Chapter 4 First Dungeon Dive

"Why the hell are the stairs huge? Couldn't they have made an elevator or something?"

Adam had made his descent into the dungeon and finally arrived at the first floor. The first floor of the dungeon is made up of long hallways with blue colored walls, a torch isn't needed since the walls emit enough light to see. The monsters that show up on the first floor are goblins, kobolds, and a very rare monster known as a jack bird which is very rare and valuable for its drops.

He had his sword drawn and was wandering to a more secluded area so that other adventurers wouldn't bother him.

~CRACK~

Adam Looked to his left and saw a large crack in the blue wall. A small green humanoid monster began to crawl out of the crack. When it was fully out the wall seemed to repair itself.

'A goblin huh, I wanted to fight a kobold since I'm already experienced in fighting goblins'.

The goblin let out a growl then charged at Adam, it planned to scratch him with its claws but Adam just dodged easily to the side while kicking one of the goblins legs, making it fall face first into the ground. Using this opportunity he quickly stabbed it in the back of its head, piercing its skull.

"Too easy".

~CRACK CRACK CRACK~

Three cracks opened in the wall and three dog head monsters came forth.

'Finally kobolds, lets see how different their strength is compared to a goblin'.

Adam lunged forward at the first kobold who responded by leaping towards him. He swung his blade, slicing the kobold's chest but not killing it. He danced around the injured kobold to dodge a blow from the second kobold, the third kobold also went for a strike with its claws but Adam met it and sliced its arm off. He kicked the third kobold into the first one, knocking them both down. He then turned his attention back to the second kobold as it leaped at him, wildly swinging its claws.

"Pocket sand!"

Adam threw some sand that he had in his pocket at the kobold's eyes, temporarily blinding it. The kobold rubbed its eyes in pain as Adam lunged forward, blade first and stabbed its chest, the blade piercing through its body. He then kicked the kobold off his blade and turned his attention back to the others who finally recovered. They rushed forward but their movements were slower thanks to their injuries. Adam made swift work of them.

"That was a good fight".

He was quite pleased with this result. He wasn't a skilled swordsman, he was self taught so his movements were still clumsy and had unnecessary movements. But what he wasn't pleased with was what came next, harvesting the crystals.

'I hate this'.

He dragged the bodies to a corner and did a quick check of his surroundings. Once he was sure he was safe he began carving the flesh of the kobolds and the goblin, extracting the magic crystal from within. He harvested the first three bodies causing them to evaporate, but on the forth body when it evaporated it left behind one of the kobold's nails.

"So this is a drop item, I wonder how much it sells for, probably not a lot since it's from a monster on the first floor".

He got up and sheathed his knife.

"Well time for some more hunting".

Adam adventured forth into the dungeon, fighting every monster he found, taking occasional breaks to harvest magic crystals. He did pull out his divine key once he started to get tired so that he could quickly kill the monsters without draining too much of his stamina. Once his bag was full he made his way back up to the surface.

"Hello miss Eina". Adam walked up to the counter of the half elf he met with before.

"Ah, Adam, how was your first time in the dungeon, did you get hurt?"

"Nope but I am tired, I'm here to cash in my items". He said as he placed down his bag filled with magic crystals and a few drop items.

Eina looked inside the bag and was momentarily stunned at how much Adam brought back from his first time in the dungeon.

'This amount is absurd for a beginner!'

"Did you overexert yourself Adam?" She was worried that he was pushing himself and not paying attention to his own health.

"Like I said, I'm alright".

Eina could only accept his answer as she began to go through the crystals and drop items, estimating their value. Once done she gave Adam his hard earned money.

"Here you go, 1,700 valis in total".

Adam grabbed the bag of coins, he thanked Eina for her service before he left the guild, walking back to the inn. He walked through the streets of Orario while thinking to himself.

'Hmm, now that I think about it, since I arrived in this world I haven't had any mental problems with killing living beings. I'm not disgusted or traumatized from it well aside from when I have to carve open a monster which is pretty gross'.

'Could I be a natural born killer?'

Adam stopped in his tracks and pondered on the thought.

'I never really paid attention to psychology so I don't really know if that's the case, but if it is then this world is very much suited for me I think… Well I shouldn't think about this now, I'll leave it to future me to figure out hopefully, for now I should return to the inn, maybe grab some food on the way back, Aqua is probably hungry and she can get quite annoying when she's hungry'.

Adam purchased some food from a street vendor, he started making a checklist of things he needs to do in order to fully adjust to living in the city. He arrived at the inn and went to his room, he inserted the key and opened the door.

"I'm back! I got some food for you…".

Adam stopped himself as he stared at the state of his goddess. Sitting in a chair, her eyes emotionless. Adam quickly began to think of what could have happened to her not knowing that she was like this because she was bored out of her mind. But as the scent of the food entered her nose, her lifeless body was now brimming with energy.

"You got food!" She quickly ran over to Adam, looking at the bag in his hands with starry eyes.

A bit surprised by Aqua's sudden change in mood, he recovered and shared the food with her at the table, talking about his experience in the dungeon but she wasn't really paying attention as she was more focused on the food.

A warm atmosphere was emitted by the two as they ate.
