"Land the carrier!" Nick ordered.
In the sky a huge aircraft carrier slowly dropped down into the ocean before coming to a complete standstill, not even the waves could move it.
Three day's earlier when Nick had met with Vali one on one, he had secretly placed a tracker on hulk v2 when he was trying to claw himself out of its grasps.
Nick thought he would be able to know where Vali was at all times using this method but for some reason it wasn't working. Instead, the tracker that was supposed to be tracking Vali's movement, was tracking him instead.
He had thought that Vali had found out about it and placed it back on him just to mess with him but even after searching his entire body, Nick couldn't find the tracker.
Now he was worried, he felt like Vali was watching him at all times so he had been restless for days and even sent one of his best agents, Leo Fitz to plant some devices around Vali's home without getting noticed but he just recently got back some bad news.
"A god damned gas leak!? How could you not notice it?" Nick furiously smashed his fists into a table but as soon as he did that all the screens monitoring Vali's mansion turned black while a high pitch nose came from all the listening devices before they all short circuited.
"That... an emp?"
Behind Nick was the very agent he had sent for the task, Leonard Fitz. Leo was also baffled by the sudden fire caused by the gas leak and he was sure there were no signs of there even being one in the first place so how was there a goddamned gas leak?
Nick frowned, "emp? How the hell did that kid get an emp? See, we would've known if you hadn't messed the whole operation up!"
Leo clearly remembered when he placed the device on the oven in an inconspicuous spot, there was definitely no gas leak. The listening device on the oven was one of the first devices he planted, so that means during the time he placed it and after he was finished, something happened.
"I don't know... there were no signs of there being one." Leo defended himself.
Nick looked at Leo with ridicule, "t, there were no signs? Is that your excuse? I don't want to hear excuses!"
Leo kept eye contact with Nick the entire time he was up in his face. He knew that the mission was was a bust and he was partly to blame but he didn't doubt for a second that there was something weird about the gas leak.
When Nick was done berating him, Leo looked at Coulson who was standing by the side and was helpless to help him get out of punishment, Nick was really mad this time.
Seeing that Coulson couldn't help him Leo thought about the unexpected gas leak and tried to offer an explanation to the fuming Nick, "I think there might've someone else eyeing the target... she might've caused the gas leak."
Nick was still fuming but turned to Leo when he heard the explanation Leo was trying to give him. Someone else eying Vali? Yes, that might be possible... that kid is definitely someone to look out for but why expose the devices? Wouldn't it make it harder on them too?
Curiously, nick stared down Leo and said, "this better be good! Speak, why do you think that?"
Right after Nick demanded an answer from Leo, he immediately felt something wasn't right. It was as if the air around him had changed, it was suffocating and unbearable.
Nick felt uncomfortable and it wasn't only him all the people in the room currently could feel it as well but unlike Nick they could all see the cause of the sudden change.
Behind Nick, a figure appeared out of nowhere then said in a dark tone, "yes, I would also like to hear this as well! Who else was trying to spy on me?"
Immediately, every agent in the room went on immediate alert and were about to pull out their guns but they were all immediately stopped when dark figures appeared in front of them.
Looking into the ghastly white eyes of the shadows, all of them felt some innate fear causing them to tremble uncontrollably especially under the vibe the whole room was under right now.
They were surrounded and they had no idea how or when they were surrounded only that they were now at the complete mercy of the man behind their boss.
Nick went stiff the moment he heard Vali's voice, he wanted to say something but was given no time at all before a very familiar figure appeared before him and once again lifted him by the neck.
The scene was so similar to the first time they met, 'Is this going to happen every time this kid meets me? Crap I can't breath, I'm suffocating'
It was exactly the same as the last time. Nick was trying incredibly hard to escape the grasp of hulk v2 but was still helpless.
"You thought you could track me with this?" Vali walked up to Nick who's face was starting to turn blue then reached out and plucked off a small device stuck on the hand of hulk v2.
Actually, Vali didn't notice the tracker until now. After the little incident with his mansion, Vali had become even more wary of these kinds of tricks now.
The threat of mutant abilities definitely changed his priorities on what was a threat or not and in this world where gods and super powered beings exist, small things like listening device and hidden cameras slipped his mind but he wouldn't make this mistake again.
Vali glared at Nick and wanted to just snap his neck like a twig right now but he knew he couldn't do this yet not unless he wants the government chasing after him and he also had decided he wanted to spend his life here after he competed his mission.
He could obviously obliterate the government but if he did this he would become a bon fide villain and a lot of innocent people would end up hurt because of the lack of a government, short story is that he didn't want this outcome.
As expected, Coulson reinforced this point by yelling, "stop! You can't kill him, the government will see you as a threat and hunt you down if you do!"
Vali looked at Coulson then smirked, "if you don't want him to die then why don't we start with him? Tell me, who else was spying on my home?" Vali pointed at Leo.
Looking at Leo with cold eyes, Vali waited for him to give him an answer, "let go of the director first then he'll tell you!" Coulson yelled before giving Leo a look.
Leo understood and kept his mouth shut as his eyes were drawn to Nick who looked like he was about do just die at any second now. With a wave of his hand Vali had hulk v2 release Nick.
"Now... tell me!" Vali coldly demanded from Leo.
Leo looked at Nick who was on the ground with bloodshot eyes heaving heavily then composed himself before he started to tell Vali about the woman he had found suspicious.
"W... when I was on my mission I noticed that one of the women in the team of renovator was strange..." Leo paused then looked at Vali to see if he had any reactions.
Vali's eyes were still cold and nothing changed so Leo continued, "she wasn't working like the other renovators and was instead looking around the mansion as if she were scoping it out but then at other times she was just working normally."
"I though she was suspicious so I kept my eye on her occasionally and I found that her personality was a little unique, she would sometimes look around strangely then at other times she would be hard at work renovating."
"After a while of observing her I even sometimes doubted my eyes when I found her seemingly appearing in different parts of the house insanely fast, I thought it was just my mind playing tricks on me since I was more focused on planting the devices."
Now that Leo was recalling the woman, he felt that she was indeed very suspicious only at that time he was more focused on planting the devices so she slipped his mind after he finished planting all the devices.
Hearing Leo's vague description of the circumstances Vali frowned and asked, "who was the woman?"
"I was only there for a bit of time so I don't really know her but I know she was the blonde with the mole on her hand." Leo replied.
Vali tried to recall all the workers with the renovation company and did seem to recall the woman Leo was talking about but Vali didn't find anything off about her when he was interrogating them with his eyes.
"Are you lying to me?" Vali asked coldly.
Immediately Leo shook his head, "I'm being entirely honest, there was definitely something off about that woman no matter how I think about it."
Could that woman really be a spy? If she was, she was an incredibly good one since there was no give away that she was a spy. This felt like an itch he couldn't scratch, it was irritating Vali like crazy knowing that there was someone else he didn't know about spying on him.
From the way Leo was describing her and her actions, it was almost as if they were two completely different people or one person with a multi personality disorder or something.
Vali didn't recognize the woman from anywhere either so he had no idea who she was or who she was working for or with. Maybe she was with hydra? It was plausible considering S.H.I.E.L.D. had been infiltrated by them.
Rubbing his throbbing forehead, Vali didn't pay any mind to Leo anymore and turned his attention back to Nick who was finally beginning to regain his composure.
Vali glared at him with the coldest pair of eyes he could muster for Nick right now, "I'm not going to let you off lightly this time... you're going to have to pay the price for angering me!"
