Chapter 37: Odin's Worries
Not only Odin but even his father, Bor, had shared a similar disposition when he was young.
It is said that those who share blood cannot escape their inherent traits. How could Odin, known for his kindness and compassion, raise a warrior as fierce as Hela?
Odin had once believed that with the passage of time, Thor would eventually become like him. But now, he worried that time might not be on his side...
Odin waved his hand lightly, and an image appeared before him—a colossal tree.
Words could hardly describe this immense tree that stretched between heaven and earth, for it was said that the entire Nine Realms originated from this ancient tree.
World Tree—Yggdrasil.
Yet now, some dead branches and leaves marred the once-lush tree.
"Thousands of years ago, I noticed the World Tree withering, as if my own life span was dwindling," Odin said, his voice tinged with sorrow. "As the supreme Asgard among the Nine Realms, its existence is tied to Yggdrasil. Without its protection, our realm will no longer be so resilient. At that point…"
He glanced again at the Eternal Flame.
Frigg was silent.
She was well aware of the prophecy of Ragnarök and understood more than Odin, being the strongest sorceress in Asgard.
"The World Tree is withering, Ragnarök's prophecy is approaching, my own health may not last much longer, and Hela is on the verge of returning…"
Given these adverse conditions, even Odin felt disheartened.
Frigg shook her head and spoke soothingly, "I have faith in our child. Thor will be a great king. Besides, Asgard is not just a place. It is wherever our people are. Any place can be Asgard."
Hearing these words, Odin's expression softened slightly.
He sighed, "There is one more thing that troubles me, especially lately. It feels particularly strong."
He turned to Frigg and said earnestly, "It seems our world has undergone some very peculiar changes. It feels like…"
"At some critical point in our history, there was a major shift. Since then, everything has changed."
"This sensation first appeared around three thousand years ago. I wonder if the Sorcerer Supreme of Kamar-Taj discovered this…"
Frigg frowned, thought for a moment, and then responded quietly, "I believe she might have. After all, she is who possesses the Eye of Agamotto."
She then asked Odin, "Is there truly no way to restore the World Tree?"
Odin pondered.....
…
In Kamar-Taj, in the chamber of the Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One sat cross-legged with her eyes closed, surrounded by a series of mysterious magical runes.
A jewel above the Eye of Agamotto on her chest glowed with a dark green light, illuminating the room.
After some time, the radiance of the gemstone dimmed and was returned to the Eye of Agamotto.
The Ancient One emerged from her trance, remained silent for a while, and finally sighed, murmuring to herself, "Why can't I see his future at all?"
"Why does he carry the aura of the Eye of Agamotto?"
"What happened three thousand years ago? Why did a race that was supposed to be incredibly significant completely vanish from the timeline? What kind of power could completely erase them?"
No one could answer the Ancient One's questions. After all, she was already the most powerful sorceress in the world and held the Eye of Agamotto.
At that moment, the Ancient One sensed something, and with a grimace, she muttered, "And that troublesome child of Odin's family is truly a concern!"
Odin had asked her to guard the hammer, and now she found herself with a hot potato in her hands .
