Chapter 78

Chris woke up quite late, he found it hard to sleep the night before he couldn't stop thinking about what he saw last night, even though this is the reason why he travelled back home, he has been postponing it in his heart, probably what he saw last night was heaven's way of reminding him

he felt grumpy, what woke him was the sound of things falling off, he opened his eyes and found no one, he stood up and walked into the bathroom, but then he found Jane in his closet, he was right after all, she was there arranging stuffs, he couldn't help but smile

Jane noticed someone was watching her from behind, she turned her head and found Chris standing at her back ' oops she must have woken him up with the sound she made just now, she had wanted to wake him up but Estella told her not too, that he came back home so late and he needs to rest '

"good morning sir" Jane said smiling, her voice brought comfort to him and he felt relieved of all his trouble but he then remembered what he saw last night and he frowned at her, how could she be dating a married man? how shameless

"have you thought about what I told you yesterday?" he asked coldly

Jane looked downcast as she heard him, she had indeed asked Christopher and Mrs Whitney about it this morning but they had kicked against it, Christopher would not allow them live apart, the only option she had now was to quit her job except if Mr Christopher allows them stay here together, she can't leave them alone especially Chris

"well you see sir, it's not as easy as it seems, I still need to put something in in place and besides they haven't agreed to it yet, well except" Jane tried explaining but Chris didn't allow her finish

"except what" he slammed his fist on one of the shelves and Jane flipped, how dare she he thought, she was really going to give up her life because of a guy a married man at that

"you think I don't know what you are up to, I thought you were a honest innocent girl but it just turned out that you are just a cheap prostitute that goes about sleeping with people's husbands" Chris blurted out, even though he didn't mean to say that but he just couldn't take it anymore

Jane was stunned at what she was hearing, ' what on Earth does he mean by that? ' she could not bring herself to proceed what he was saying

"I know everything, I know you are dating Zain and he's a married man, and only God knows how many more men you are sleeping with, that's why you don't value your job and you don't mind loosing it because of your vile lifestyle" Chris continued

"sir I'm not dating Zain I have nothing to do with him, he's just a friend to me" she interjected because she thought he must have misunderstood them

"keep quiet , you still dare to lie to my face?, yesterday that you came to the office, Cat said that you were his girlfriend and he even confirmed it to me himself when I asked him" Chris shouted at her angrily

Jane was shocked at what he said, Zain said that, she felt anger boil in her not just for Zain but towards Chris too, he didn't even bother to hear her side of the story he just assumed that whatever he heard must have been true, she didn't know how to react

"you know I really don't care about what you do with your life, it your business, but you have to choose one, you are either a prostitute or you work for me, so I'm asking you for the last time, are you moving into the mansion or not" Chris asked her

"no I'm not" Jane said almost shouting too

"you can decide to fire me if you like" she said and dropped the clothes on the floor, she walked past him

Chris felt offended, no one has ever walked out on him before, he was the most powerful man in the country, no one dared to anger him

"and where do you think you are going to, I'm not done talking to you" he shouted at her

"I'm no longer working for you Mr Christopher, and one thing you should know is that the world does not revolve around you, you know you are the most arrogant person I have ever met in my life" she managed to say

"you know I first thought it must have been due to what you must have done in the past, that you have a good heart somehow, but now I can see that it's exactly who you are right from the onset, here is one thing that you should know" Jane said and she tried her best to sniff back her tears

"you are totally wrong about me, and I hope that whatever you have done hunts you for the rest of your life" she said as the tears role down her cheek and ran out

Chris was left stunned in the closet, he felt very affected by her last word, that whatever he must have done would affect him for the rest of his life, and besides could he really be wrong about her, but he saw everything last night

and the way Zain cares so much for her and the way he looks at her, but Zain said it himself, could he really be wrong

his face darkened, after what happened that night, he never allow himself get affected by what other people say but he felt extremely sad that those words were coming from Jane which was very strange

but she had said that he was wrong about her, could she be telling the truth or she was trying to buy her way out

he picked up his phone and called someone "make more findings about Zain for me" he said and hung up the phone

Jane went into the kitchen to pick her bag after she left Chris's room, her face was wet with tears, she couldn't stop herself from crying, the other maids saw her and we're gossiping but she didn't care, she picked her bag and left

in the past, people often called her prostitute because they didn't know Christopher's father but she didn't allow those words to bother her after a while, she had gotten used to them, but now that it was coming from Chris, it opened those wounds again and it hurt her deeply

and she couldn't help but cry as the memory of that night came back to her
