dream & death

As Joshua pondered the unsettling news report and the warnings of his intuition, his thoughts suddenly drifted back to the necklace he wore.

It was the last gift and memento left by his parents before their death on his 10th birthday. They found it in one of their ancient ruin explorations, and not much was known about it, but it looked exquisite and beautiful, so his parents gifted it to him when he said he liked it.

Just thinking about it made him nostalgic and also sad. He remembered how he had taken a liking to the necklace the first time he saw it and always felt a strange desire for the it.

His parents didn't think much about at that time and were even happy and relieved that he appreciated their work and didn't complain and his mother made the mirror into a small necklace gifting it to him. She was extremely proud of him appreciating their efforts as they couldn't spend much time with them due to their irregular ruin explorations which took most of their times.

He suddenly reached out for the necklace and felt a calm feeling wash all over him. It had always been like that ever since he was young, he didn't know what it was but the mirror always made him feel exceptionally calm and pleasant. He even felt that his unnatural instincts were probably an effect of this mirror.

"What an exhausting day it has been," he thought, and went to prepare for sleep.

Late at night, as Joshua was in a deep sleep, he suddenly had a strange dream. In the dream, he saw himself standing in an endless dark void, and everything was still. Far in the dark space, suddenly a silver light appeared, and the void collapsed, revealing the silver mirror!

In the mirror a faint silhouette of himself could be seen and before he could barely process what happened when suddenly, from the corner of his eye, he saw a sinister red light. Before he could understand what was happening, a jolt of fear pierced through the dream, and Joshua abruptly woke up, his heart pounding in his chest. A terrible feeling washed over him, chilling him to the core.

He suddenly got up from the bed and walked outside his apartment and abruptly looked towards the sky. What he saw left him shaking and soaked with sweat. There in the sky, he saw a blaring red light which seemed to be getting closer to him, just like the one in his dream, and the feeling of an impending doom kept increasing overwhelming him.

"Am I going to die like this?" he thought.

Suddenly, he seemed to have heard a faint whisper when his silver necklace suddenly flashed with a white light. Before he could understand what was happening, the void around him collapsed, pulling him inside the darkness. Then there was a moment of silence in the courtyard before red lightning bolts fell from the sky, decimating everything around for tens of kilometers.

Joshua was dead.

I would like if everyone gave their opinion on how they felt about the starting.
