Chapter 35 Red Sword

Xiaoyi pierced the sword into Taotie's leg and maintained her smile. Taotie began to groan out of pain.

"I told you not to mess with me, she said withdrawing her sword and thrusted the sword after a few slash.

Xiaoyi laughed out devilishly before collapsing.

Yanhui and the rest arrived at night and took Xiaoyi and the others to the inn.

The next morning, Lu Yi was stunned when he saw himself lying peacefully on his bed.

He rushed out of bed and headed for Xiaoyi's room. He meet Liao Man coming out of her room and decided to inquire about her instead of checking up on her.

"How is Xiaoyi, Lu Yi asked but Liao Man refused to say a word. She just sighed and left.

Lu Yi was left with no other options but to enter.

Xiaoyi was lying on her bed looking pale and lifeless.

"Xiaoyi, are you okay, Lu Yi kept on calling out but got no response.

Lu Yi was perplexed. He kept on wondering why Liao Man left Xiaoyi in this condition. He didn't know what to do except warming her cold hands and calling her name spontaneously.

Xiaoyi opened her eyes sharply as she was having a bad dream.

In the dream, Taotie had succeeded in killing Lu Yi and removed his spiritual essence while she was looking on helpless.

She felt excruciating pain in her heart even though it was a dream.

Without thinking, Xiaoyi hugged Lu Yi tightly.

Lu Yi said nothing but tightened the hug until he noticed something.

A red sword was on the table and looked extremely familiar to him.

Instantly, an image of a lady in red appeared again.

A lady all dressed in red with only her eyes being visible was pointing her sword at him and few soldiers. The lady's eyes were misty eyed and even though Lu Yi couldn't see her face, he felt her figure was extremely sad and vengeful.

"How did we get back, Xiaoyi asked amid the hug distracting Lu Yi from his trance.

"I think Yanhui and the rest should have saved us, Lu Yi came to a conclusion and withdrew gently from the hug.

"What happened, are you okay, Lu Yi asked in the most gentle tone still holding Xiaoyi's hand.

"I had a dream, I thought you had died in the hands of Taotie, Xiaoyi said holding her forehead in pain.

"We failed our mission? Is Taotie dead already, Xiaoyi asked while Lu Yi thought for a while.

"He should have been, Yanhui and the rest can't handle him if we can't but who did, Lu Yi said and Xiaoyi decided to get out of bed after a while.

"Are you the owner of the red sword, Lu Yi asked still unable to take his eyes off the red sword.

"Where did it come from, Xiaoyi said picking up the sword and wavered a bit, Lu Yi quickly picked her up before she could fall.

"What's wrong, Lu Yi inquired.

"I just have this strong feeling towards the sword and am keeping it, Xiaoyi said tightening her grip around the sword.

"It looks quite imposing, Lu Yi commented but couldn't shake off that strong feeling of déjà vu.

"HmmHmm, Liao Man and Liu Jin cleared their throats at the same time which brought Xiaoyi and Lu Yi to their senses.

Lu Yi let go of Xiaoyi embarrassingly and took three step back. He realized how close he was and Liu Jin's face wasn't looking good.

"We should go downstairs, everyone might be waiting, Xiaoyi said and ran out before anything, Liao Man followed Xiaoyi out leaving Liu Jin and Lu Yi.

"Young Lord, the..., Liu Jin was interrupted by Lu Yi.

"Not in here, Lu said and headed downstairs instead.

Everyone was indeed downstairs.

"Morning, Xiaoyi said smiling to everyone still holding her new sword which quickly caught attention and sparked curiosity among everyone.
