Chapter 38: You Who Came From The Stars
The long war was finally over.
Howard Stark drove the icebreaker, following the trail of energy to locate the Tesseract, but he never found Steve Rogers.
Shortly after the war, Agent Carter and Howard Stark teamed up to establish S.H.I.E.L.D.
The United States launched Operation Paperclip, and Dr. Zola, a former HYDRA scientist who had been apprehended, was recruited to join S.H.I.E.L.D. Under the guise of S.H.I.E.L.D., HYDRA resurfaced and became a covert force within the organization.
Originally, Peggy Carter intended to involve Thor, but Thor was uninterested in an organization destined to become a tangled web of deception. Having his own people involved was sufficient...
As for rectifying S.H.I.E.L.D. to prevent infiltration or similar issues, Thor had no intention of doing so.
"Am I really going to work for politicians? No way!"
It is worth noting that Natasha Romanoff had joined S.H.I.E.L.D. early on, becoming a key member alongside Dr. Zola.
The situation was quite grim. In the newly established organization, Howard Stark was primarily focused on business, Natasha's loyalty was minimal, and Dr. Zola was more interested in causing trouble.
The only one truly dedicated to making a difference was Peggy Carter. But should a conflict arise between her and S.H.I.E.L.D., it would be difficult to predict her stance...
"What's this?" Peggy Carter asked, looking at a syringe in Thor's hand.
"It's a serum extracted from Natasha's blood. Her body has been enhanced, and like Steve Rogers, it can improve physical capabilities."
Peggy Carter eyed him warily, "You don't plan to inject me with something strange and then take advantage of it, do you?"
Thor rolled his eyes, "If I had to do something, I'd just wave my hand. Why would I go through all this trouble?"
Peggy chuckled and allowed the serum to be administered into her arm.
In truth, the blood of a mere super soldier wouldn't have such an effect. Even if it did, it would be minimal; otherwise, Captain America would have created an army of super soldiers with the amount of blood he had.
This was actually Thor's own blood, diluted to be harmless and using centrifuge to seperate most of the cells.
The slight divine power in the serum could provide minimal enhancement but would significantly increase a mortal's lifespan.
He didn't want to be left alone decades later...
…
Time passed quickly, especially for a long-lived species like the Asgardians.
Years went by, beauty faded... or so they say!
Ten years later... nothing unusual.
Twenty years later... still nothing.
Thirty years later... Well, no matter how steadfast Peggy Carter was or how confident she remained about her appearance, she eventually noticed something was off.
Especially when she realized that Thor, who had been by her side day and night, hadn't aged at all, she became even more convinced that something was amiss.
So, while people use makeup to appear younger, Peggy felt she was aging...
Age truly is a woman's enemy!
Over the years, Natasha had grown up.
Yet, the grown-up Black Widow still insisted on calling Thor "Uncle Thor," which was quite awkward.
Even though their relationship had evolved, the awkwardness remained.
This situation troubled Thor greatly.
…
"Ding! Congratulations to the host for completing the achievement—You Who Came From the Stars: Witnessing the son of the gods—Star-Lord being taken by Yondu. Reward: 500,000 points!"
As he watched a massive spaceship slowly disappear into the night sky, and the points in his system panel finally exceed 50 million, Thor nodded in satisfaction and muttered, "Let's go. Pretend you didn't see anything."
A slender figure took his arm and stepped into a sports car.
"Did that spaceship just take a child?" Natasha asked, puzzled.
Under normal circumstances, she would report this, but Thor's instruction made her reconsider.
"Yes, the child lost his mother, so these people are taking him to reunite with his biological father."
"Biological father? An alien? Well, his mother must have had very peculiar tastes."
Natasha's eyes showed disgust as she mentally pictured various bizarre creatures, like octopuses...
"I'm an alien too."
"But you look completely human."
"His father is also... Forget it, this family has a peculiar taste."
Not to mention Star-Lord, Ego, who spreads his seed across the universe, is truly a scoundrel!
