach the mastery of the targeted subject but never equal.
Anyway, this whole venture took around 2 months.
Now after these two months, I realized the fact that while Stong Fist is a very good style of Taijutsu that I can use to unleash a devastating amount of my body's potential I realized that to find a Taijutsu Style perfectly compatible with my body have to create one on my own.
I asked Gai about his thoughts on my new findings and he told me that he himself heavily modified his father's variant of the Stong Fist Style in order to suit his own body and mind.
He told me taijutsu is a form of Art. It is an expression of who you are. So just like an artist who goes from tracing the outlines of another artwork in order to grasp the basics, they use the skills they gathered from tracing to create their own form of artwork.
After my talk with Gai that day onwards, I only started visiting him for a spar daily and joining him for an hour of endurance training instead of training for hours on end with him.
I instead used my status as a clan heir and asked my parents to get in contact with retired taijutsu masters and ask them if they were willing to teach me the basics of their art for a single session in return for a considerable sum of money.
Of course, none of the Major clans even entertained such an offer from our clan but certain civilian or minor clans in Konoha or the occasional visitor accepted as it was quite a profitable amount of money for a single session.
There were a few who were of put the the requirement of them being put under a genjutsu but the money was worth the risk.
Over the course of 3 months, I mastered a rather substantial amount of Taijutus Styles and knew almost all forms of taijutsu that were common in the leaf and some styles unique to some minor clans. Of course, the occasional visitors also provided rather foreign and innovative styles to master which gave me an unorthodox edge.
Using this repository of skills I finally decided that my personal taijutsu style was going to heavily take inspiration from the breathing style of the Water Hashira and the martial art utilized by the Hero Hunter himself.
Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist
Using my memories of the anime and drawing upon the fight scenes that Garou utilizes the art I recreated the base with my own library of styles and recreated the technique with the forms I gathered and were compatible with my body.
The main reason I did not directly modify Strong Fist as Gai had done was due to my body type. While the Kurama clan has weaker bodies than most shinobis, along with their genjutsu talents they also have a rather flexible body.
I decided to use the Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist as a base due to the flexibility of the technique and the fact that it is based on water.
Since the concept of the technique revolves around water I was able to empower the moves of the style similar to how Demon slayers empower their moves with breathing techniques.
In homage to the technique, I did not change the name of the moves I recreated to suit my body. They are (The following descriptions are paraphrased from the wiki):-
Water Stream Encampment (流りゅう水すい陣じん, Ryūsui-jin): Rei creates an area where his fists destroy anything that enters, protecting those inside.
Instant Movement (瞬しゅん身しん功こう, Shunshinkō): Rei jumps at his opponent using special footwork, swiftly and fluidly moving as if he were flowing. By moving in a way unexpected by the opponent, he precisely aims for their vital points. This technique also has a variant form when used alongside the Body flicker jutsu called Wave Weave.
Wave Weave is utilized to dodge attacks while using the similar footwork used in Instant Movement all while simultaneously flowing with the currents of water provided by the Body Flicker Jutsu. (the water currents are similar to the illusion provided by breath techniques)
Piercing Fang (牙が挿そう指し, Gasōshi): With the user's trained fingertips, the user can hit the smallest weak points with single hits of incredible accuracy. This move is known to be smooth like water but powerful enough to destroy rocks with unparalleled destructive power.
Allsight (見み切きり, Mikiri): By training one's dynamic visual acuity and anticipating the enemy's movements, Rei can catch and pierce even the quickest of enemies with precision.
Now similar to the anime, my techniques have the illusion of waves, but unlike the anime however, while the illusions from Demon Slayers tend to be purely Cosmetic mine due to the Dōkeshi are illusions that hurt and can be further enhanced by chakra.
In fact, it's not a stretch to say that the genjutsu in my Taijutsu is actually Ninjutsu because it affects the target and myself(when using Wave Weave) as a ninjutsu since the effects are quite real to us.
Furthermore, my techniques can be enhanced by water chakra in order to affect nonliving things with genjutsu by turning the illusionary into into a semi-corporeal substance.
In other words, it hits like water ninjutsu and acts like water ninjutsu, so it may as well be water ninjutsu.
Also, the source of the water in my attack is the same water from my Mindscape. So the associations shared by the water in my mindscape also affect the attack. For example, If I decide the fact that the water being utilized from my mindscape is dense then the water released will be dense.
Anyway, by the time I finally perfected the last chinks in my Style I realized that my birthday was right around the corner. So I decided that In order to reward myself I might as well enjoy life as a frog in my personal zen-like bathhouse(small decoration fountain) that I commissioned the other day.
Life Is Good.

Yo Guys it's EgoLess
-So I have decided that I am going to be scrapping the plan of my SI being a swordmaster as I loved the way how Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist panned out along with breath styles. I mean I can still do it but I was thinking since this platform is already so oversaturated with swordmasters I might as well go for something else-
What are your thoughts about Gauntlets my friends?
Can you imagine a Shikai release for a pair of gauntlets? (foreshadowing? maybe...)
So...
Yes
or
I like my Self Inserts's Basic
You decide.
