Chapter Thirteen: Who Moved My Hammer?
"Ahem..."
The violent bumps caused Fred to cough twice, and before he could react, he felt the world spinning and was thrown heavily to the ground.
Peggy Carter sprang into action, shouting, "Keep him alive!"
"Tatatatat—"
Barefooted Steve rushed over. Seeing that Fred had been subdued, he was immediately relieved. He stepped forward and asked sharply, "Who the hell are you?"
Fred crushed the serum in his pocket with a "crack," bit down on the poison in his mouth, and said through gritted teeth, "I'm just clearing the way. Cut off one head, and two new ones will grow... HYDRA Hail!"
Foaming at the mouth, Fred seemed unable to survive.
"A group of brainless idiots. Are you trying to fool me? How many heads do you have? I'll knock out as many as you need!"
With a bang, Fred's head exploded like a watermelon...
The professionally trained Peggy Carter couldn't help but retch. She said, speechless, "This man couldn't survive; why are you making it worse?"
"Who told him to attack you?" Thor said, as if it were obvious.
Peggy Carter remained expressionless.
Steve watched this unfold in shock. The doctor was dead, the serum was gone—what was he supposed to do now?
…
Soon, someone would tell Steve what to do.
The first online celebrity in U.S. history to live-stream with goods (creditor's rights)—Steve Rogers—made his debut!
"Not everyone can storm a beach or drive a tank, but everyone can contribute to the country. For every debt you settle, it becomes a bullet for our frontline soldiers..."
Thor recorded a lot of video materials and decided to play them in a 24-hour loop at The Avengers Base seventy years later...
…
A month after Captain America's transformation was completed, the Super Soldier Project officially declared bankruptcy.
Peggy Carter left the next day.
The plan had failed, and there was no point in her staying. The strongest female agent in North America couldn't just be relegated to a military training instructor, right?
Colonel Phillips' squad, a team of top-notch soldiers, was too valuable to keep idle. Consequently, they were deployed to various battlefields, including Thor, who was assigned to the European theater with the 107th Division.
Coincidentally, this was James Barnes'—or Bucky's—division.
"Hi Blake, long time no see!"
Bucky greeted Thor with a warm hug.
The two knew each other from a previous encounter at Howard's expo.
"Haha, meeting old friends, let's have a few drinks!"
Bucky's enthusiastic attitude puzzled Thor. Was their relationship this close?
At the dinner table, Bucky suddenly asked, "By the way, how is that guy Steve? I heard he went through some experiments and is now on a national tour. How is he doing?"
Ah, so that's why people are being so courteous to me—because of Captain America. It seems it's true admiration!
…
The days on the front lines were actually quite dull for Thor.
After all, he didn't have much attachment to the European theater and didn't feel much allegiance to the Allied Forces. He simply saw it as a job for money.
With his extraordinary strength, even if he was merely coasting, his performance was always exceptional. In just a few months, he had become the standout soldier in continental Europe...
"What should I do to awaken the divine power within me?"
Thor asked the system in his mind.
The novice task required joining the Howling Commandos, the combat team formed by Steve, to officially activate the system's features. But there was no sign of the Howling Commandos, and the only function of the system was to converse with him and serve as an encyclopedia...
Even in his current state, his strength was still impressive and seemed to increase with every moment of training. Even the current Steve was no match for him.
But no matter how strong his physique was, it was not as versatile as divine power, and he needed more than the strength of a mere mortal.
"One thing needs to be corrected. Even if you are not sealed by Odin, your divine power remains in an unawakened state. Strictly speaking, you are not the God of Thunder but the God of the Hammer. You were using divine thunder of mjolnir which was infused by skyfather Odin not your thunder "
"Oh?"
A spark of realization struck him: "You mean I need to find the hammer before I can break the seal?"
With the hammer, he would truly be Thor... or rather, the God of the Hammer would be all-powerful, not just a super soldier. Even the Hulk would be no match...
The question was, where had the hammer gone?
Who moved my hammer?
