First Lessons (2/2)

"Jack, could you please tell me the answers to the questions?" Dumbledore immediately turned his attention to him and asked him from the stadium.

Jack was taken aback by what was going on, but he stood up and answered the questions, "There are four branches of transfiguration, which are transformation, untransfiguration, vanishment, and conjuration."

He then proceeded to give a simple explanation to those branches in front of the entire class and moved onto dangers involved.

"Transfiguration is a highly complex branch of magic that requires precise control of magic as well as talent to master. As a result, there is a greater chance that the transfiguration will go horribly wrong. In one case, if transfiguration is not performed properly, the Transfigured object or even a person may become half-Transfigured or permanently stuck in one state."

"There's even a unproven theory that the majority of humanoid magical creatures are the result of such failed experiments..."

"That should be enough, Jack." Dumbledore cut him off from continuing to speak on this sensitive subject, as students turned pale while listening to Jack. "That was a fantastic explanation, Jack; five points for you." He said this before motioning for him to sit down.

"Tom, you should really learn more from Jack so you don't make the same mistakes again." Dumbledore's voice was light. "Next time, it wouldn't just be point detection." Tom's face twisted slightly as his voice echoed.

Well, Jack had no idea what Dumbledore was up to, and his actions were obviously not on a whim. Does he want Tom and him to go against each other, or does he want to use me to restrain and influence Tom?

Whatever it was, Jack would not be surprised in the least. He didn't believe Dumbledore was a kind and good man; he was far from it.

Dumbledore was a complex character who would go to any length to uphold his ideals, even if it meant sacrificing oneself. In fact, he and Grindelwald are very similar in this regard. Only each other is their weakness right now, which Jack could use to use his advantage in future.

Even if Dumbledore had intended to use him, Dumbledore's plans would not come to fruition at all.

Then, Dumbledore began his lengthy lecture by providing a brief introduction of transfiguration.

"Transfiguration is an extremely esoteric and complex branch of magic. It is a branch of magic that is more theoretical in nature and does not rely solely on imagination and intent."

Dumbledore's tone immediately rose as he spoke solemnly.

"The most important quality to have when performing transfiguration is caution."

"Because you most likely don't want to end up in the same situation as Jack mentioned earlier." He addressed the students in a light tone, after deciding to teach this topic, use it as example to warn students.

"Miss Rosier." When he saw Druella Rosier raise her hand, Dumbledore called out.

"Professor, was that previous example of magical animals mentioned by Jack, true?" Druella asked, standing up from her seat, with curiosity. Her question immediately drew all of the students' attention, as it was far more intriguing.

"Does it really happen?" Sean perplexedly asked Jack, who was sitting next to him.

"I'm sure Dumbledore will say something soon." Jack responded with raised brows and a brief glance at the Slytherin girl.

While they were out shopping, he was reading an advanced book on transfiguration and came across this theory.

Dumbledore responded after a brief pause. "Yes," he said as he waved his hand, causing a curtain to appear near the podium. The curtain displayed a picture of a siren with half-woman and half-bird features to the class.

"The sirens are one of the best examples; the exact origin of them is hazy, but it is said that they were an experimental failure of a legendary wizard in the past, or there is another rumour that the sirens are actually decedents of a powerful wizard who lost herself in the path of transfiguration." Dumbledore spoke solemnly, and his images and words had a big impact on the students who were listening.

When Dumbledore waved his hands again at them, a small wooden box appeared in front of all of the students.

"Make an attempt to change the wooden box." He assigned them a task, and another student immediately asked a question.

"Into what professor?"

"Into various objects and shapes." Dumbledore responded, and he didn't bother to give much information, as he expected more from them due to the impending chaos and war.

Then there was mayhem in class, as all kinds of colourful lights erupted from wizards' wands as the students in the class tried their hardest.

*Bang* *Bang*

Some wooden boxes simply exploded, while others began to grow and others caught fire.

The entire class was in disarray, but Dumbledore simply waved his hand again to clean up the mess and keep the students safe.

Meanwhile, Jack simply tapped the it with his black wand while his eyes shone, his magical power immediately covered the box, and the wooden block instantly twisted into a silver exquisite cup.

It is actually quite simple for him to perform transfiguration due to the enormous brain processing power he possesses as a result of his six eyes. What he really wants to specialise in is transmutation, which involves completely altering the matter and structure of things. This is the quickest way to become wealthy with gold, despite the fact that there will be complications, but he wants to be rich!

This, however, will have to wait until he has access to ROR.

Dumbledore saw this and awarded him five more points for being first and completing a flawless transfiguration.

Some students were eventually able to change it, with Tom transforming the it into a sword and Sean transforming the it into a pocket watch.

Only ten students finished it by the end of class, and while most of the class was focused on Jack, he received some glares from Slytherin, and Ravenclaws became more competitive after seeing one of their own come first.

Jack also noticed, that the students of this time was way more capable in magic than in Harry Potter movies and novel.

This also introduced a new mystery: was this change caused by the combination of Marvel and Harry Potter, or was it the same in the original?

That was one more question he might not be able to find an answer to for a long time.

After lunch with Sean, Jack went to his next class, herbology, which was in the Greenhouse, and this class was with Griffindor, so he met Alice Miller, Sean's twin sister, who managed to talk to him despite her nervousness.

Jack didn't even get a chance to see Tom, whom he expected to meet during lunch, because Tom left the classes much faster than he did, since professor Slughorn had called him for something. He didn't, however, show up for lunch.

Jack pushed the thought of him to the back of his mind and proceeded to the massive greenhouse, where Professor Herbert was already waiting for them.

Professor Herbert was very enthusiastic about plants and seemed to enjoy teaching his subject; he gave us a long theory class about the foundations of herbology and named some rare herbs.

Then he took us on a tour of the entire greenhouse, with the exception of one restricted section which most likely containing the precious herb used in the preparation of the legendary elixir of life.

Jack was contemplating as he looked at the green door encrusted with powerful protective enchantments and runes. He really wanted that herb.

The classes were quickly concluded with another presentation by Professor Herbert.

The professor for the last class of history of magic with Hufflepuff was none other than the same professor Binns, who is a freaking ghost.

The class, on the other hand, was not as boring as Jack had anticipated, at least not for Jack, while even the most diligent ravenclaw slept in class. The content was not boring; however, Professor Bins presents the entire class in a stoic and plain tone, devoid of emotion, draining all of the students' enthusiasm.

Professor Binns spoke about the witch-hunt and the Vatican's involvement, and even though he didn't say it directly, Jack could tell the Vatican must have some extraordinary powers that restrained the wizard.

Jack was not surprised by this; after all, there is GOD in marvel. They may be more powerful threat to magical world than others.

Professor Binns concluded the class by discussing the significance and history of the statute of secrecy.

After finishing his classes, Jack went to the library alone, while Sean returned to the Ravenclaw Tower. To be honest, his trip to the library was pretty disappointing; there were actually newly introduced restrictions and rules on what books a first year could allowed to read, and while he didn't bother to follow the rules, he still got his hands on books in the library, a lot of books there are just theories of magic and other unimportant stuff, that can't help his path in magic.

Jack's only hope was Room of Requirements, which he planned to visit on the weekend after finishing all of this week's classes.

As night fell, he returned to Ravenclaw Tower, where many first year Ravenclaws greeted him rather enthusiastically, owing to his excellent performance, but he saw no genuity in them. Nonetheless, he responded politely before making his way to his room and retiring for the night.
