CHAPTER 27: A USELESS GROUP

The next world button was selected and both Noctis's and Faye's vision were blinded by the light from the phone.

When the light faded from their eyes, and they could finally see they were in an open plain. In the distance they could see a city surrounded by a large wall.

Noctis tilted his head "Well this place looks familiar."

Faye looked around "Been here before?"

Noctis shook his head "No just looks familiar."

He then looked at his phone and saw the title of the world. He sighed "Well let's head to the city and join the guild."

They both walked to the city as they looked around and took in their surroundings. Despite the wall there were no guards at the gate. Faye looked around "Why even have a wall of there are no guards to guard the front door?"

Noctis sighed "When it comes to this world just expect a lack of common sense."

They walked through the large city until they saw the adventurer's guild. When they walked in Noctis looked around and thought 'Looks like they are not here yet. Maybe we got here before them.'

The duo walked over to the receptionist desk where they saw a blonde woman who was showing a lot of her chest.

Noctis walked up "Hey excuse me we would like to register at the guild."

The blonde lady smiled "Sure that will just be a hundred Eris each."

Faye leaned into Noctis "We don't have the currency of this world."

Noctis nodded "Uh excuse me…."

The blonde lady smiled "Oh sorry my name is Luna."

He smiled "Luna can you put it on our tab, and you can just take it out of our pay after we complete our first mission."

Luna thought for a moment putting her finger to her cheek "You know no one has ever asked that but that's a really good idea. Come this way. I'll sign you both up."

She brought out a magic crystal on the desk "Just place your hand here and it will get a read on your potential and skills."

Noctis shrugged "Sure."

He placed his hand on the crystal and thought 'Not like I need the information.'

The crystal shone bright as it started to laser tattoo his information on his new guild card. Once it was over Luna took the card and was shocked "Noctis Prince you would be perfect for the assassin role."

She got further shocked "It even says that you can turn invisible and have shadow magic."

While she was talking Faye had her hand on the crystal as well. Luna picked up her card she was just as shocked "It seems you have amazing potential for wind magic. You are already incredibly skilled with the bow however and your role is Sniper."

Noctis smiled "So we all set?"

Luna smiled "Of course here are your cards. I'm sure many adventurers would want you two in their group. For your payment you are actually in luck."

Luna continued "According to reports later today there will be chance to make a lot of money catching cabbages."

Faye tilted her head "Catching Cabbages?"

Luna simply nodded "Don't worry it will make sense when the city-wide mission starts."

Noctis started to chuckle causing both Luna and Faye to give him a look "Sorry, sorry. Faye let's wait. Until then let's hang around the guild."

Faye smiled "Thanks again Luna. We will be in your care for the near future."

Luna smiled "It's a pleasure to have new adventures like you join."

They separated from Luna and started to walk around the guild Noctis notice a looking for members quest that was poorly drawn he immediately recognized it.

They then heard a girl loudly say, "That's all you would have to do Kazuma if you wanted to learn explosion magic all you have to do is ask!"

Noctis and Faye saw a girl then look dejected as she ate next to a man wearing a weird outfit for Faye, but Noctis recognized it as a track suit.

They walked over to the duo at the bar and both heard the girl quietly say, "He called me kiddo."

Noctis sat down next to them "You are Kazuma right?"

Kazuma turned an immediately freaked out thinking 'Why's this scary guy with a mask talking to me.'

Kazuma sighed "Yes I am."

Noctis smiled under his mask "I'm Noctis and this is Faye."

Faye waved at Kazuma who just smiled thinking she was cute. He continued "I saw your request on the guild board. If you still have openings, we would like to join your party."

Kazuma was eager to except but then he looked up at a girl with blue hair who was doing party tricks and the girl next to him who was twirling a fork in a circle. He then looked back at Noctis and Faye. Thinking 'Well the girl seems alright, but this dude is giving me weird vibes with the mask.'

Kazuma sighed 'It's not like it could get worse.'

Kazuma looked to Noctis "Can I see you without your mask first?"

Noctis shrugged "Sure."

He took off his mask much to everyone's interest apparently a large part of the guild was paying attention. Kazuma internally sighed 'I was expecting some kind of deformity not for him to be good looking.'

The blue haired girl that Kazuma was looking up to earlier came crashing down from the second floor "You can join our group."

Noctis scratched the back of his head "Thank you but only if Faye joins too."

Kazuma covered the blue haired girls' mouth "This is Aqua, and she seems to be a little too eager. Can I see both of your adventurers' cards and see if you fit in our group?"

Noctis and Faye nodded "Sure." They said simultaneously.

Kazuma was looking at their cards thinking 'This is just not fair. Good looking and good skills. Shouldn't this be my life. Plus, a cute girl that looks useful."

He sighed internally looking at the two girls in his party Megumin an Aqua 'Well at least some useful people will be in our party.'

Kazuma handed their cards back "You are both in."

Noctis smiled "Great. Let's reintroduce ourselves. I'm Noctis assassin, I guess. I have shadow magic as well."

Faye smiled "I'm Faye best archer you will ever meet."

Kazuma nodded "Kazuma Sato. Adventurer."

Aqua did a spin and changed natures beauty "Aqua. Arch Priest and party trick enjoyer."

Megumin pointed to herself "Megumin. Arch Wizard with the best explosions."

Another blonde girl started to come up "Kazuma it's good to see you again. You seem better then yesterday."

Kazuma internally sighed and side eyed the blonde 'This girl can't take a hint.'

The Blonde girl smiled "Can I join your party?"

Kazuma looked away "You can't and that's final."

The blonde girl then had a heavy blush and moaned, and she started to breath heavy. "So fast and cruel."

Faye leaned into Noctis "What's wrong with her?"

Noctis smirked trying to hold back a chuckle and whispered, "I think she's into being bullied."

Faye's eyes went wide "Why?"

Noctis shrugged "Just her thing I guess."

There was then a girl with silver short hair and a small scar on her face who giggled "That's not how you do it Darkness. Don't be too pushy."

Kazuma tilted his head "Who are you?"

The girl giggled again "I am Chris. I'm a thief. Just now I heard you were talking about gaining skills. I can teach you some thief skills they are particularly useful. All you have to do is buy me a drink."

Kazuma smiled "Done. Barkeep another drink for the lady."

Awhile later Kazuma left with Darkness and Chris. Leaving Noctis and Faye to stay behind with Aqua and Megumin.

Aqua smiled "So Noctis you single?"

Noctis looked over to Faye who was staring him down "No. Faye and I are engaged."

Aqua tilted her head "You mean as friends, right?"

Noctis sighed but then put on a smile "Aqua I don't have any money yet could you please by me a drink. You know you should treat your juniors in the group."

Aqua smiled "Of course Noctis. Don't worry I'll take good care of you."

Aqua got up and left to go to the bar. Megumin and Faye thought 'Too easy.'

Faye turned towards Megumin "So Megumin we heard you like explosion magic?"

Megumin lit up "Yes, they are just the best. I refuse to cast any other spell."

Faye nodded "Right…."

She looked over to Noctis with a questioning look. A look that said, 'Why did we join this party?'

Noctis chuckled as Aqua handed him a beer. Faye came over and stole it. "Aqua could you please grab me another. Faye just stole mine it would mean a lot."

Aqua scowled at Faye but turned to Noctis "Of course."

She got up and left to the bar again. Megumin and Faye shook their heads in unison.
