Chapter 3 Orario

The night passed and the morning sun rose above the horizon. Last night Adam decided it would be best if they just rested and waited till morning before beginning the journey to Orario. He believed this was necessary so that the Goddess would have time to adjust to her new life.

"Alright lets depart, I want to reach the nearby village before the sunsets". 

Adam was quite excited for the journey, however a certain Goddess was not looking forward to it.

"I don't want to..." Said Aqua, her eyes were red from crying all night before falling asleep.

"Do you want to sleep outside on these uncomfortable bedrolls or on a nice warm bed?" 

She didn't answer and just followed him.

The journey to Orario which should have only been 3-4 days became 4 weeks. Adam had overestimated Aqua's stamina and thus they had to continuously stop for her. Then another problem arouse in the form of monsters that still roamed the world. Since neither Adam nor Aqua had any combat experience they elected to go around them which cut into their travel time.

Then when they made camp near a forest, somehow Aqua attracted a group of goblins. Adam was reluctant to use the divine key due to the angels warning of him turning to ash if he used to much of its power with his current strength but he gave in and quickly dispatched the goblins, his aim was decent since it wasn't his first shooting a gun due to being born as an American but he was surprised by the feeling of shooting the divine key, it had a much different feeling then shooting with a normal gun. The divine key was always hot but not at an unbearable temperature. 

Aqua gave what she called her "divine" knowledge and told him of how monsters have magic crystals inside their heart and that these crystals could be exchanged for money. Her eyes somewhat sparkled at the word money but Adam ignored it thinking he was just seeing things.

He was a bit disgusted at first when he cut open the goblins with a knife but convinced himself that he needed to get used to it. Afterword he washed himself in a nearby river to get the blood off him.

And thus their journey continued. Passing through villages and towns, being chased by monsters, getting lost in a forest and almost burning down said forest. Their journey was very eventful.

After 4 weeks they stood before the walls of Orario. It was midday and there was a long line of people and carriages at the gate. They both walked up and got in queue, Aqua ended up drawing some attention due to her appearance which confused Adam, her body and clothes remained strangely clean despite everything they went through and she never washed herself nor her clothes. The calling of the gate guard took him out of his thoughts.

They had to pay a toll in order to get into the city, thankfully the angel left them some money but Aqua wasn't very happy. Declaring that she shouldn't have to pay because she was a Goddess, she continued her rant while Adam payed the guard then he dragged Aqua into the city.

"Finally we made it".

Adam looked around the city with an excited gaze. It was your typical fantasy city that you would see in game or anime. What stood out most was the massive tower in the center of city as well as the different races such as elves, dwarves and beast humans.

"Can we go eat some actually decent food? I don't think I can go another day eating anymore hard and dry food." Asked Aqua, her voice somewhat tired. 

"Sure, but first lets find an inn".

They spent about an hour looking for an inn that they could afford and thankfully they found one that didn't have terrible rooms and luckily a bath.

Aqua immediately threw herself on one of the two beds. Stuffing her face into the soft pillows while kicking her legs, her skirt was somehow hiding what was underneath to Adams surprise.

"Ahem, well I will be going to the guild to that I could register as an adventurer".

"Ah I'm going as well". Said Aqua as she revealed her face from the pillow.

"Why?"

"Well we need to register ourselves as a Familia which only I can do". She said proudly.

"Very well lets go".

They left the inn and made their way to the guild which was at the base of the tower of babel. As they got closer Adam noticed more and more people wearing armor and weapons. Once they entered he was confused of who to talk to but Aqua just walked up to an empty counter with a short brown haired elf behind it.

"Hey I'm here to register my Familia".

The elf was startled but Aqua.

"Ah you w-wish to register a F-Familia, are you a Goddess?"

Aqua only looked at her arrogantly and said.

"Of course I'm a Goddess, do you think that a mortal could look this beautiful".

"Yes of course please wait a minute".

The elf quickly left and began talking to one of her co-workers then she returned back to the counter. 

"Umm miss...?"

"My name is Aqua". She boldly declared.

"Then Aqua-sama please head through that door, another guild representative will walk you through the registration process".

"Very well".

Aqua left the room leaving Adam and the guild clerk.

"So can Eina can I become an adventurer?"

"Y-you know my name?" Her voice clearly surprised as she never said her name to him or the Goddess that was next to him and they were both clearly new to Orario since she has never heard of the Goddess Aqua till now.

"Well it says your name on the name tag". Adam said while pointing to the tag.

"Eh?"

Eina's face became red from embarrassment, she quickly grabbed a paper and put it in front of Adam. 

"Y-you just n-need to fill out this paper". She said trying to change the conversation, hoping he would forget what just happened.

Adam grabbed a quill and looked over the paper.

'Looks simple also it looks like I can understand the written language here, that's good or I would have been embarrassed to ask her to fill out the information for me".

As he finished filling out the paper Aqua had walk in, she finished the Familia registration.

Eina looked over the filled out paper and stamped it.

"Congratulations Adam, you are now an adventurer, the guild provides free equipment for new adventurers, do you wish to receive it?"

"Yes please". Responded Adam.

Eina left for a bit before returning with a box and handed it to Adam. The box contained some cheap leather armor, a simple med kit, a short sword, dagger and a small book which explained the dungeons floors and the monsters that inhabit them.

After receiving the equipment and thanking her, Adam and Aqua returned back to the inn. Since the sun was still up Adam planned on taking a quick look at the dungeon. He did a quick read through the book on the first floors then he put on the leather armor and strapped the sword to his side. He plans on learning the sword since the divine key will attract attention so he'll only use the divine key when he knows there's no one nearby. Besides with his past experience with fighting monsters during his travels he knows the divine key would be overkill on the first floors.

Doing one last check of his equipment he bid farewell to Aqua who was fast asleep on the bed then made his way to the dungeon.
