Prologue

There are two kinds of people in this world; the ones who achieve their dreams and the ones who don't. In this universe, winners and losers don't coincide as all of humanity is born in a dome shaped place called the All Bearing Zone and are categorized and sent to states that match their respective traits and needs. This decision is carried out unanimously by a set of juries for every individual when they turn 18. Once a place is decided for a person, they have to live their entire life there barring the visits to attend the funeral of a family member in a different state. The story you're about to read is of one man that faked his respective traits and needs just to be with his elder grief-stricken sister who just lost her husband. Unfortunately his sister's traits and needs were giving up in life and was addicted to edible drugs which led to the poor sober brother move into a drug-ridden state called Lucidville. Even though it was unbearable for the guy to carry on with his daily life, he still managed to bag a job as a private detective in the city of Discorama. While the man did encounter a lot of derogatory remarks on a daily basis and occasionally beat down for refusing to indulge in drug inhaling, he also made tons of credits investigating sordid businesses of every drug addicted citizen. Eventually fate and good word of mouth caught up to him and he was hired by the Senator's wife to investigate her husband's random disappearances in the night. The man went out in the night to investigate a dilapidated mansion that the Senator's wife informed him of only to end up learning more about the trajectory of Lucidville than he should have as his body was found bludgeoned to death in a street dumpster the next morning. A classic right place at the wrong time scenario but fear not reader when something is meant to be, it is meant to be and the private eye was meant to do to the citizens of Lucidville what cinema does to an average depressed millennial.
