84. A Broken War

The ones who come and disturb the war are Sasori and Deidara, Akatsuki members. Zoro has seen their bounty pictures so many times, so he recognizes them right away.

"2 assholes, ruining my fun."

Zoro is pissed off while Sasori and Deidara are surprised that he can find them. They have been hiding really well that no one among the Suna shinobi could find them even though there are some great sensor type shinobi there.

Yet, it's Zoro who finds them first and he's quite quick at it. He even sends an attack to expose them, a casual attack that has enough power to split the desert and cut the boulder they use to hide.

Actually, Zoro has detected them much earlier, but he thought they were Suna shinobi. He only attacked them because they intended to attack him when he was busy fighting Rasa. He doesn't want to be disturbed, so he sends an attack at them, only to find out that they are Akatsuki members.

"Do the 2 of you want to enter the list of Akatsuki members that I've killed?" Zoro is really annoyed by their interference that he starts thinking of killing them instead of continuing the war.

"Heh, you sure know how to talk big." Deidara says it mockingly. He doesn't take Zoro's words too seriously.

"Shut up, Deidara! Don't bring me with you if you want to die." Sasori warns Deidara.

"Eh? Come on, Mr. Sasori. There's no way you are taking his words seriously." Deidara is still being cheeky.

But suddenly, Zoro sends a horizontal slash towards them using Enma. It flies really fast and avoiding it will be hard. So Sasori takes out his 3rd Kazekage puppet to create a big iron shield in front of them.

Zoro's slash hits the iron shield and it pushes the shield back, surprising Sasori, Deidara, and even Rasa. That slash attack doesn't look particularly strong and it is sent from quite a long distance. But its power is enough to push the 3rd Kazekage's iron shield.

"Shit! Deidara!"

"Y-yes!"

Deidara quickly creates a clay bird and both of them immediately jump on it when it turns big. The bird then flies up and right at that moment, the iron shield is cut in half. The slash attack would have cut them if they didn't get away on time.

"T-that's crazy." Now Deidara is shocked by Zoro's attack power.

"I told you to not look down on him. He's a monster that even our leader can't defeat, so you'll die if you don't take him seriously."

Right when Sasori says it, Zoro raises Enma, ready to send another attack at them.

"WAIT, RORONOA ZORO! WE AREN'T HERE TO FIGHT YOU." Sasori quickly shouts to stop Zoro from attacking them.

"Not attacking me? What do you take me for? As if you come all the way to this place when I fight this village just to watch it. Even a 5 y.o won't believe that crap."

"It's true that our main objective isn't you, it's Sunagakure."

"That doesn't mean you aren't targeting me too."

"Then how about this? What if we work together to destroy this village and we won't do anything to you? We have the same objective anyway, right? Destroying Sunagakure." Sasori tries to negotiate with Zoro.

"Don't put me at the same level as you assholes. My target is just Rasa and the village leaders who have annoyed me. I am not a psychopath like you guys who like to kill people just for fun."

Zoro thinks that this is getting out of hand and there's no benefit in continuing this. So he sheathes his swords and walks away from Sunagakure.

"Where are you going, Ninja Hunter?" Rasa calls out to him while frowning.

"I'm leaving. My day is ruined. You guys can keep fighting if you want."

No one even tries to stop him because they are being wary of the other enemy. The war between Zoro and Sunagakure ends just like that, all because of Akatsuki's appearance.

Though if it's just Sasori and Deidara, then Zoro won't leave this fast. It's because he senses 3 more presence watching them from far away and he knows who those 3 are.

Obito, White Zetsu, and Black Zetsu. They are spying from a rather far location. Those 3 are much better than Sasori and Deidara at hiding their presence, but Zoro still senses them with his Observation Haki.

"These damn motherfuckers are still stalking me and ruining my days."

Zoro grumbles while walking away. Now he has gone far from Sunagakure and they can't see him again. No one is trying to attack him too, so he just leaves without any problem.

Meanwhile, the Suna shinobi and the 2 Akatsuki members are looking at each other very tensely. No one makes a move even after Zoro disappears from their sights. They just stare at each other without saying a word.

"Your appearance has changed, but I know that it's you, Sasori. There's no mistaking it with the 3rd Kazekage puppet in your hands. How dare you show your face here, you traitor." Rasa finally breaks the silence.

"What can you do about it, Rasa? You can't even handle a single bounty hunter and you call yourself a Kazekage? An incompetent man like you is the reason this village keeps declining. You are just someone living in the 3rd Kazekage's shadow. It's better for you to join my collection instead of leading this village."

Rasa frowns when he hears Sasori wants to turn him into a puppet like his predecessor. This is Akatsuki's objective for sending Sasori and Deidara here. To kill both Zoro and Rasa then turns them into puppets.

If they can't make Zoro join them alive, then it's better for them to kill him and make him join them after death. They just wanted to kill him at first, but then they thought of turning him into a puppet like the 3rd Kazekage because it's too wasteful to just kill him.

But Zoro found them out before they could even launch their attacks. They plan to use Deidara's jutsu to bombard the whole battlefield and kill their targets along with many Suna shinobi. But now they can't do it because they've been exposed.

They don't leave yet though because they still plan to kill Rasa even though Zoro has left. They've gone this far already, so they can't return empty-handed. Besides, they've been exposed, so might as well try to get one of their targets.

Also, they don't just want to kill Rasa, but they also want to catch Shukaku. It's not yet the time for their main plan, but the war between Zoro and Suna is a good chance for them to catch Shukaku too.

Too bad, their good plan to reap all the benefits after letting their targets kill each other is ruined when Zoro exposed them. Now they need to fight the whole Sunagakure that still has a lot of energy to fight.

But they don't want to back down before trying. At the very least, they can gauge Sunagakure's power with this fight. They also can weaken this village by killing many Suna shinobi.

Or at least that's their intention. Too bad they can't do it because they suddenly receive a letter sent using an eagle. Obito sent it after seeing that there's no benefit in continuing this fight because it will just make them into a bigger threat for the Shinobi World.

They are still amassing power and shouldn't expose their intention to the world yet. Their main plan hasn't started, so they need to keep a low profile for now.

Once they start attacking villages and catching Jinchuuriki, the whole world will hunt them actively. That's why they need to catch the Tailed Beasts in a short period of time because the villages will protect them much more seriously and it will be much harder to catch them.

So if they catch Shukaku now, the other villages will be very wary of them and the other Jinchuuriki will be more protected which will hinder their plan, so they need to hold back now.

Zoro also retreats because he knows this. If he continued to fight, he would just help Akatsuki get Shukaku earlier than it should be. He doesn't want their plan to work well, so he decides to retreat.

Besides, he has shown his point already by attacking Suna, so it's enough. Now other villages will need to think many times if they want to mess with him because he is crazy enough to attack them back.
