Landing down in front of the barricade, the hoverboard melted back into his suit through his boots. Nodding to te officers, he informed them of the situation. Luckily, they all seemed to like the fact that he dealt with the insane-bomb-throwing-villans rather than them.
"The Goblin's down and out for the count. Spidey should be wrapping him up for transport now for y'all." Roy told them, his mask distorting his voice to sound robotic.
An officer he recognized as Captain Stacy nodded at him. "Have to admit, I don't like that you heroes act like you can do whatever, but I can't complain with the results you and Spidey there come up with." He nodded to Spider-Man, who was gently swinging down to hand the wrapped up Green Goblin over to the Police.
Roy nodded. "Well, we help out with keeping the civilians safe and take the baddies down, but you're the ones who have to tag 'em and bag 'em in the end."
The captain nodded. "Well, you've been taking on the responsibility of saving people, so why don't you give the story to the press for me as well?"
"Haha, I've got you Captain."
Walking up to where the various news stations had bundled up, he was bombarded with questions. So many at once that he couldn't hear a single one of their questions.
Knowing what he wanted before he even asked, Olliver popped up in his HUD, telling him that he had temporarily turned up the volume of his speakers.
"Hey! One at a time!"
That did the trick. Nearly all of them shutting their traps long enough for Roy to point at one of them.
"Daniel's from Channel 7, what exactly happened here today?"
"It seems that Green Goblin decides that today was a good day to throw around highl explosive pumpkins on his midday stroll. Luckily, me and Spider-Man got there in time before he could do any permanent damage to anyone."
A man spoke up, visibly angry. "What about the collapsed building? What do you have to say about that?!"
Roy sighed, his face changing expressions.
( ' : ) or just a 😢 if Webnovel allows you to see it.
"I did all I could to save the building, but at something I had to prioritize the lives of those within it rather than the building itself."
Another man spoke up before he could have a moment to think. "We know that you've been helping the people of New York for some time now, bit we still don't have a name for you? Would you care to share your face with us?"
Roy laughed at her pathetic attempt to reveal his identity. "No, but I did come up with a name for myself: Nexus."
All of the reporters around him visibly recoiled. "Why Nexus? That seems more like a villain's name than a hero's."
Roy nodded at him. "I chose nexus because of the watch." He said, lifting it up to the camera. "The Omnitrix was made to be a diplomatic tool between alien races, a nexus point between all known civilizations. I am that diplomat. As such: I am Nexus."
Roy then looked down at his watch, where Oliver was alerting him to an intruder in his personal penthouse in Omnitech Tower.
"Oh, it seems I have an unplanned 12:00 meeting with a friend. I'm sorry but I'll have to cut this short. If you have any more questions, feel free to call the number on any of my socials, under the username of Nexus."
Without another word, he slapped his watch.
"XLR8!"
WOOSH
"...aaand he's gone." They then looked to the other hero who had been left behind: Spidey, who also suddenly remembered that he had somewhere to be.
"So is he... alright people, wrap it up! There's nothing left here and Caltain Stay already ran away... coward." One reporter said, muttering the last bit under his breath.
---
Dropping down into his penthouse, Roy did nothing to hide his presence or identity as he deactivated his nanosuit via the Omnitrix.
"Ollie, you can resume the nearby camera networks. Thanks for covering for me buddy. Also send over the footage from that transformation I popped today, it needs to be studied. I think It might be too volatile to use too often as well." He rolled out all at once.
"Oh and order me the usual at BK's please." He added, walking over to one of his tables, which had holotech features.
"On it boss. You want the extra burger today? Azmuth's telling me that you may need the extra calories after that." Oliver's vaguely British accent called back, prompting Roy to nod.
Sighing to himself, Roy acted like everything was normal while he started working on more designs for Omnitech, and it wasn't untill his food arrived 20 minutes later that he spoke again.
"Sooo, you gonna come out of the dark corner anytime or no?" He asked, turning to a corner of the room that was strangely all dark.
Sitting forward, the visage of an older black man with an eyepatch appeared, scrutinizing Roy, who waved like a toddler.
"Hi Fury! I wanted to sent you a postcard, but international spies don't exactly have a home address..." He said cheekily.
Raising a brow, Fury got up and started pacing towards Roy while he himself ignored 'One Eye'd Nick' in favour of his food.
"Roy Harper, a young entrepreneur, CCO of a new up and rising tech company, and absolutely no past. Who are you really?"
"Shorrwy, full mouff, oue sek." Roy gulped down the food before wiping his mouth. "Sorry, anyway I am who I say I am: Roy Harper. Only suspicious thing about me is the alien watch that refuses to leave my wrist."
Saying so, Roy held up the Omnitrix for Fury to see. "Oh, and I'm from another universe I guess."
Fury's usual scowl depended, as he was incredibly confused. "Another universe?"
Roy nodded. "Don't exactly remember how I got here, but when I found myself in some alley the watch was already there."
"...Bullshit."
