The Legendary Dragon Egg II

II

~

As the sun sets on the horizon, the darkness slowly engulfs the surroundings, signaling the beginning of a Tel Am night.

They spend their entire day catching up on everything that happened in their lives while making the boat lantern that they will use for the Tel Am.

"Lily, just bring one toy with you, okay?" Lucy said as she prepared what they would bring to the celebration. He made sure to get the things that Lily needed.

"Yes, mama." Lily tried to look for her dragon toy curved from the oak tree. It was also a gift from her father when she was one year old before he started his journey as a merchant.

"Are you looking for something, dear?" Eliot asked as he finished tying his boots.

Lily looked up at her father with a sad expression on her face. "Papa, I can't find my dragon toy anywhere. I think I've lost it," she said, her voice filled with disappointment.

Her father placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "When did you last see it, Lily?" he asked, concerned.

Lily thought for a moment. "I had it with me when we had our breakfast outside. But I don't remember where I put it after that," she said, her voice trailing.

Her father smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry. We'll look for it together. It's important to keep track of our belongings and take care of our things," he said, emphasizing the importance of responsibility.

Lily's face lit up with hope. "Thank you, Papa," she said, grateful for her father's help and guidance.

Eliot lifted Lily into his arms and walked outside to check for her dragon toy on the table. It was already dark, and the moon was shining bright in the sky. Fireflies were moving around, lighting up the surroundings with their soft glow.

They tried to look for it, but there was no sign of Lily's toy. "Wait here." He gently put Lily down and continued to look for her dragon toy.

Lily's ears perked up as she heard a faint whisper that seemed to call out her name. She looked around, trying to locate the source of the voice. It was a woman's voice, soft and gentle, but it didn't seem to come from anyone nearby. She glances at her mother, who is still inside their cottage. And then back at her father, who was still looking for her toy.

Lily's curiosity got the best, and she decided to investigate. She slowly tiptoed away from her father, careful not to make a sound. She walked towards the caravan, where the voice seemed to be coming from.

It was dense and dark, and Lily felt a shiver run down her spine as she stepped into it. She looked around, trying to find any signs of the woman who had called out her name.

Suddenly, Lily noticed a faint light inside her father's caravan. She walked towards it, and as she got closer, she realized it was a glowing object. She used the ladder from the caravan and went inside. An egg, but not just any egg. It was a dragon egg - something Lily had only heard about in stories mentioned by her mother.

Lily's eyes widened with wonder as she approached the egg. It was beautiful, with shimmering scales that seemed to change color from the light inside. She hesitated for a moment, wondering if she should touch it.

As she reached out her hand, the egg began to glow brighter, and a warm feeling spread through her body. Her bright green eyes lit up. She connected with the egg as if it was calling out to her.

Suddenly, Lily heard the woman's voice again. "Take care of it, Lily. It's yours now."

Lily turned around, but she couldn't see anyone. She looked back at the egg and knew it was meant for her. Lily carefully picked it up, cradling it in her arms. She can hear a heartbeat synchronizing with hers.

"Lily?" A familiar voice called her. "Where are you? I found your dragon toy."

Lily's heart raced as she heard footsteps approaching. She quickly hid it using a cloak that she found beside it.

"I'm here, papa," Lily said as she appeared behind him.

"There you are. Where did you go?" Eliot pats his daughter's head.

"I heard Mama calling out my name," she said, her voice tinged with a hint of concern despite what she had just witnessed - discovering a mysterious egg.

"I see. Here's your dragon toy."

"Thank you," she gently grabbed it from her father's hand.

"Come now, let's go to the village and celebrate Tel Am together," he said with a smile.

Lily couldn't help but feel a sense of awe as she secretly glanced back at the dragon egg. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.
