Volume 3 Episode 8: BANG!

The car was moving through the highway at a high speed. Along the way, the young man behind the wheel would often glance in the rear view mirror, but never turned his head.

Lin was still holding Thomas within his grasp. He knew that if he makes a mistake right now, he would probably lose his life before reaching the tombs.

'System!'

Lin called out the system in his mind, and the transparent screen appeared right in front of him.

[ What is it boss? ]

'I have already learned the flight tutorial, so you can stop that.'

[ I see, then I shall. ]

The system confirmed Lin's request, and the transparent screen in front of him disappeared within the blink of an eye.

'System, how many minutes until we reach the Rivaldo mansion?'

[ … according to my calculation, it should take you about eight to nine minutes, with traffic taken into consideration. ]

'They probably got the information that I've kidnapped their young master, right?'

[ Unfortunately, yes. It appears that the Rivaldo family had installed multiple cameras inside the school to monitor the young master. The footage seems to be broadcasted to their mansion wirelessly. They already knew about it since the moment you grabbed Thomas. ]

Lin raised his eyebrows at the system's explanation.

'I see. So then, are you sure that they haven't been in contact with the Han family after the kidnapping incident?'

[ Positive sir. There hasn't been any sort of contact between the Rivaldo family and the Han family. ]

'Good. It seems that they are extremely afraid and wary of me. Probably because they must think of me as a spy rather than a normal high schooler.'

[ Well, you did beat one of their best bodyguards in just a few seconds, so I can definitely see where they are coming from. They are more likely to believe that you're an assassin trained from birth. ]

Lin snorted at the comment made by the system, but didn't rebuke it.

Thomas, who seemed to have calmed down after lying in the car for a while, looked at Lin with hostility.

"Hey, just so you know, you can still walk away. I am giving you one last chance. If you meet my father, I can assure you that you'll not live to see another day. This is me being nice."

Lin moved his gaze to Thomas's face, who got tensed up the moment he saw the emotionless eyes of Lin. But nonetheless, he didn't quiver, and instead stared straight back at him.

Lin stared amusedly at the young boy who was trying to seem brave. He grinned at Thomas, but didn't respond to his words, choosing to be silent.

"What? You're not saying anything?"

Thomas, who saw that Lin wasn't answering back, got a bit more cocky.

Unfortunately for him, Lin decided to answer this time. He suddenly grabbed Thomas's hand and twisted one of his fingers.

"AHH!"

Thomas screamed in pain, causing the driver to almost turn around to try and shoot him, but Lin had his other hand around Thomas's neck, with the pen right on top of his neck.

"Don't even think about it."

The young man bit his lips, but ultimately didn't turn around and continued driving.

Lin looked at Thomas, who was crying from the pain of his broken finger, and snorted.

"Don't forget, you're still my hostage. I just have to make sure that you stay alive. Doesn't mean that I can't do anything to you. Got that?"

Thomas wanted to say something, but he saw Lin staring at him, decided to not open his mouth, and nodded his head instead.

The car finally reached the Rivaldo mansion, and Thomas screamed out from the back of the car loudly.

"DAD! HELP ME!!"

"Shut up!!"

Lin smacked his head hard in order to make him shut up, which he immediately did.

The Rivaldo mansion was extremely huge in size. The mansion in particular was very eye-catching with a unique architecture. Clearly, the family had a lot of money.

'System, where is the airstrip with the private jets?'

Lin was still conversing with the system in his mind.

[ The airstrip is about five hundred yards west of the mansion. The private jets are located there. ]

"Perfect."

Lin quietly whispered to himself, as he carefully exited the car with his hostage.

He looked around, scanning the surroundings for any threats. The young man who drove them to the mansion got out of the car and started walking towards the front door.

[ Sniper alert! Northeast building, hundred and ten metres away! ]

The sudden alert of the system caused Lin to act fast, and time slowed down for him as his mind started looking for an escape plan. Lin quickly jumped back into the car, pulling Thomas back as well, to get away from the enemy's site. There was no time to waste.

During the jump backwards, Lin was able to catch a glimpse of the enemy sniper from the location given by the system. But to his surprise, the sniper wasn't aiming at him, but the young man walking towards the door.

'BANG!'
