MONDAY. 7:59 AM.
I snap my head at him shooting an angry glare but he matches mine with a domineering strong look. I squint at him and he squints back. I really want to let out all of this bottled-up aggression and kill him right this moment but I have to be on my best behavior.
So instead, I smile at him which causes him to frown, probably surprised at my sudden change of emotion. I also look to smile at Adrian, "Excuse me." I say then walk off to coach.
I can hear footsteps behind me as I proceed towards him. Why is he still following me?
Once I reach Coach, I prepare to call him out by taking in a deep breath but I'm cut off by someone. Once again. "Coa-"
"Coach doesn't want to see you."
Jake quickly grabs my forearm and leads me away from Coach.
Hearing his sentence and seeing his actions, I feel like exploding because he is ruining my life with every breath he draws from the earth.
He lets me go once we are on the lacrosse field then hands me a lacrosse stick. "The game's about to start, you shouldn't waste your time on some stupid boy."
My lips part open as I stare at him. I look to where Coach stood, back to Jake then to the lacrosse stick in my hands; realizing what he just did. He stopped my long awaited conversation with Adrian, for what?
I shoot him a straight look. "It is official. I hate you." I say, "I think I'll continue to hate you forever."
"That's good, put all that emotion into this game so you'll win." He says as he twirls his stick in his hands, doing little warm ups. He isn't even staring at me, thinking this isn't a serious conversation.
I really hate him. Even though I have received a lot of lectures from my dad, mum, church and school about the negative effects of having hate, I still don't care. I hate him. I don't know who he is, he walked into my life on Friday midnight, stopped me from giving Adrian his birthday gift indirectly stopping Adrian from noticing me, stopped me from sitting with Adrian on the bus which gave Madison the chance to sit with him, now he just stopped me from talking with Adrian.
"Gosh, one day I might just beat you up. I'm warning you." I give him dead eyes.
He turns to me and I gasp. Not because he made an angry face or threatened me but because the reflection of the morning sun on his pale skin looks angelic. His dark blonde hair shines under the sun and his green eyes looks so mesmerizing as he smiles at me. "Good, I'll be waiting for that day."
His statement snaps me out of my admiration trance. 'Ahh, he's mental.' I think to myself.
He smirks at me then looks to someone on the field and that's when I notice every boy has taken a position on the field and there's a lot of them. Oh boy.
"Tim! Throw the ball to Kinsley."
I gasp out loud as a ball falls into my stick's net. I stare at the small white ball with wide eyes for some seconds as it sits in my stick.
"What are you doing? Play." Jake yells at me.
"How in the world am I supposed to play? I don't know what to do!"
"Just run."
"Run. Why?"
"Just do as I say."
I glare at him, "Why would I do as you say? Have you forgotten I hate you?" He's so good at testing my patience level. I give him a straight look, "Don't make me call you bad names."
He runs a hand through his hair with a frustrated sigh.
I think I really made a mistake when I spent five seconds staring at Jake running his hands through his hair because that way, I don't see the two huge guys running towards me at full speed. The moment I sight them, they both ram into me causing me to fall to the ground. I let out a loud gasp as I feel pain spring up in my lower back. I continue to groan for some seconds, staring at the clear blue sky.
I hear the two boys laugh and then they take the ball from me and continue running. I'm in too much pain to take details of the boys who just rammed into me so that I can get revenge later.
I lay there on the ground, waiting for the pain to ease out. I hear footsteps moving towards me, then Jake comes into view, blocking the sun's reflection on my face.
"You can still get off this field. Your last chance."
I glare at him. "I thought you said you won't come to me when I get hurt."
"I'm not here to help you. I'm warning you." With that, he walks off.
I quickly sit up, feeling a great urge to just slap him.
What a fish!
I slowly get up on my feet, dusting the dirt off my body.
"Oh my God Kinsley, what happened?" Adrian comes up to me, panting and a worried look on his face. "I was searching for you at coach's side but he said you never came to him."
I hold my breath for a moment, desperately hoping Adrian didn't see me fall to the ground. Because that'd be embarrassing; falling in front of your crush.
"And then I saw the other team run into you. How did you even get on the field?"
I exhale. Of course, he'd see me fall. I think the whole school saw me- I take a glance at the bleachers to see the other players who are currently resting or waiting for their turn to play.
"It's okay. I didn't get hurt too much." I force myself to say.
Nothing at all is going my way and it's currently taking a lot of self-discipline and self-control to keep myself from going crazy and yelling at the universe. I try to shake off the embarrassment.
"I'm really sorry about that, I didn't know the game started yet."
I smile. He still apologizes even when it's not his fault.
"So, let's do it right this time?" He questions.
I nod fervently.
He looks to the opposing players, all dressed up and ready to win then looks back at me, "They don't look like they'll give us some time to teach you how to play. So, I'll just go over the basics."
I keep my eyes on him, watching his pink lips move in the most pleasant way as he educates me.
"There are ten players on a team. We have the goalie," He begins and I begin nodding my head, feeling a sense of determination to win a goal and make him and the rest players happy. Who knows, he may just fall for me if I score.
"We have three attackmen." He says and I nod.
"Three midfielders." I nod.
"Three defen-"
"What the fuck are you doing?"
We both turn our heads to where the voice came from. Of course, it isn't that son of a rat; that's not his line.
Our eyes are met with Ty. Popular at Brice Worth as one of the best Senior players; throws massive parties- so I've heard; hits on all of the female teachers; very rude personality. I haven't met with him much, but those times I've interacted with him, he always says bull- I mean, beautiful things; I remember our little conversation when Jen and I first got off the bus on Campeek!
"What?" Adrian asks.
Ty's a little taller than Adrian so he has to raise his head up to speak, "You do know that's not going to help. We're about to start so let's not waste time."
I frown a little, what is he trying to say?
Another player walks up to us and I smile at him, "Thank God you're here."
Lennon chuckles, "I'm supposed to watch over you, how could I let you do this alone, Mushroom?"
I grit my teeth at him; I should hit him, must he say that? I take a peek at Adrian to see if he heard that embarrassing statement but he isn't paying attention, his gaze is on the opposing players at the other side of the field. By the look on his face, I think this game is going to be a tough one.
"Thank goodness Lennon's here," Ty begins looking towards him. "Could you explain to your ignorant ass team captain that he should get this girl off the field before she kills herself?"
That scares me, "What?" I ask in a small voice.
"Come on man, don't say stuff like that." Lennon replies.
"What? Am I lying though?"
Lennon just groans, putting his head down not knowing how to answer.
"Lennon, what's he talking about?" I ask again.
"Look here Kinsley." I turn to Ty. "Honestly in my opinion, you're too pretty to get unpretty through this game so I suggest you leave now."
