Chapter 47: Black Widow

"We wait until nightfall, got it?" Shin whispered, "Warai, you're our demolitions expert" Warai smiled a little when she said that, "so you're in charge of blowing the bridge. Tetsu, you escort her. Kannin, you'll come with me to take care of anyone who wanders too close."

They all nodded and agreed with the plan. While waiting for the sun to set, Kannin sharpened Koseki and Tetsu fixed his knuckle wraps--he was very particular about the pattern on them, so that if he punched someone hard enough, a large 'X' would be imprinted on their skin.

When night did fall, Shin looked up and saw a full moon illuminating the area. 'That's not ideal,' she thought. With the moon so bright, their chances of getting spotted were much higher. She wasn't very happy with the circumstances of the mission deteriorating so quickly, but this was the best time to attempt it.

A few hours after night fully set in, Shin initiated the attack plan. She and Kannin rushed out in the high grasses while Tetsu and Warai went to the bridge. Just in case, Kannin made a shadow clone and disguised it on the other two.

Ten minutes later, Shin was confident the other two made it to the bridge. She waited for them to rendezvous, but they never came. Just as Kannin was going to pop his shadow clone, floodlights erupted on Shin and Kannin, and their blood froze still. They had been caught!

They bolted up into fighting stances, and saw a number of Iwa-nin surrounding them, including what looked to be Onoki himself.

"You're surrounded, Konoha-nin. Don't do anything rash, or else I will disintegrate you." The Tsuchikage said in a gruff voice.

Kannin was counting the number of people around him and was calculating how to escape, when Onoki noticed him looking around.

"If you're looking for an escape, young one, you wont find it. You either surrender, or fight. And I can personally guarantee your demise with the latter." Onoki looked at them for a moment, before adding, "If that wasn't motivation enough, then maybe this is.."

Shin and Kannin watched as some Iwa-nin brought forth none other than Tetsu and Warai, both battered and bloody. Shin looked onward in horror as her kids were so close to their deaths, and she had led them directly towards it.

"Our sensors noticed you from miles away, and we set a little trap for you, which you so nicely walked into." He cleared his throat, "So, again, if you would surrender it would make this much easier. We just want some information, that's all."

Shin wasn't buying it at all, she whispered to Kannin, "Can you get Warai and Tetsu?"

"Yeah. But it would leave you on your own against Onoki and the rest."

Shin sneered, "Right now, I'd love nothing more than to relieve some stress on them."

Kannin nodded, and popped the shadow clone he placed on Warai back to human form, who promptly decapitated the shinobi holding her. He rushed to Tetsu and shot a stream of electrified water at the shinobi holding him, overloading his nervous system and sending him convulsing to the ground.

With Shin

Onoki shouted, "Get that foolish ninja this instant!"

"Oh I wouldn't take your eyes of me, Tsuchikage"

"Huh?"

Onoki turned back and saw a purplish streak fly across his vision. At every turn, his men were falling limp, paralyzed by her lightning chakra. Elsewhere, he saw large, black spiders erupting from the ground and attacking his men. This assault...Onoki recognized it from reports gathered in the Second War.

"You must be Harakaze Shin, or as those Kumo-nin called you, The Black Widow. With your summons here, and your venom-like paralysis, I understand why they called you that. Unfortunately, you have met me, and that has meant doom for nearly everyone before you."

He heard one word answer his own,

"Nearly"

Frustrated with her insolence, he said "Earth Release: Multiple Rock Walls!" and a dozen 5 foot thick walls of rock erupted from the ground. Before she could react, Shin ran into one and was knocked out of her Lightning Chakra Mode. The real battle between the two was just beginning.

Kannin

Tetsu and Warai were in too bad a shape to fight, so he sealed them in a scroll and handed it to Kiyo. Then he began unleashing himself upon the enemy. Kannin hadn't ever been pushed to rage in this world, but seeing his best friends in the world so hurt flipped a switch in his mind he wasn't even aware of.

Kannin was using jutsus of magnitude the Iwa-nin couldn't deal with. He was sending attacks like the one he used in Amegakure left and right, shredding those around him, and clearing a path back to Shin. What he saw when he got there shocked him.

Shin was panting, and blood poured across her face from her scalp. At some point it seemed her left ear had been disintegrated off. Onoki on the other hand, was having a much better time. He was still out of breath and sweating profusely, but he had no serious injuries. As Kannin was running over, Onoki created a large swamp, which submerged Shin's legs up the knees. With his prey immobilized, Onoki could finally finish her off with his technique.

"Dust Release: Atomic Dismantling!"

"NO!" Kannin screamed.

As Onoki's jutsu sped across the field, Kannin sent his chains out to grab her, and thankfully they found purchase around her and he pulled her back. But it wasn't enough. He managed to pull away from the jutsu, but not entirely; her left arm was still within the dull white cube when it activated, disintegrating it, as if removing it from existence entirely.

Kannin flung Shin towards himself and quickly sealed her in the scroll with the other three to put her in stasis so she wouldn't bleed out. He stood before Onoki, seething with rage.

"Onoki, I am going to rip you apart."

The Tsuchikage responded, "Kid, you may be strong, but you can't fight me and the entire army by yourself, can you?"

"No, I can't" He said with a sigh, "but what I do know, is that I am holding enough explosives to send you and all your goons to the moon a few times over." He said, holding the bag of explosives Warai was supposed to use to blow the bridge.

Onoki understood the gamble and withdrew a little, "Fine. I'll let you go this time. I doubt your friends there will survive their wounds anyways."
