A Week Has Passed

"What do you mean?" Thraia was confused, did Warlock help her family in any other way aside from paying for Neo's hospital bills?

"It would have been a waste if I only helped Neo, it was for the best that the root be removed." Warlock explained that they had already made Maddox pay for what he had done. Even if they're still underage, there are still things that can be done for aggravated assault, plus Warlock can use his connection so that the gang won't be able to escape punishment.

Warlock pledged all that with his family's name at hand.

Seeing the sincerity of Warlock, tears fall down Thraia's face as she thanks him wholeheartedly.

Warlock was stunned as he didn't know what to do, his friend's mother was crying in front of him and he's at a loss at what he needs to do.

Nathan eyed him that there's nothing that he needs to do, Warlock just smiled awkwardly.

It took a while before Thraia had calmed down; Nathan let her take a seat beside her.

Warlock took it as a sign to leave, it was best to leave it to the family, besides, he was hungry once again. It's like his stomach is a black hole, devouring every food he eats into oblivion.

Silence filled the air when Warlock went home, Thraia broke it by saying she'll buy dinner for them. Nathan decided to stay and watch his brother, not like Thraia would have invited him.

The brothers were now alone, Neo wanted to break the silence and erase the awkwardness thus he spoke first.

"Thank you."

Nathan didn't expect such words from Neo, he continued listening as Neo wasn't done talking.

With a deep breath he continued, "I'm sorry about earlier and what I had said yesterday. I don't know what was going on with my mind." Neo took the weight out of his mind and said all that he could, Nathan listened silently.

After some time, their mother came back and saw Neo's eyes were red, she asked what happened.

They told her that nothing happened, how could she believe that? But it seemed that Neo's expression changed for the better so she didn't push the subject. All that matters is that they're both okay.

Thraia put down the food that she had bought and had dinner.

The night was long as the family decided to stay the night at the hospital.

At an unknown place.

"It's a beautiful moon out there." The man talked as he played with the chair he was sitting on. He basked on the light illuminated by the moon.

"Have you discovered what kind of artifacts that old man from the Miller family had gotten in that newly discovered tomb?" The man talked to his subordinate.

"Unfortunately, sir, we still don't have any idea if he had gained something. The tomb has been guarded shut, it would take some time before we can infiltrate their defenses," his subordinate said.

The man stood up from his chair and walked by the large window pane overlooking the city.

"We'll just let that go on as mother fate intended, let's focus on the Miller family's business. Are the preparations complete?" The man asked.

"All preparations had been completed sir."

"Very well, target the least eye-catching business of them. We'll start from the ground up, we need to break them slowly, soon we'll have the whole country." The man smiled proudly.

It seems that trouble has been brewing silently, no one is aware of each other's plan. All is but a plan by mother fate.

A week had passed since the incident with Maddox. The real mathematics competition in the university is right around the corner. Neo was still in the hospital but his health had been improving rapidly, it would not take too long before he could finally be discharged.

Though Neo wouldn't want to be discharged yet, and so does his mother. It was a bliss at the hospital, because of the Miller family, they had the best treatment from the hospital; the food they were given was free and delicious, why would they reject that.

It was truly a bliss.

There was no interesting event that happened in Nathan's university, except the upcoming competition. All classes had been continuing as usual.

If there was anything new, it was the look on Nathan from the other students in the movie. The rate of gossip to roam around the campus was rapid, in just two or three days, almost all of the professors and students had learned about the changes in Nathan.

It was a mixed feeling, of course. Some didn't believe and continue to think that Nathan is just a nobody. Some thought that Nathan only managed because he cheated, considering the fact that Nathan was able to understand the mathematical question at the end better than the best professor, the notion is truly preposterous.

But beside all of that, almost half of the students in the university believed in the gossip and were shocked by Nathan's growth.

"Was Nathan really hiding his ability?"

"So, it was really true! The rumor that all of his tests are fabricated by him to stay at the borderline. I knew it!"

"He's really good at hiding, didn't I tell you all before. I'm not his professor but I deducted better than you."

"He's just a fake, either way the real competition is around the corner. All lies will be shed light, no lies will be kept unrevealed."

All kinds of reactions were circulating but the star of the rumors stayed deaf ear to them. He wouldn't even know that rumors are circulating if he didn't check his system. He had already used his hundred honor points to buy that tape that he doesn't even know if he'll be able to use.

Such a waste, it was good that he also gained some kind of achievement. If not, he'll really feel that he lost.

There was a big improvement on the data that was on Nathan's system.
