"How much longer you need!?" Dante shouted while beheading a Genma gorilla mid-air. He then used kicked its body toward a bunch of genmas, throwing them off the platform. While those bodies were plummeting to the ground, countless genmas were either flying or climbing to where the floor they at.
"It's hard to say, this thing isn't stable." answered the Ancient One.
I keep shooting and shooting, I actually didn't mind for it to last longer. This is the best spot to leveling, I also have my two hardworking party member to help.
Dante shuddered and glanced at my side, "What the! I feel like someone was talking on my back."
"Stop talking and just work harder, look at Samanosuke, he's never distracted." I nudge at Samanosuke. He was busy dashing left and right, everything on his path was cut in two. Sometimes he would send several crescent gusts to take down the flying genmas. Whenever he got wounded, he would absorb the floating soul of the genmas to recover. No matter how bad he was injured, it will heal instantly.
Suddenly, a time sphere formed under my feet. I was too focused on shooting at the flying genmas when suddenly a thin membrane-like bubble covered my view.
Shit!!
I closed my eyes and put strength on my leg and leaped outside. I did a barrel roll to stop my sudden movement.
That was close!
I thought in my mind. However, it was too silent. I opened my eyes and stunned by the view. I was standing in the middle of the road with nothing but grass around it. This seems to be a savanna.
"Regina, where are we."
[It seems that we were thrown off by the time sphere, sir.]
"I know that. But where we are standing at, right now."
[A road, sir?]
I crumpled my face from hearing her answer before she continued, [Just kidding, Sir. From the star's alignments, our position was near the equator of the map.]
Well, that's reassuring. Hell naaah.
[I suggest that you walked further, Sir.]
"Which way? That or that?" I pointed at the two ends of the road.
[Your pick, Sir.]
Somehow, I felt that she's not reliable at this. I just sighed and start singing a nursery rhymes, "eenie meenie miney mo, catch a bad chick by her toe. If she holla..."
Hold on, why I suddenly got annoyed by the lyrics? Is it the correct one? Ah, whatever I'll just walk that way.
I picked one side of the road and just walked. The cold air was piercing my legs. Next time I used permanent reinforcement, I must pick a bigger coat or jacket. The adjustable temperature was a blessing by God for me.
Huh?
I have been walking for 10 minutes when I found something laid on the road. With Eagle Eyes, I could discern that those are human bodies. There are several more by the sides of the road.
I checked for their vitals, nobody was left alive. I then noticed a single trail marks from blood on the road. Whoever he was, he seemed to be badly injured and crawled. I followed it and found him.
No! No...
It was my father's. I panicked. Cold sweat drenched my back. I dashed toward him, leaving a crack on the ground I was before.
"Dad! Daddy, wake up."
It was too late, he's already gone. My brain was put on a stop. It was too cruel, the time sphere sent me into this night. It felt like God was mocking me.
Droplets of tears fell on his bloody body.
Wake up, please. Your son is here. Don't you wanna look at my face? You supposed to be a superhero for me, right? This type of wound shouldn't be a problem for you.
My hand was now soaked in his blood. The reality in this world was too cruel. Why you reincarnated me? I never wanted this. All kinds of thoughts swirled inside my mind. I missed the day where I could just sit on the bed, playing games all day long.
A roaring noise broke my thoughts. I glanced at the source of the noise. It was a car accelerating on the road. With my Eagle Eyes, I could see the man that was driving. He seemed to be missing an arm, I wonder what happened to him. Whoever it is, I knew he had the answer I was looking for.
I pulled both of my handguns and start aiming. He noticed my figure, standing in the middle of the road.
"No way..." The man seemed to recognize me. He was frightened and suddenly swerved the steering wheel, making the car roll over several times to the side.
I approached the now wrecked car and opened the door. The man was still wailing in pain from the crash earlier. I pulled him out and threw him on the ground. From his expression alone, he seemed to know me but I never meet him before, not in this life that is. Which means he was part of that group, Ulysses Klaue. I stood silent to let him spill whatever he knows, and it works.
"How! How did you get here! Please spare me, I give up." He was terrified of me. That was new, what to do now?
[Ask him, why he did it, Sir.]
Huh? Okay. I repeated what Regina told me to ask.
"B... Because..." His eyes wandered off, thinking for a lie to cover whatever he did. I don't like it.
Crack!
I stepped on his left foot, followed by his scream.
"Okay! I'll tell you why. We... we were ordered."
[He lied.]
Crack!
I stepped on the other feet.
"Guuhh...! I'm sorry! It wasn't me!"
[He lied.]
Crack!
Now it was his left knee.
[He lied]
Crack!
[He lied]
Phook!
[He lied.]
Thwack!
[He lied]
Crack!
[He lied.]
Bughh!
The man was lying his guts out. His stubbornness was commendable, but he used it in the wrong situation.
"Another lie, another broken part of you. Now you better tell me everything from the start till the end."
He couldn't even hold his head up. Half of his body was broken now. I grabbed his hair so that we could make eye contact. His eyes trembled.
"It...it's because...they...re..refused."
"Who?"
"Y...your parents."
My mind went blank. I wanted to send him to the afterlife but it was too easy of an end.
"What are they refusing for?"
"To..to be our agents. To infiltrate Wakanda."
It's that damn place again. I stood up to process this information.
"Then you killed them?"
"It was...a blunder. It shouldn't have ended that way. Trust me, please."
"Shut the fuck up! Just because they refused, doesn't give you a right to kill them!"
The man flinched while covering his face, he thought I would continue torturing me.
"Haha..." A laugh came out of my mouth. It was just too simple. "And here I thought that my parents died for a damn noble reason. Haha... it was just for refusing an agreement."
Bang!
The man just died. It was too tiring. This sequence of events was just too exhausting. I sat on the ground holding my knees for a while.
"Mom!"
I got up and looked at the car, although it was wrecked, it could still move.
"Regina, help me drive this car."
My body wasn't tall enough, although I could reach the accelerator and the clutch, I couldn't see anything in front of me. Regina told me where my mom should be and which way to take. Oddly she seemed to know where it was, which makes a question, how did she know?
Soon after we arrived at a clearing on the edge of a forest. It was the forest near Keplar Town where we used to stay during our visit. There was also a bunch of cars and motorcycle parked nearby.
[Go straight inside.]
I run at my fastest speed. The moonlight was bright enough to show parts of the forest. I then find him, I mean myself. The me in the ground was sleeping holding an AK, there were also other guns around me. By this time, I knew that I did it, somehow.
"Regina, what happen that night?"
She started recounting, from when they found me unconscious until the part where the past almost kills that man, Klaue.
"You have a program to take over my body?"
[It was a self-defense program in case you were unconscious or in a situation that your death was inevitable.]
I walked past the sleeping me and went further. I found several bodies laying on the ground before I found her.
I already expected it, but it still hurts. It damn hurts. I collapsed on my knees, holding my chest. The pressure was unbearable, I couldn't breathe properly.
"Mom..."
I crawled on the ground toward her side. It was cold... The grass, the dirt. It was freezing even though my jacket should have warmed me.
"Mom... I'm here. You don't need to be so worried anymore."
I held her head, my arms around her shoulder. I brought her closer to me.
"You know. I met uncle Chris. He was kind but sharp, just like you said. I haven't met aunt Claire yet, but I think she will be the same as you told me."
My tears started spilling again, her body was too cold. I held her tighter so that she could feel warmer.
"I got a power that helps me grow stronger, there's also Regina, she will help me from now on."
[...]
"Chris bought me the ice cream you promised, but tried your favorite ice cream and it tasted better than I thought."
I recounted everything that happens after I woke up in the hospital. How we took a flight to France, how we met with the invasion, about Samanosuke, about my battles.
"I miss you." Like a broken dam my tears spilled all over her face. I hug her. "I miss you so much..."
"I miss you..."
"I miss Dad..."
"I miss the time when we were still together..."
"I should have brought him here."
"When did it go wrong?"
"We should have just stayed at home."
"How am I going to live without you?"
"What do I have to do if I miss you?"
I wailed in pain. Suddenly, my body started glowing. It was the sign that the Ancient One was successful in fixing the time generator.
"No... Not yet... Please... I beg you. Don't send me back yet. I still have things to tell her. Please..."
I noticed a light blinking in the forest, there two guys with shovels on their back. They were the grave robber that brought me to the hospital.
"Over here...!!"
My throat become coarse.
"Over here...!!"
I shouted and shouted in tears, calling them over. My body turned translucent and then vanished. My mom's body fell on the ground. The forest turned silent once more as if mourning for my fate.
Fuck, I cried when writing this. I don't know about you but it broke my heart.
