Chapter 17: Hail Hydra
The two made their way through the grove and arrived at the outskirts of the base. Howard Stark was not skilled enough to get them to the base gates—after all, the Germans were formidable foes.
"How do we get in?" Steve asked quietly.
Thor pointed to several approaching trucks. The trucks were moving slowly, so Thor trotted after them and climbed into the compartment of the last one.
Steve followed suit and climbed into the vehicle. As soon as he entered, he saw Thor fiddling with something...
"What are you doing? Are we hiding in the truck and sneaking in?"
Thor ignored him. After finishing his task, he took out a lighter, lit the fuse, and quickly jumped out of the truck, turning back to say, "When have you ever seen me so discreet?"
Seeing a row of explosives and beer bottles filled with unknown liquids, Captain America's eyes widened in alarm, and he quickly jumped out of the truck to watch it drive into the base.
"3-2-1, fire in the hole!"
"Boom—"
A violent explosion erupted, sending the unfortunate truck skyward amid a blaze of flames. The beer bottles filled with gasoline exploded, igniting a fiery trail along the spilled gasoline on the ground.
The base's alarm blared frantically, accompanied by loud shouting...
Captain America was stunned.
Thor took the enemy uniform he had grabbed from the truck and tossed one to Steve: "Your shield and outfit are too conspicuous. You'll be an easy target if you go in like that. Put this on, and come in with me."
Steve nodded: "But I don't speak German..."
"Just say this phrase when needed."
"Which phrase?"
"Hail HYDRA ."
…
"Damn it! What are those two up to?"
On the other side of the grove, Peggy Carter, who was responsible for monitoring the situation, exploded with frustration as soon as the explosion went off.
Howard Stark also looked alarmed, feeling like he might have to deal with more than he bargained for...
…
"Stop!"
As a group of HYDRA soldiers rushed out, the sight of two figures running toward the base drew the attention of a guard, who stopped them suspiciously.
"Hail HYDRA !" Thor shouted, raising his hands.
"Hail HYDRA!" Steve echoed.
The guard's cautious expression vanished, and he responded with the same gesture:
" Hail HYDRA!"
Thus, the two were allowed to enter the base without issue.
"Amazing! How did you know that would work?"
Captain America was astonished.
Thor smiled arrogantly: "That's just how it is. I've been on the front lines for so long; I didn't stay there for nothing. I figured out their secret code a while ago. Remember this phrase; it's their organization's password!"
Although this seemed like nonsense, Steve, being straightforward, believed it.
Steve memorized it and used it effectively in future encounters...
Later, HYDRA came to a consensus—regardless of what Captain America said, they should just fight!
This might lead to an incident in the future where Captain America was beaten by a group after saying "Hail HYDRA " in an elevator...
…
"Damn, there are too many rooms here, and I don't know where the prisoners are!"
"It's fine. Just find someone to ask."
"..."
Soon, Thor grabbed a seemingly high-ranking HYDRA officer.
"Hail HYDRA !"
"Hail HYDRA !"
After the exchange, Thor got straight to the point: "I am a confidant of Red Skull.
I've received word that some prisoners attempted to escape, and the recent explosion was related to these people.
Show me to the location, and if there are any issues, shoot immediately!"
"Prison break? Who's trying to escape?"
"The captives from Azano village!"
"Dammit! I've always said that those Americans should all be hanged. They're bound to cause trouble!"
The HYDRA officer cursed and led the two toward the prisoner holding area.
Steve looked at Thor in surprise, puzzled by how he could speak German.
In reality, Thor didn't speak German. The one who could speak German was the Miss System.
It's surprising how this system is adept in many languages.
The system provided instant translation and then guided Thor in repeating her words word for word...
The military division system is truly remarkable.
