Darkness, all he could see was vague lines and figures once his eyes adjusted to the dark. Solid Snake held his gun at hand, trying to concentrate on where Night Fright could be, questioning why someone who fancies themselves on invisibility and silence is using the darkness. He slowly paced forward, trying to find them but suddenly, he heard a hiss as a mist sprayed him in the face. His senses overwhelmed by the fragrance of the spray, Snake could feel slight movement brush past him so he instinctively kicked Night Fright in their thigh as he recovered himself. Solid Snake was about to run after until the lights suddenly flashed on, blinding the FOXHOUND operative. He then suddenly heard a footstep tap against a metal floor behind him and Snake quickly shot but because of the glare earlier, it hit the far wall, his mistake left him open to getting punched. He was getting frustrated by this phantom enemy, he needed to improvise on something before it could be fatal. Solid Snake took a deep breath to concentrate, he concentrated to sharpen his senses and surroundings, trying to make sense of everything. He heard something approaching him, speeding right towards him and about to get closer, Night Fright was going to strike. Snake then raised his hand to push the strike aside then stabbed his knife into Night Fright's thigh. The blood ran a trail down their leg, Night Fright was getting the spray but Solid shot their shoulder with his handgun and then leapt to kick them back. Night Fight then pressed on their wrist to shut the lights off, Snake kept his knife and gun in hand, now ready for the Silent End. He heard a couple of drops hit the floor and discovered that Night Fright was right behind him, he ducked them from hitting him and then sliced them in the abdomen. Night Fright stumbled back and then the lights flashed on, blinding him. Taking advantage, Night Fright then punched Snake in the abdomen and then shut the lights off. The FOXHOUND operative quickly recovered and took aim once more as the lights came on. Suddenly, a boomerang was tossed at Snake, he quickly caught it and recognized it as the same boomerang that belonged to Dirty Duck. Right before he could throw it back, the lights shut off, Snake readied himself for anything. A minute or two passed, Solid Snake calmed his breathing to keep his senses alert, he then heard faint drops of blood getting a little closer. Solid Snake closed his eyes briefly, he felt the lights flash on and ducked Night Fright's attack. Snake then shot Night Fright's arm and then jammed the boomerang into their abdomen, fatally puncturing the lung. Night Fright fell onto their back and began to slowly bleed out, Snake then reached for Night Fright's mask and removed it to reveal their true identity, his old comrade from Outer Heaven, Jennifer,
"Snake….I'm sorry….I didn't…want to…" Jennifer said to him with actual regret in her tone, she touched his face,
"You…you didn't deserve…this…." She finally spoke as the life faded from her eyes and her hand collapsed. Snake then left her there and grabbed the hairspray to put it away and continued towards the armory. The speakers suddenly turned on as an old tune began playing,
"Why does the sun go on shining?…Why does the sea rush to shore? Don't they know it's the end of the world?…'Cause you don't love me any more…Why do the birds go on singing? Why do the stars glow above?" sang Big Boss as Snake approached the armory, unphased by the mad man's singing. He opened the doors and began to search for weapons he'll need against Metal Gear Delta,
"Don't they know it's the end of the world? It ended when I lost your love. I wake-up in the morning, and I wonder why everything's the same as it was? I can't understand…no, I can't understand how life goes on the way it does." Big Boss continued. Snake grabbed himself a grenade launcher, dual Mac-10 SMGs, two rocket launchers, C4, a belt of various grenades and his old trusty friend, a bow.
"Why does my heart go on beating? Why do these eyes of mine cry? Don't they know it's the end of the world? It ended when you said goodbye. Why does my heart go on beating?…Why do these eyes of mine cry?…Don't they know it's the end of the world? It ended…when you said…goodbye…" the speakers shut off as Solid Snake got all the ammo he needed and walked out the armory toward the chamber of the TX-99 Metal Gear, ready to face his last enemy.
