Penelope was more than relieved when she managed to get a job at Orchard Books. They got back to her about an interview within a week of Missy's wedding and her second interview had been four days ago. She just got the news that she was hired this morning.
She was set to start on Monday so she needed to make sure she had enough professional clothes in her wardrobe and that her paperwork was in order. Heading to the richer part of town to check out their thrift stores was her best bet but she didn't have her own transportation.
San Francisco had a good public transit system so she hadn't needed a car up there. Not that she could afford to have one anyway. She had been waiting to get a car until she got a good job and could afford a decent used one that wasn't too old.
That would require at least a couple of paychecks. In the meantime, she was stuck with the bus.
