Chapter 16: Rescue Plan

Clearly, it was impossible for Colonel Phillips to arrange a rescue operation for dozens of prisoners, especially since they were held deep behind enemy lines.

When faced with choosing between one person and a hundred, most would choose the latter.

Unless that person is Captain America, who, even at the end of his life, would choose Bucky!

In a rush, Steve packed his things quickly, barely noticing the increased presence in the tent.

"Have you made up your mind? You probably won't return. Even if you escape by chance, it would be a serious breach of military regulations."

"Do you want to stop me?"

"No!"

Thor shook his head: "I'm tired of hiding behind the bunker all day. I want to have some real action."

"Two madmen!"

Peggy Carter spat out, glaring at Thor, and said, "You're not seriously planning to drive that rickety old three-wheeler to Austria, are you?"

"If necessary..."

Steve climbed into the driver's seat, and Thor grabbed him, turning to Peggy with a smile: "So, beautiful Agent Carter, is there any chance you could find us a plane to get there?"

Peggy: "..."

On a military transport plane, Peggy Carter seriously briefed them: "There are at least hundreds of enemy soldiers inside this base. We'll drop you near the gate, and you'll need to sneak in on your own.

Remember, no matter what happens, if you haven't succeeded by dawn, you must evacuate immediately..."

Steve gripped his shield tightly, as if it were his only source of confidence.

Thor, on the other hand, paid little attention to the briefing. He headed to the co-pilot seat and greeted Howard Stark in the driver's seat: "Are you Mr. Stark? Your flying skills are impressive. It's rare to see a civilian pilot with this level of proficiency."

As he spoke, he patted Stark's shoulder, causing the plane to shake slightly.

Howard Stark, puzzled, asked: "Do I know you? We don't seem to have met before."

Thor shook his head: "I don't know you, but I know your son."

"I don't have a son."

"Your future son."

"I don't plan to have a son in the future either."

"You'll smell really good."

Howard Stark: "???"

Seeing Stark's confusion, Peggy Carter finally couldn't help but intervene: "Don't you have a plan for what you're going to do next? You're here to rescue people, not to kill them!"

Thor covered her mouth with one hand, chuckling as he said, "Don't worry, I've already got it figured out."

Steve looked up, asking, "What's the plan?"

"It's simple. We'll split up shortly. I'll go in through the front door, and you'll go in through the back. We'll meet in the middle, take out any enemies we encounter, and then return with the rescued comrades."

Howard Stark, flying the plane, was so startled that the plane nearly dipped. He quickly adjusted the plane's course and complained: "I feel like I'm going to face a court-martial when we get back..."

Peggy Carter was also exasperated, realizing that Thor's thought process was far from conventional.

Why does he treat this like a game?

Looking back at Steve, who was frowning and contemplating the feasibility of Thor's plan, she added: "But we only have an M1 Garand. I'm afraid we won't be able to match up."

"It doesn't matter," Thor said cheerfully, "No guns, no cannons—our enemies built them for us!"

"Every enemy is my equipment box!"

He probably viewed the rescue mission as a game...

Peggy Carter sighed in exasperation.

"Damn it, I must be out of my mind to be working with you!"

She felt her future was bleak...

"Boom-boom-boom—"

Cannon fire echoed around them.
