Chapter 3: Knight-In-Shining-Armor

Mr. Livius." the butler bowed his head as Livius walked pass through him. The latter nodded in response as he removed his coat and the butler assisted him.

"Report." Livius asked the butler.

The butler immediately replied, "Yes sir, everything is in place. You just need to meet that person soon."

Livius looked at the butler and signalled him to leave him alone. The butler then bowed his head and got out of the room.

Livius went to his bedroom, changed his clothes and laid down in bed. He has many works to do but he just couldn't bring himself to see those documents now. He was tired and had a lot of things to think about. And also HER.

So, she's the one? he asked himself.

Before he could close his eyes, the door swung open and then Mr. Woods, his uncle appeared with a serious look on his face.

"Livi, we need to talk." Mr. Woods said in a serious tone.

Livius lazily looked at him and turned his back against him. "I'm tired, get out." Livius said coldly.

"Is that how you treat your only family?" Mr. Woods asked making Livius looked at him with a blank stare. "What do you want?" he asked as he sat on his bed with a bored and tired look.

"You need to marry someone." His uncle said without hesitation. He looked at him for a second and then smirked. "You mean I'll marry that girl named Dawn?"

Mr. Woods was shocked about the reply of his nephew. "You knew?" he asked surprisingly.

He shrugged and laid down in bed.

Ahh, I want to sleep. Livius thought.

How did this kid knew? Mr. Woods asked himself.

"You're going to marry her even if you don't want it. It's the best thing to do." Mr. Woods ordered. He never got a reply from Livius so he sighed.

When will you be back, Livi? He thought.

He left his room with a heavy heart, walked to his car and drove off. He had high hopes that Livius would agree to what he had always planned. But by the way he saw it, it seemed like he had to do it the hard way. He thought that it's the best way to save those people whom he treated as his own.

With blank and empty eyes, Livius stared intently at the beige- colored ceiling, awaiting for the sleepiness to take the toll. He looked at the door and for a second he thought that his uncle might be true about him marrying someone. But he never imagined that his uncle would tell him that he should marry his uncle's secretary, Dawn.

He always notices Dawn sitting on a bench or in the cafe looking at him with either a pitied look or irritated look. He doesn't know why she looked at him that way. He is convinced with the reason why she looked at him with irritation but he is not so sure why he sometimes got a pity look from her.

He got up and dialed a number. A number from his right man, his self-proclaimed bestfriend, Arthur. Arthur sees him as a bestfriend or more like a brother, but he sees Arthur as an ordinary worker of him.

"Sup?" asked the man on the other line.

"What did you get?" Livius asked in a cold tone as usual.

"She's a sheep in wolf's clothing." replied Arthur from the end of the phone. Livius' lips began to smirk as he stared at the ceiling. "Interesting. Investigate her more." he ordered Arthur and he immediately ended the call without even hearing Arthur's reply.

Arthur sighed as he realized that Livius ended the call without even saying any proper goodbye. He shooked his head in disbelief but right then his gaze fall to the lady walking on the road to her apartment, Dawn.

He was watching her from a high elevated, under-construction building just parallel to the building to where Dawn resides. He looked at her, watching her closely. But as the time Dawn entered the building, there's nothing he could do anymore. He squinted and tiptoed but he could only see Dawn's closed door. He had no other choice. He left the place exhausted with the day's work and headed to an expensive bar to grab a drink.

When he entered the bar, he was welcomed with loud music, different noises, glass tingling, a quite dark but full of disco lights. He went to the counter and sat on his usual place and ordered his usual favorite wine.

"Good evening, sir. What do you want to have?" the bartender asked gladly, flashing a set of white teeth.

"Two oceans please." he replied cooly.

The bartender nodded and said, "Coming right up sir."

As the bartender poured the wine, someone bumped into him. He eyed the lady, immediately recognizing her. It was...

"Oh I'm sorry." she said smiling, nodding her head slightly to the beat of the music. She then approached her circle of friends right at the center of the dance floor.

It was Kaira, one of Dawn's bestfriend.

From the pieces of informations he got, the circle of friends she has are all fake. All of them were models, actresses and actors from the entertainment industry which Kaira is known for. Fortunately, Kaira had true friends, her two bestfriends, Ro and Dawn.

Personally, Arthur admired their friendship since he got to know some stuffs about the three. Their friendship is obviously strong, he could see it just by looking at them and it cannot be broken by anyone.

He picked up the glass of wine, smelled it and started shaking it in a circular motion. For him, wines when perfectly shaked before drinking, will guarantee such a perfect taste.

After a couple of minutes, he started drinking the wine. In the midst of drinking the wine, he heard a cheer and hard laughs from the other side of the bar. As he looked at them, he realized that it was Kaira's group. He wasn't sure what started the commotion but he ignored it.

It's normal, he thought.

He was about to stand up, when he heard someone shout, "Go! Kaira!" and all of her friends chanted her name. Out of curiousity to what was that all about, he approached the group but was shocked to see Kaira, unbuttoning her blouse which is not really appropriate. Even though she is a model, he really couldn't stand it.

Arthur is a gentleman and he hates girls wearing such revealing clothes to impress men. What he is seeing now is an act of self-disrespect. Kaira was about to take off her blouse just because of a silly dare. Looking at the scene makes him angry. He have three younger sisters that's why he is protective to them. He could not stand the sight of women wearing revealing clothes and much even worse, taking off one's clothes in public.

Arthur put his black mask on together with his sunglasses to hide his identity before approaching Kaira. Everyone was surprised, especially Kaira, when he took off his leather jacket and wrapped it around the latter's bare shoulders.

"Don't waste your dignity just because of a stupid game." he said to Kaira with an irritated look.

Kaira was speechless and all she could do is to look at this stranger in front of her. The light breeze coming from the door made Kaira smell the manly scent coming out from the leather jacket. She liked the scent and even hoped that she got to keep this jacket.

Who is this stranger? Kaira asked in her mind.

"Don't be influenced with this people, it's not worth it. You'll lose something without even gaining anything." Arthur said as he walked out from the scene to the door.

Arthur was gone now and still everyone is in shock. No one dared to speak and all of them just looked at Kaira and to the leather jacket which the stranger gave her.

After a couple of minutes in silence between the group, Kaze, a famous idol clapped his hands and said awkwardly, "Now that was unexpected."

Everyone agreed saying that the man was absolutely a party pooper. Eventually, Kaira and her friends decided to go home after their so called party was destroyed.

Kaira went inside her car, leaned in and rested her forehead on the steering wheel. She couldn't make herself drive. She was still thinking about what happened.

"Why would he do that?" she mumbled to herself.

She smelled the leather jacket and she felt the butterflies fluttering in her stomach. She was thinking that maybe he's her knight-in-shining-armor because he saved her.

She sighed. Truth to be told, she never liked the idea of taking off her top. She just got pressured and was forced by her workmates. Kaira can't do anything. She had no other choice.

She held her hands together and raised her chin up. With closing eyes she mumbled, "Thank you for giving me my knight-in-shining-armor."

She smiled again and decided that she will go home and dream about the stranger. She started the engine and drove off.
