Crazy things I do for him

MONDAY. 8:19 AM.

I've never enjoyed hearing people discourage me from doing things. And hearing Ty say something like that, sets me off the edge.

All of a sudden, I feel like Jake's the one speaking to me.

"Come on Price, she doesn't believe me, we don't have much time. Tell her. Attackmen? Midfielders? Those are all bullshit."

I look to Adrian in front of me and he has an uncertain look on his face and that makes me uneasy. He's the reason I'm on this field and also because he gave me the reassurance that he'd be my personal trainer and help me, so if he is like this, how am I supposed to feel?

"Remember when I told you there are ten players on a team?"

I nod fervently, desperate to hear him.

"Well look around how many players do you see?"

I began turning my head to count. There are five players on our side of the field; Adrian, Ty, Lennon, I, and the goalie, I can't quite see his face since he's the only one wearing a helmet. I look to the other side and count, trying not to dwell on the fact that Jake's one of the opposing players.

"There are ten. You were right." I nod.

"On a team?" Adrian questions further.

Then it hits me, I frown. "Why are we five on a team?"

"Not bad, I thought you'd be dumb as most girls."

I ignore Ty's comment but I have a friend who will back me up; Lennon hits his arm, saying "Shut up."

"Yeah, this is a little different from original lacrosse." Adrian says in a slow tone. Probably he thinks that would ease out my uneasiness-no, it only amplified it.

I look to Lennon, a look of fear evident on my face. After all this time, I struggled to not be fearful and now I'm getting wrecked over some sport game. My mind keeps on flashing back to Jenny and I's conversation then to Jake's and how they said people get hurt during the game. Emotional pain I could handle but physical pain?

"I'm sick of this beating round the bush." Ty begins. "I'm sure no one told you but there are no rules to this game. You can do whatever you want to the other players, the only aim is to win. And coach won't stop you."

My eyes widen. What?

Lennon groans, "Would you stop acting like that?"

"What? You know it's true."

Lennon keeps quiet. And I know that silence a little too well; Lennon goes quiet anytime someone says something that's deathly true but doesn't want to admit to it.

"Guys the game's starting." Adrian says, his gaze on the other players as he positions himself with his stick in his hands.

"Start?" I freak out. "And I don't know a fu-" I cut myself and huff out loud, keeping myself from yelling out in frustration.

Adrian looks to me with a serious determined look, "Don't worry. I've spent a minute and half analyzing them and their body languages and I think I know what they want to do to win."

Another thing; he is really observant and intelligent. He might have an IQ of 199.

"Don't worry. You won't get hurt; I promise. So, don't be afraid. Put all your effort in this game."

I stare at him for a moment then I smile. I suddenly feel calm, like I have an angel on my side.

I nod.

Adrian turns around to look at the rest of the team behind us. "Guys, we can do this, it's not the first time. All we have to do is get the ball to the other goalie's net. Easy right?"

"Yeah." They respond. As if.

"Also don't let them get close to Kinsley." Adrian adds.

I frown at his statement.

"Why? What's so special about her?" Ty asks.

I roll my eyes at his sentence and Lennon sighs at his immatureness.

Adrian seems to not dwell on his statement and looks back at the other team, "I have a feeling they want to use her to their advantage."

I frown. What does that mean?

"Assholes." Lennon says.

"Yeah, I know." Adrian agrees. He turns to the goalie, "Jackson!" He yells and forms his finger in an 'ok' sign then the goalie does the same.

Adrian looks to me, "You're fine." He confirms with all sincerity and I can't help but smile dreamily at him. Our eyes stay glued to each other for some seconds more:

Blue eyes and Blue eyes, a good match.

"Come on let's go." Adrian begins walking forward and we follow behind to meet the other players as they also progress towards us.

I suddenly hear someone snicker beside me and I detach my gaze from Adrian to see Ty walking beside me. Are all boys this annoying?

"I get why you're staring at him, he's hot. But if you keep it up, you might just get killed 1 second into the game."

I glare at him. I dare not show any sign that I have been caught, I can't afford any more people knowing about this.

"I wasn't staring at anyone." I curtly say.

He smirks then chuckles, "Of course you weren't. You were staring at the air."

My jaw drops.

"Anyways, just so you know. We don't usually play lacrosse this way so don't think we're psychotic or something. This is just how we play Campeek!" he says and I stop in my tracks once we meet the other players.

It's like a staring contest as the players stare at each other, I suddenly feel like there's a hidden meaning behind this game.

'There are no rules.'

'Do whatever you want to the other players.'

'The only aim is to win.'

'Coach won't stop you.'

At this rate, I feel like someone would pull out a gun and shoot his opponents just to win. I hope this isn't how every sport is being played on Campeek! because I'm not sure Jenny can handle it alone. I suddenly feel bad for not going with her.

I try as much as possible to shake the feeling off, I need not it.

To play along, I stare at the opponent directly facing me who happens to be Tim- the bean who threw the ball to me. But from the corner of my eye, I see Adrian stare straight at Jake and Jake stare back at Adrian. To me, they look really mad at each other and I honestly don't want Adrian anywhere near this stranger.

Blue eyes and Green eyes, a good match? I think not.

The whistle suddenly sounds, making me flinch at the noise.

"Shit." I curse out loud then immediately cover my mouth; my eyes wide open as I scan around hoping no one- especially coach didn't hear me.

I can't afford any more profanities coming out, uncontrolled. For six straight seconds, the only thought in mind is how I almost ruined our deal.

Once again, someone rams into me and I'm on my back once more.

I hear a couple of loud laughter as I quickly sit back up, staring angrily at the other players as they run towards our goalie and score. I huff, pushing a lock of my blonde hair away from my face. Three guys walk back towards us with victorious smiles on their faces as they congratulate themselves.

"What the hell?" Ty asks them.

"Did you have to do that? She wasn't even with the ball." Adrian questions.

One of the three boys laughs, unbothered. "I'm not the one who begged you to get a girl on your team. It's your fault." With that, he walks back to his position with laughing teammates.

I slowly get up on my feet, staring deathly at him. I think he has a girlfriend, let's see how he'll feel when I do this same thing to her.

I grip the lacrosse stick hard in my hands, feeling extreme rage as I stare at all the boys. I can already feel the burn in my palms and I know a slight bruise will start to form as a result of the gripping the stick so tightly.

"I change my mind. Maybe you should get off the field, the boys would do everything to annoy you. They're shameless." Adrian advices.

I turn my heated gaze to Adrian. "No. I'm not backing out now."

I'm in too much rage to realize I just glared at my crush. I begin walking forward to prepare for another round whilst staring at the boy's smiling faces one by one. I spot Jake and I can easily read the gentle look on his face.

'Get off now, please.'

I squint my eyes hard at him and he sighs in frustration, brushing a hand through his hair. I'm glad he understood my message:

'No, now shut up.'

I position myself along with the rest of the players. I bend a little holding my lacrosse stick properly as I look into the eyes of my opponent. The same guy who ran into me earlier. He smiles teasingly at me but I just keep a straight face.

Time for payback.
