43. Danzo

In an underground room in Konoha, many people with black cloaks and animal masks are kneeling in front of a man who has an X-shaped scar on his chin, has his right eye bandaged and his right arm hidden in his clothes.

These are Root Members and the man is their leader, Shimura Danzo. He was the one who ordered those 10 Root Members to get Zoro today.

"Is that green-haired kid still in the village?"

"Yes, he hasn't left the village since he met the 4th Hokage."

Danzo clicks his tongue because not only he failed to get Zoro but even the 4th Hokage knows what he did now.

He was planning to get Zoro on his side, obviously by controlling Zoro forcefully using similar seals he uses on Root members to make him obedient.

But he never thought that the 10-men team he sent to be defeated by Zoro alone even though he chose them carefully.

"Keep tailing him. If he's not on our side, then he is a threat."

Danzo wants to use Zoro as his pawn outside the village. It's difficult to find such a strong individual outside of the hidden villages.

He is very interested in using Zoro because Zoro can enter all villages without much problems as a bounty hunter from a neutral country. So Danzo knows he can use Zoro for many things that even his Root members can't.

But if he can't get Zoro, then no one else will, that's his principle. Besides, he has offended Zoro, so if he fails to bring Zoro to his side, then they will become enemies for sure.

Danzo dismisses his men and goes to a room located deeper underground. Only he can access this room because he has important things kept here.

He takes out a scroll from his sleeve and opens it after unlocking the lock seal on it. It's a letter from Orochimaru about some intel and research results they worked on together.

Danzo is so focused on reading the letter and doesn't realize someone is coming out of his shadow. When he realizes it, it's already too late because Zoro's Sandai Kitetsu already cuts both of his wrists like butter.

"ARGH!"

Danzo screams, but his decades of experience makes him able to move logically despite being very shocked by the situation.

He jumps away from the attacker while turning around to see who it is. But Zoro already predicted this and jumped toward Danzo before catching his neck with left hand.

Zoro slams Danzo onto the wall, then he stabs Danzo's chest in the middle with Sandai Kitetsu that then pierces the wall to nail Danzo on the wall.

He deliberately avoids stabbing Danzo's heart so as to not kill the guy too quickly. He cuts Danzo's hands to prevent the old guy from making most of his jutsu.

Zoro doesn't remember whether Danzo has jutsu that doesn't need hand seals, but he's sure that most shinobis need hand seals to activate almost all of their jutsu.

They also need hands to hold weapons, so removing those hands is an almost guaranteed method to win against shinobis. That's what the samurais always try to do when facing shinobis, it's a key to victory for those who can't use jutsu.

"I believe I don't need to introduce myself, right, old man? Also, I'm sure you are wondering how I can enter this place even though it has so many seals. Well, I don't need to tell you, but I have my way."

Zoro has been hiding in the shadow using Torao's ability. They entered the shadow after eating ramen and went to find Danzo. Torao has found the Root's secret base after looking around for a day and they chose tonight to attack.

But because Danzo was having a meeting with the Root members, they need to hide in his shadow for a while and only come out after he is alone in this sealed place.

"You actually brought us to the best place for this. Now no one can disturb us because no one else can enter this room. You made your own prison. How funny."

Zoro takes out Danzo's ninja bag that's hidden beneath his clothes. Then he takes out the kunais and uses them to nail Danzo's arms and legs onto the wall like a crucifixion.

"Ugh! Y-you.... D-do you know what you're doing? Are you trying to be Konoha's enemy?"

"They are welcomed to be my enemies if they think it's worth it. I don't know about the 3rd, but at least I know that the 4th Hokage doesn't think highly of you. We'll see if this village will become my enemy because I kill someone like you. Well, I don't really care anyway. I am a lone wolf, doing everything alone and I'm not depending on this village to live. I don't care if a village becomes my enemy."

Zoro cuts the bandages on Danzo's right arm and sees the white pale skin. He already guessed it, but this guy really already has the 1st Hokage cells used on his arm.

Then Zoro cuts the bandages on Danzo's right eye and sees that he already has a sharingan there. But it seems to be the only sharingan he has now because there's no sharingan on his transplanted arm.

"For someone who accused the Uchiha clan to be the culprit behind the 9 Tailed Fox incident, you surely have an interesting secret. Maybe it's actually you who controlled that fox instead with this sharingan."

Zoro plucks the sharingan out of Danzo's right eye socket. He tosses it to Torao who then stores it in his personal storage space jutsu to be kept safely.

If they don't take the sharingan, then Danzo will surely use Izanagi to save himself later when Zoro kills him. So Zoro is glad he checks whether Danzo has any sharingan or not before going for the kill.

"I wonder whose sharingan that was, but it's not really important now, right?"

Zoro cuts all of Danzo's clothes, making the old man fully naked. It's not that he wants to see this old guy's thing. He just wants to make sure there's really nothing like another sharingan hidden somewhere in Danzo's body.

After making sure of that, Zoro cuts Danzo's legs on the thighs using Wado Ichimonji. The old man screams in pain, but no one will come to help him because he himself made sure this room is completely sealed that even sounds can't escape.

Danzo is losing blood rapidly and his consciousness is also fading quickly. He still feels a lot of pain, but he doesn't even have the energy to scream because of his blood loss.

Zoro just stands on the other side of the room, watching him getting weaker. Now he really hopes Zoro will just kill him instead of letting him die slowly like this.

"Can you feel it? That sword in your chest is a cursed sword that really loves blood. It's now feeling joy thanks to your blood. The blood of those 10 people you sent also gave that naughty sword happiness. That sword's rank is lower than the other 2, but it is the most bloodthirsty of all my 3 swords, that's why I use it to nail you like that."

Zoro feels bored waiting, so he just rambles about it even though he knows Danzo won't care about it now.

"If you are wondering why I don't kill you right away, well, let's just say that I'm not in a rush. Maybe you think I want to ask a few things, but no, I don't care about why you target me. No matter what your reason is, I will never forgive those who try to harm me, no matter who."

After waiting for a while, Zoro finally can't sense Danzo's presence anymore. But he still makes sure that this old guy is dead by stabbing his heart and cutting his neck.

Who knows what trick this old fox has to keep himself alive? That's why he needs to make sure of it to avoid more problems in the future.

"I don't know how Konoha will react to this, but I guess it's better to avoid them from now on. Well, Konoha isn't the only place that gives bounty rewards."

Zoro now needs to get out of this sealed room. He holds all his swords and coats them with advanced haki. Then he spins the swords in his hands while facing the sealed door.

"Santoryu Ogi: Sanzen Sekai!" (3 Sword Style Secret Skill: Three Thousand Worlds!)

He charges forward and slashes the door with his swords. There's a very strong resistance from the seals on the door. But he keeps pushing it and finally manages to cut through the seals and the door.

"Hmm, might as well make a big scene here."

Zoro grins as he makes a stance with his swords after getting out of the room.

"Santoryu: Kokujo O Tatsumaki!" (3 Sword Style: Kalasutra Great Dragon Twister!)

Swinging his swords while rotating his body, Zoro creates a tornado made of flying slash attacks. The tornado destroys the underground room's ceiling and also the building above it.

Such a big attack and the destruction of this big building is taking people's attention even though it's located on the outskirts of the village.

A lot of ninjas like Anbu, jonins, Uchiha Police Force, and even the Hokage quickly come to the scene to check what happens.

But they can't come closer because of the blade tornado. They need to use various jutsu to destroy the tornado, but it's already too late when the tornado disappears. The Root HQ has been destroyed and the culprit has escaped.
